- Julie and I join Darren Elbrow, Jon Reed and Duncan Lovett on a gravel ride over the New Forest with good mix of gravel roads and technical trails for a Sunday Dorset Grit and Gravel ride.
We have 2 Sonder Bikes, a Camino AL and Camino Ti, a Boardman ADV 8.9, Julie's Giant Liv Invite and my low cost Falcon Cycles Xenon MTB to Gravel Bike conversion, which I'm really enjoying at the moment.
We start near Burley and head across the New Forest towards Picket Post then blast along the gravel trails north east of Ringwood.
Thanks to Jon Reed for route of approximately 20miles, check out the group on Facebook - Dorset Grit and Gravel.
Minimal editing so you can get real idea for the terrain and how it went down.
Good video! 👍
have to be honest i am quite envious of the areas you get to ride, stunning
Suburb ride and very good effort MIke.
Also, what's up with all the wild ponies?
@@d1mon12 New Forest Ponies, Cows and Donkeys and sometimes we come across Pigs, are all free to roam and graze across the forest. They are all owned and cared for but not stabled and are restricted from the main roads by cattle grids. As you can see they aren't bothered by the traffic at all.
Gravel riding in the New Forest is bliss. Can recommend the Gravel Cat, GPX available if you Google.
It's great to have the Forest so close, means we always have a ride option even in bad weather. Cheers for commenting 👍
Trying to find some gravel routes in the New Forest as a break from the road. Whereabouts near Burley did you start the ride? Cheers!
Burbush car park near Burley. Dorset Grit and Gravel facebook group, you're welcome to join us. We do impromptu rides in the evenings as well as organised weekend rides. Also checkout the gravel guerilla group on Facebook they run out of Ringwood each month.
@@WheelersAtLarge Thanks! I know the one. Will check out the groups.
Nothing wrong with cable discs just as good stopping you and you can adjust them hydraulic discs are notorious for disc rub
That could be true, however in my experience I need to allow greater stopping distance with cable brakes. I'm sure rider and overall system weight plays it's part. Thanks for commenting
I’m sure all those teenagers must have thought we were a bunch of crazy old people
I'm pretty sure you're right and they're not wrong 🤣🚴♀️🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️
