What is Mystery Babylon?

One common objection to Jerusalem being Mystery, Babylon is based on Rev 18:21, which says "that great city Babylon will be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all." The argument is that Jerusalem cannot be Babylon since Jerusalem is subsequently inhabited during the millennium.
The answer, it seems to us, is that the Jerusalem of the millennium is actually a different city of different size in a different location. Chris White has a very helpful explanation of this in his book, Mystery Babylon: When Jerusalem Embraces the Antichrist. While we do not agree with everything in the book, there is much that is helpful and worthy of consideration. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
Mystery Babylon is the nation of Israel counterfeiting the people of Israel. The end.

Excellent Study David, I always thought I was seeing this as Jerusalem all through the scriptures but would often hear teacher telling us it was Rome, great great study, make complete sense now.

Prior to this video, I held the typical Protestant position that MYSTERY, BABYLON refers to Rome. Thanks for the awesome scriptural support and clarity supporting Jerusalem. I didn't know Jerusalem was on 7 mountains too! Here is another verse to support that Peter wasn't writing from Babylon in 1Peter 5:13, but instead Jerusalem ..............Acts 8:1 And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.

I have heard many people try to "reveal" what they think is Mystery Babylon. They attempt to explain Spiritual things with natural men's thinking. Guaranteed failure.
I think it's kinda funny that so many have tried to determine this mystery...and here is the answer right under their noses.

All this makes me want to hear you do a complete verse by verse exegesis on the book of Revelation and further dispel many of the wrong suppositions I’ve picked up over the years. Any chance of that happening?

Also read Nahum 3:15 it talks about the 4 stages of locusts.
Then jump over to Revelation and read about the locust army.
Many Christians unfortunately are not taught these things.
Jesus said beware the leven (sin) of the Phrases, don't idolise Jerusalem esp. Temple worship.
Pray for them to realise Jesus is the Messiah.

Won’t the throne be present in Jerusalem during the Kingdom? How do I resolve this if Mystery Babylon is gone?

@Marcus Gale The holy city in Rev 11:2 is Jerusalem during the 70th week. The beloved city in Rev 20:9 is Jerusalem at the end of the millennium. Hope this helps.

I had only recently found this view of the identity of Mystery, Babylon by a preacher named James C. Gallagher in Foster, RI. I'm not from the east and I don't agree with the mess of theology that man represents, but ironically as regarding this issue of the identity of Mystery, Babylon, the man was dead on. And he used no usual wrangling and distorting and spiritualizing of the scriptures to reach the obvious conclusion. And now I see here Reid also agrees with Jerusalem as the identity. I have observed a few other very respected Christian people address this very issue in Revelation and they all reach the wrong conclusion (usually either a literal rebuilt Babylon, or else Vatican City). It's a hard reality for so many in evangelical/protestant churches today. So much distorted things taught about Israel and the so-called holy land today especially used are Genesis 12:1-3 and 2Chronicles 7:14 which are issues not remotely related to the Body of Christ today. The holy land? It's not so holy; Israel's Supreme Court facility is loaded with Illuminati symbology and their Constitution specifically and emphatically states that God has NO PART in their Constitution nor issues of civil function.

Peter was in Rome when he said he was in Babylon. NOT Jerusalem. The apostles did too go outside of Israel. It is a blatant lie to say that they didn't. Peter was crucified upside down on a cross in Rome. NOT Jerusalem.
There are far too many characteristics that do not fit with Jerusalem but that do fit with the Catholic Church/Vatican in Rome. The colors purple and scarlet fit with the Vatican but does not fit with Jerusalem. Blasphemes and being drunk with the blood of the saints fits with Rome but not with Jerusalem. Ruling over many peoples, nations and tongues fits with the Catholic Church in Rome but does not fit with Jerusalem. Having many daughters that are also prostitutes fits with The Vatican and the Catholic Church but does not fit with Jerusalem. For her many daughters are the many Protestant denominations that were birthed during the so called Great Reformation.
Which verse says Peter was crucified in Rome?
There is no such thing as "Mystery Babylon." Scores of volumes have been written about a name that has been misinterpreted. The name is "Mystery, Babylon The Great...." When one overlooks the "comma," one goes looking for the wrong thing.
Great job sir. Babylon the Great is Jerusalem. No other city on earth is guilty of the blood of the prophets (Matthew 23). There are just so many other references to support this. The old Jerusalem must be destroyed before the new Jerusalem descends.

@@ColumbusBibleChurch It is late in the morning when I came upon your broadcast and I had to go to sleep and did no finish watching but I had seen enough to know that you were on the right path. I will share this with some of my followers as a second witness confirmation of what I teach. It is treally refreshing to find someone like you who take the time search the Scriptures but your Ministry is called :Bible Church!" Amen. The instructions that you gave about connecting the Scriptures is the way that the Bible should be studied. The Bibles interprets itself.
There are many great religious institutions on the world but the fundamental principles of how the Bible should be studied is lacking. There is only a few who understand the structure of God's word and the witness of the Law and the Prophets that Jesus taught in Luke 24. If these are applied then it would eliminate the private interpretation of Scriptures and errors would be eliminated. Every word is established by the mouth of two or three witnesses and God even goes one step further, He actually demonstrates His messages through O.T. types.
It is not that I am trying to instruct you but I am just reinforcing the principles that you have applied. You have done it with simplicity and humility and I just want to lift up your hand. Grace and Peace.

I really enjoyed the presentation and I thought you made some really great points, however I have to lovingly disagree with your thesis that Jerusalem is a mystery Babylon.
There are several reasons, however, the main reason I feel that it cannot be Jerusalem is because the Bible tells us that mystery Babylon will be destroyed and never inhabited again, just like original Babylon.
But the Bible also tells us that Jesus will rule during the millennium from Jerusalem. So how can Jerusalem be mystery Babylon, be destroyed and never inhabited ever again, and then Jesus rule from Jerusalem?
In my humble loving opinion mystery Babylon cannot be Jerusalem. It was referenced in the Old Testament, but I do not believe it is that great city at the end of time the Bible mentions.

In the second paragraph of your comment, you state that the main reason you doubt that Jerusalem is “mystery Babylon” is because “the Bible tells us that mystery Babylon will be destroyed and never inhabited again, just like the original Babylon “ Where, exactly, does it say that?
I used BLB to search on “mystery Babylon” and it only shows up once in the entire KJV Bible - Rev. 17:5 - and it says nothing about it being destroyed and never inhabited again.
I look forward to your response as to where you found the Scripture verse that supports your stated position in case I made a mistake in my search parameters. 😊

Verses below do not fit Jerusalem, specially not HORSES, CHARIOTS & SLAVES, BEASTS! Sounds like Rome to me! Peter was in acts 15 in Jerusalem, that doesn't mean he wasn't later in Rome, Babylon could have been a cover name for Rome under Nero's persecution!

The prophets...you know, all those in the OT, all slain because of what they proclaimed and prophesied to Israel...John the Baptist, an OT prophet, and Israel was "none-to-keen" with what Jesus had to say, either. "Her" refers to Israel...Israel and God had a "marital" contract (His wife), which "she" broke due to being unfaithful (still is) and the covenant with "her" and "her" land will be restored at Jesus' second coming...all the OT prophecies concerning Israel will be fulfilled...it's about Israel and the Jews, not Rome...Jesus returns to the Mount of Olives and annihilates the AC (sitting in Jerusalem from where he'll rule the world), and all his hordes, not Rome. Pastor Reid has delivered an excellent, expositionally comprehensive and accurate discourse in this message, and if you can get Rome out of your thinking (probably due to the misguiding of other teachers), and consider listening to this message again, I'm sure you'll see it's not about Rome, America...New York City...or wherever it is the unlearned say (they think) it is. The Lord just made me a preacher a year and a half ago I did not go to Bible school I did not go to no Bible college no church no nothing but I died and met Jesus Christ face to face and I was going to hell and I got to watch Jesus Christ forgive me and I watched him reach his hand out and touch my shoulder and ordain me before he put me back in my body and you can hear the rest of the testimony on my channel but he's got me teaching and preaching his word because when I was with Jesus he told me he looked me in my eyes and said my own people do not know my word and they don't know how to hear me he used the word own and emphasized that word meaning his preachers is teachers his own people. Did not know his word and now that I'm teaching it I see things people say I hear it and there he's right they really don't know his word most people would tell you this is America well that's not mystery Babylon that's the obvious it's Jerusalem! You know I don't know how to explain it to you but I was not allowed to even listen to any preachers or teachers for the first 9 months Jesus was teaching me his word so everything I learned I learned directly from Heaven directly from God but that's the days we're living in we're living in some miraculous spirit of God moving days right now and he's moving upon me but there's a lot of people out there not preaching the accuracy of God's word that's another truth those that are preaching the true word of God are few and far in between. Jesus let me live for three words well for three things he was very concerned he said my people do not know what it means to be baptized in the water he said my people do not know what it means to believe and my people don't know how to hear me he said I speak to my people everyday and they do not know it's me because they won't listen! So that's what I'm alive for today and now that I teach and preach it and I get all these comments and emails off of the day and I one-on-one Google meets and all the stuff I see the people coming that really don't know what it means to be baptized in the water that will save you anyway they don't know what the water is that will save you!!well if you're a true preacher of God's word you know the water that will save you is God's word living according to his word obeying the commandments of the Lord loving the Lord your God with all your heart soul and mind and loving other people like you love yourself and obeying God's commandments but people think it's the physical body of water that saves you and it doesn't that's a statement that's a statement of your faith that's what that is that's important but it does not save you what saves you is submerging yourself in God's word and living according to it! Now this was talk to me by Jesus Christ not by any person on this Earth! The word believe a lot of people think that they just say it with their mouth that Jesus rose from the dead no matter how they live their life if they just say the words and they believe it they're saved but they don't understand what the Bible means when it says if you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth they just think the confessing with their mouth means they believe it no they don't understand it's called Head knowledge they agree with it with their head but if your life don't line up with what you believe if your life doesn't line up with God's word then you're not a believer!! Jesus looks at the heart you know there was a lot he explained to me when I was with him and there's everything you hear me teach and preach on my channel comes directly from him no person I'd be scared to death to preach anything that any human being has said on this planet because God said there's very few and far in between that's preaching the accuracy of his word! You've got preachers everywhere preaching that Babylon is America well it should be obvious to these people that study God's word that it is not America because America is not a mystery Babylon America is pretty obvious!! If you study the Bible it explains things to you you know but Jesus showed me where people reading the Bible honestly don't know what they're reading so Jesus sent me back to this Earth with the very specific way to show the people how to study the Bible jesus's way it involves a lot of writing some of your time of your day to spend alone with God but I tell you something when you do it the way he showed me what do you get back you get a great big wow you get a notebook full of understanding that's what you get and you're learning to hear God if you study the Bible the way Jesus showed me to show you guys like I do on my channel it teaches you how to learn the Scripture it teaches you to hear God it encourages you and it shows you what you need to change in your life and work on it it does all that right there you guys need to come and listen to Jesus Christ teaching on my channel he's teaching you there not me I'm just a vessel that he let live and he speaks right through my mouth you guys when I'm teaching come and listen to the Lord
