    Fantastic info! I was looking forward to these, but with GR’s being unobtainium, I am going to buy another ND and send my ACE’s in for the rebuild with the fancier screen and all that.

    Clearly a well-thought kit! Curious why you opted for square spring rates on most specs quoting fine-tuning balance, instead of suggesting a particular stiffer front sway bar? Due to motion ratios, a square physical spring rate means you end up with a much softer effective wheel rate in the rear than in the front.

      We also ran a stock rear sway bar with the 24mm Perrin front. Most of the cars we ran against used a bigger rear bar.. and still understeered. We found more front end grip with our set up. A very notable Norcal 86 driver (who also holds some track records) after driving our car said "it was the first time he had driven an 86 where the front did what he wanted, endless grip". He also noted that it gobbled up kerbs that his car (on custom valved 2 way - 2 piece shocks) couldn't handle. I edited out some extra stuff about set up and spring rates because it was already long, sorry!

    Oh boy. I got xidas on my nb mazdaspeed and a 2023 brz preorder 😳
    This is good well thought of stuff. Now just need to decide if using the msm for track or I go down the rabbit hole with the brz again as well.

      Initially it was to track the Miata and daily the brz, but this is so tempting.

    I'm getting ready to sell my current 86 coilovers which are a two-piece design. I'm officially done with that type of shock. Never again. The travel is just non-existent. Only one-piece shocks from now on.

    I think I've done hundreds of hours research on coilovers for my mx-5 NA and come to the conclusion at this point I'll have to import some from either you or FM to "have my cake and eat it" in terms of a compliant suspension that is excellent when driving hard and doesn't punish either.
    I guess my main concern is that you're focussed so much on track work that Xidas are not the best option for a car that gets tracked once a year. Would you recommend these as daily drivers too?

    What are the spring and damper rates? What tire type/brand/model were they tuned on?

    • @949RacingSuperMiata
      @949RacingSuperMiata  2 года назад

      You can visit the website to see the spring options. We developed this Xida application on a range from OEM tires/wheels to 18x10 with 265/35 Goodyear SC3R. Unique feature of all Xidas is the very wide damping sweep made possible by double digressive valving so high speed rebound doesn't go beyond what's needed for the tire's spring rate. Does your "Touring Setup" of 250-200 for the 1st gen car take into account the stiffer rear bar (15 vs 14mm) of face lift models? Do you recommend different rates for those models or just some fine tuning using less rake maybe?

    • @949RacingSuperMiata

      250/200 works well for either bar to balance ride quality with limit handling

    If I am on RCE Tarmac 2. How much of an upgrade would the XIDA be?

    • @949RacingSuperMiata
      @949RacingSuperMiata  Год назад +3

      Give us a call or email for a more detailed discussion. Short version: Tarmac 2 are steel bodied, twin tube, conventional shocks based on a KW street shock. Xida are aluminum/ steel inverted monotube pro motorsports based shocks. Like comparing a Civic Type R (nice!) to a Porsche GT3. More camber adjustment range, ability to fine tune front bump travel, double digressive pistons for optimum contact patch loading in competition style driving.

      I think Xidas are a superior product.
      But I’m on T2s as well. Front bodies of Xidas are steel and rear are aluminum. Spherical bearings on both (if you opt for the vorshlog plates on the T2s). I’m able to get -5 camber as well with the slotted T2s and camber plates.
      Where I see the biggest difference is single tube, inverted, swift springs, and the thrust bearings. In addition, the 500/500 (9k) is more suited for HPDE than the 400/400 (7k) the T2s have. And these Xidas are one way adjustable, two way adjustable just means more user error. Also, even with SPL end links I do have some binding issues, but no clunking with a Perrin bar. They (Xidas) seem to have handled all that.
