One of my favourite places to visit in Italy. Great bike ride.

We stay at Lucca every year for our vacay except last year and we plan to go back not till 2022 till covid situation gets better in Italy, although we are fully vaccinated. We live by via dei Bacchettoni in between Porta Elisa and closer to Porta Jacopo. We see the apartment where we lived, you passed by it. We miss Lucca.
update from italy, if useful: we should reach roughly 50% of the population with at least one dose of vaccine, approx in the middle of june. restrictions are slowly (progressively) being lifted. we are late, but not as late as I expected.

Is there anything better than Lucca on a sunny spring day. It almost brings you to tears. Touristy to a point but not overrun like Florence. Still has that lived in feel. A perfect place for ride since so much of Italia is a lung burner. We are looking into places in Pistoia since prices in Lucca are not realistic.
The view at 11:20 made my heart skip a beat.

💚💚💚 We almost chose Lucca for our month in Italy several years ago but chose Firenze in the end
❤️❤️❤️because I was more familiar with it. I've heard such wonderful things about it though. Love the ebike tour and the time of day. Lovely city. -H
I knew that if you reached Lucca, you would have shown the "piazza anfiteatro" too :); one of my favorite quiet towns in Tuscany, but with an interesting "alternative personality": during summer (non-covid...) it hosts a lot of music live shows, with very famous names; Ennio Morricone conducted one of his last concerts there - imagine the magic of listening to the orchestra under a starry sky, in a medieval town with renaissance-era walls...
also, in autumn it is home to a massive comic-con, week-long; 270K paid tickets and who knows how many non-paying (a lot of things can be seen for free); I reckon it should be among the top five comic-cons in the world. and somehow, the small medieval town never fails to transform in "something else" for a week and makes it look somehow manageable, almost "natural". hats off to the organization.

I'm posting up another one tomorrow of just the city walls starting at 6:30 PM and then I'll be posting up an evening bike ride of the city on Wednesday. I just filmed a bike ride of the Appian Way this weekend. It turned out really nice so I'm looking forward to posting that one.
