I have to have one of every class so Ultimate was the way to go for me. I have two more character slots and enough gems to get two more and other account upgrades.

Good choice. This video was made before EoD dropped but after playing through EoD I would still stand by PoF/HoT being the better value purchase.
All are great but i think pof comes ahead of others. Hopefully the patches grow eod into something bigger as they always do with the expansions

So anything of note changed? Is there anything not included we might assume was included? Such as Story Content - ive seen story content in Gem store, does that mean it doesnt come with Expansions?
Oh and to get a "full account" as in all game stuff unlocked (not expansion stuff per se, but im currently trying it on free, and i keep encountering "you cannot do this without a full account on various things, are ALL expansions needed to be considered FULL, or just the FIRST one(s) (Thorns/Fire)?

Hey, I appreciate you stopping by and leaving a comment. I try to respond to almost everything on my channel so here we go. And for context the video was published on Aug 24, 2021 Which was several months before the expansion dropped.
A few things have changed since then but I think a majority of this video is accurate and I still stand by my statement that HoT+PoF is a better value than EoD. I enjoyed the first expansion way more than the others... but they're all worth having for the elite specializations and story continuity.
The two biggest changes are: 1) The game is now on steam and if you play using that launcher you need to purchase the expansions through steam. My referral codes don't work on that platform. Steam accounts play in the same world as regular accounts. And 2) There is now a Complete Collection which is different from "The Collection" that I mention in the video. "The Collection" has an Ultimate edition that comes with 4000 gems (which is $50). "The Complete Collection" doesn't come with any gems (since those weren't discounted in "The Collection") but it does come with all the Living World seasonal content unlocked on your account. "The Complete Collection" is the greater value if you are looking to go all-in on the game since it gives you ALL the story content ever released (even the stuff between expansions).
As for your other question, Yes, unlocking any of the expansions will lift all your free-to-play account restrictions (chatting, trading post, travel restrictions, etc.) but it won't give you access to all maps and features. Like if you want to play the Engineer's Elite Spec, Mechanist, then you need to have End of Dragons... but End of Dragon's won't let you play the Holosmith or Scrapper.

Absolutely. In the video I suggest the HoT/PoF bundle is better value over EoD because you get two expansions worth of content, more story, more mounts, gliding mastery, and more! Enjoy!
Can you play any of the expansions in any order? And if you can is there any story reason why you wouldn’t do that? I’m about to complete the bass game story so I was just wondering if it mattered which expansion I started on.
You can play the stories in any order. The stories for the last decade have been building on each other. If you jump into EoD there's a small recap but you miss a LOT of the background. There's also living world seasons that are additional costs. Check my channel for a video that explains that stuff if you need it.
I purchased the base game back on its release. I played for awhile, but haven't played in many years. I wanna get back into the game, but am a little torn between the Complete Collection or the Collection Ultimate. Are the Living World seasons fun? If they're good, I'd just pick up the Complete Collection.
The seasons have some cool stuff.
1) Season 1 was re-released and is free for everyone.
2) Season 2 is mostly about story and doesn't offer any new maps or features. Just a bunch of story.
3) Season 3 has a lot of interesting maps. Episode 1 and 3 have some of the best value maps due to the ability to farm ascended items. I think Episode 4 (Lake Doric) is a fun map because it's a continual push-and-pull style of play. The story is... fine. The story plays better if you complete the first three raid wings in addition to the season since the raid supplements it with the "behind the scenes" stuff. The ending of season 3 felt rushed. There are a couple account-wide skills you can unlock via the mastery system, too.
4) Season 4 is my favorite. Story is paced quickly but has large set battles, fun meta events, and is how you can unlock the Skyscale (flying dragon mount) and the Roller Beetle (fast land mount).
5) Season 5 (Ice Brood Saga) started incredibly. The first episode is in Grothmar valley -- the best map in the entire game imo. The season had a really creepy vibe to it with creatures taking over minds and manipulating people. It was good. The ending was rushed though due to the development of the third expansion. Some of the achievements can feel grindy.
Fun is a subjective thing. I think I liked almost all the maps except for two in Season 3 (Siren's Landing and Draconic Mons)... although, Draconic Mons is INSIDE a massive volcano and you can learn how to use a grappling hook which plays kinda like Spider Man. You can shoot a fine to ANYWHERE, pull yourself up, then re-shoot a vine as your falling. Doesn't have a swing mechanic but it's close enough for an MMO that wasn't designed to actually have spider man in it. XD

Yes, you earn more hero points in the expansion zones and use them for elite specs. Certain elite specs require specific expansions. For instance, if you want to be a mechanistic mechanist, you need EoD.

im planning on buying expansions. im planning on buying the path of fire and heart expansion first which is 30 dollars. my question is, will i be able to upgrade that to the end of dragon ultimate version? or is it the same thing if i just buy the collection complete
Hey there.
You can purchase the Standard Path of Fire and Heart of Thorns bundle for $30. Then, at some point later, you can purchase Ultimate End of Dragon's separately Ultimate gives you a bunch of perks, plus 4000 Gems. My recommendation would be to use the gems on Living Worlds 2, 3, 4 and Ice Brood Saga. Doing that would give you ALL the games content for $110 (if 4000 gems covers all the living world episodes -- might be a bit more actually).
The website now has a new bundle called The Complete Collection. For $100 it gives you Heart of Thorns, Path of Fire, and End of Dragons... as well as ALL the living world seasons 2, 3, 4, and Ice Brood Saga (at a 40% discount). Keep in mind ALL the expansion and living world content is relevant at Level 80. It's a lot of value.

All the expansion content, in every expansion, is designed for Level 80 (max level) play. It is preferred that you be Level 80 to take on those challenges...
...however, you don't have to be Level 80 to start that content from what I've been told. I've never tried it but if you wanted to go do the first mission of an expansion and die horribly -- you can do that! XD Thanks for the support. Let me know if you have any more questions. So I know I'm late (super duper late) but when you said the ultimate version of PoF will never go on sale, does that mean the PoF and HoT package, because I thought there was only a standard edition

Yea, in taking about the package. The difference between ultimate and deluxe is the addition of Gems, which they wouldn't discount. Plus, historically, the Ultimate version has never been on sale.

I'd recommend the complete collection. It gives you a crapload of story. In some other comment I think I have a detailed comparison between the two and the savings, but in on my phone atm and camd early find it. There isn't much savings either way. Something like $4 difference. I forget which way the savings swing tho.
im downloading guild wars 2 rn. should i wait and see if i like the game before paying fro expansion. Is it fine to get the expansion later on in the game
YEP! Totally wait. You'll have to deal with annoying account restrictions but it'll give you a good feel for what GW2 is.
do u get the lvl 80 boost whenever you make a new characther?
Nope. You get them in a shared inventory slot. They're usable by a character. When the item is used it goes away.
What would be the optimal level for me to buy path of fire expansion? im currently at 38, dont know if i should wait or no
Path of Fire is all end-game, max level content. If you purchase it before you reach max level, you'll get more character slots, more bag space, and some account limitations will be lifted after a few days (like you'll get to use the Trading Post fully).
If you are loving Guild Wars 2 and really enjoy the content you've seen so far -- it only gets better in Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire. For that I'd say it's worth getting it whenever you want. If you're wanting to get it, doing it now would just remove those restrictions even if you can't play the new content yet. You WILL get a Level 80 boost when you buy the expansions but I recommend leveling to 80 on a new character at least once before you boost another.

so as i used to play mmorpg games a lot when i was younger, i gave the f2p version of guild wars a try, i've been enjoying it for a few weeks. i can't decide if i should buy the expansions tho cause i'm not sure how much i'll enjoy the after 80lvl content... i'm more of a casual player, i like grinding and discovering and mostly PvE i guess, so i don't really know.. i was thinking of getting the €50 collection cause i don't really need the skins and i would rather grind for gems than buy them but i don't even know if there will be things for me to enjoy after the 80 level..
If you like grinding you'll get lots of mastery to grind, tons of achievements, and a lot of story. If you like raids and other 10-man content then there's at least 10 strike missions and 7 raids. The PoF/HoT bundle is more value over the EoD expansion, but if you can afford all the then get the $50 collection. Hope this helps!

Here's a secret -- I've been playing casually since Launch ten years ago. I didn't start enjoying strike missions and raids in GW2 until this year. Last year is when I got into PvP and Fractals. Before then I had about 12,000 achievement points and enjoyed playing how I wanted to play -- story, map completion, crafting, etc. Whatever you enjoy -- GW2 will likely scratch your itch!

Hello, im just wondering. How often do the sales happen(through arenaNet). I want to get the complete collection(hots, pof, eod, and living worlds) for sale but is it going to happen anytime in the near future? Should I just for now play the base game and wait for sale or should i buy it now without the sale
Hey, thanks for stopping by. The expansions do go on sale from time to time, but it's not often since expansion sales (and cosmetics) is how the company makes most of their money. I believe the last sale was sometime around Christmas/New Years and we saw a 20% discount on the collection.
If you enjoy what you've seen so far, and if you can afford the full price, then I don't see the harm in getting it all sooner rather than later.
If money is tight then I recommend getting Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire now at $30usd. It's a HUGE value, it removes any account restrictions your F2P account might have, and gives you access to masteries like gliding and mounts. It does create gaps in the story, though, because you won't have all the in-between stuff that comes with the Collection. If you have a bit more money available, Season 4 is amazing as well since you get the Roller Beetle and Skyscale in that season.
That's a TON of content to hold you over until End of Dragons or individual Living World Seasons go on sale next time. Seems like a decent middle-ground compromise. What're your thoughts?

If not, im thinking of just buying collection(contains all 3 expans, but without the living worlds) on sale since im on a budget. And im not too big of a story person anyways so i guess it wont hurt me to not have the living worlds right away

@@jgsource552 I didn't like all the EoD Elite Specs, but lots of people love the Mechanist. If you're looking for the Elites specs then I s'pose picking up EoD would be wise.
Yes, you can buy individual episodes and entire seasons in the shop. You don't have to play anything in order. In fact, playing stuff in order only matters for people who care about having a continuous story. You said you don't care about stories and stuff so you're safe to go S4 right away.
My answer: All of them (even in their base version).
It´s shame the story came to it´s conclusion, but I´ve enjoyed it and still have a ton to do :) One of my top favourite MMO.
And it was amazing to revisit old places from GW1. Currently, New Kaineng was the biggest suprise :D

@@Chickenooble Even though getting all at once might be little bit expensive :D Personally I would grab it in this order - base game ; EoD; PoF; Hot. Why? For me base game and EoD had balanced and interesting environment. PoF was too barren (but thanks sooo much for mounts and my all favourite griffon) and HoT too...green and vertical (still glider was excellent).

@@mregg304 Yep. The complete edition comes with everything the other expansions underneat it include. You should get extra character slots, two level 80 boosters, and two shared inventory slots.

hi guys i'm planning to buy gw2 expansion pack and have been playing free to play ver, since i have low budget i can buy either (end of dragons) or (path of fire,heart of thrones combined pack ) and not both. pls help me decide which one to go for.
In the video I recommend Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire bundles because you get way more content. The maps might feel less populated for awhile to because EoD is coming out soon. If you want to be playing with everyone then EoD is a good option but you'll get less content.

@@Nimeshdshenoy Positive. End of Dragons will give access to gliding, the Raptor, Springer, Seige Turtle, Warclaw (WvW Mount), and the Fishing Skiff.
The mounts that you won't have access to are the Skimmer, Sand Jackal, Roller Beetle, Griffon, and Skyscale.

I just played 5 days non stop trying out all the classes and i realized that the gameplay mechanics are terrible for me. It either bored me to death ot it is was too complicated to enjoy, as much as i like that you can use different skills when you swap weapons, it just does not feel good to play any classes, and that is a big problem, because the game is grindy af.

Meh. As supported content, this is more commercial advertisement than unbiased information. Worth "X gems". Just because a company sets a valuation at X gems = X $ doesn't mean it's worth it.
I don't get this comment. I'm reporting the valuation of some items (or reporting what ArenaNet says they're worth) and offering my opinion about which bundles to buy based on the content and prices/cost to the player? Yea, of course it's biased information... because I'm giving my opinion. Like what did you expect? lol

How so? Arguably, the only P2W feature of the game is Elite Specs being tied to an real money Expansion purchase.
