It is beyond tedious. The last fight is a total endurance round. Can you imagine how hard it was before I found the most efficient way to do it? It's a damn nightmare and has consistently been the one thing that's kept me from finishing this for so long.
I think Sigma's final form in X1 is harder without enhancements, heart tanks or subtanks. I just barely finished the game like that after 9 years. Seriously, 2 hits and you're dead.
