    My observation I work with so many Sierra Leonean with mandingo surnames but cannot speak the language, I don't know why?. What you doing is good.

      The reason is simple and logic, if their parents do not speak their mother/father tongue at home neither in their communities, how can you expect someone to speak an unwritten language without hearing it or listening to it an an earlier age and above ? Who to blame?????

      Thanks for your information, however, not everybody is familiar with the N`KO alphabet. Time will come when we all shall get familiar to the same alphabets and speak to each another. Mind you Mandain has 33 dialects, therefore, let us encourage each one of the dialect in order to be united. Insha'allah

    Add Gambia, bissau and Senegal on your list, mandingos are the largest tribe in Gambia

      You are right, I will definately do that. Mandingos are one of the largest and biggest tribe in Sub Saharan countries or West Africa and well known for commerce, art and music....

      You need to search videos of the Gambian mandinka dialect which differs from this version from Sierraleaone.

      I think the dialec are different a bit, mandinka is a language in Gambia and mandikolu is you are referring to them as people from manding

      Keep on learning, you will definately speak mandingo with perseverance.follow the lessons step by step..... read and write some words you like most and memorise them....

      That is true, but if you observe the lessons, you will note that they are revision , wherein you have each topic written in both Mandingo and English. These are to draw your attention to the past lessons and encourage you to remember some words, phrases,or sentences already learnt. Hope you will find time to do so in order to be acquaintance with the language, by hearing and listening.

    Hello. Would any one know of any books that would go hand in hand with the form of Mandingo that he speaking? I try to look online but it only giving either the dialect spoken in Gambia or of one french speaking countries dialect. I looking for the dialect (Sierra Leone) in which he is speaking

    Your page is dope and theres so much tooo learn. I really like it and i was wondering if you could help me i want change my last name from a slave name to a name translated in mandinka for my 30th birthday. I did the african ancestry test and the results came back mandinka so i want too change my last name too something that means something too me not something forced on my people so any help u could give me or could u please point me in the right direction. Thank u

      I appreciate your suggestion, however, I want to be frank with you, most of african names are related to one's ethnic group beliefs and religions,I would advice you know or learn about your grassroot or descendants. Good luck

Also is. The word insight a Mandinka word and is perspective even an mandinka word and thanks again

      Powerful = Fanka ma : Mind you, words are translated according to the grammar structure ( All languages have 3 meanings in 1 word)

      Sierra Leone Mandingo is a mixture of the Mali ,Guinea Conakry and other Sub-Saharan countries MANDE version. However, Mande originated from Mali, was extended to more than 16 African countries after the collapsed of the Mali Empire......, Now, most of the best musicians and artists are from this ethnic group in Africa.

      INI SU = Good evening at night, because Goodnight is saying goodbye at night. 2, Idi ajabi = You may reply or answer.Koro/Kodo is the same, it depends the region where you live, since Sierra Leone has mixture of the Kuranko dialect and the mande origen.....That's history to narrate.........

      there are 33 different ways of saying /speaking Mandain language. We are the most numerous ethnic group in Africa. Praise be to the Almighty God to be amoung them.
