different strokes for different folks, all departments have diff techniques and not all work on every accident as no accident is the same. Thanks for the video. And i like the battery operated extrication equipment, much nicer than dragging around a pair of hydraulic hoses on a jaws and starting a pump

I know this is 7 years old but there are some takeaways for me. Spreading from the top down makes sense. As far as the fold over, why not cut the bottom of B post then cut the top instead of spending an extra 3-5 minutes bending it with an extra tool. We removed our rams from pour extrication tools since the spreaders can do almost anything a ram can do.

RUclips is a hella of a website, no other explanation as to why I’m watching videos like this a 2:50 in the morning. I’ll probably never even get within arms reach of a tool like that. (Hopefully because that would mean I’m the one being cut out ) lol

I've recently joined a rescue organization and have been trolling through you tube for tips to help my training. Not once have I seen just try the door handle first to see if the door is unlocked and open. Is there a reason for this. Cheers Tony

why dont they just cut the posts with a saw and the hydraulic cutters. also why cant they use spreaders to take the doors off but putting them by the hinges

+jim bob The concept behind the side out techniques, particularly the fold down, is to pull all of the material away from the victim and the setting is new car technology. The premise is a side impact or T bone in which the reinforcing bars in the doors fold in the B pillar and are compressing the patients on the driver's side. There are a lot of different ways to approach this, but we have found these to be the most effective and rapid techniques. Cutting the front bottom of the B post with a hydraulic cutter will typically swing the tool into contact with the victim in this scenario. Spreading the hinges from the B post on the rear door usually drives the B post further into the victim with this type of side intrusion. A recipe saw, unless using a Diablo blade, will be almost completely ineffective (very slow with multiple blade changes) at cutting the top of the B and the bottom of the B adds the challenge of reduced access to the cut zone. The goal is to minimize the victim's injuries and gain full management access. Thanks for weighing in. We appreciate your thoughts and input.

Rescue Methods cant you use a reciprocating saw as they are faster the using hydralic cutters or use both tools but on different parts of the car to get the roof of quicker
