So my sister's Japanese friends came over about an hour ago for a school project and I was still sleeping in bed. One of her friends started playing this on my Steinway and let me tell you it was the most beautiful melody I've woken up to. I immediately rushed out of my door to compliment him on playing such a beautiful song. I just had to ask the guy for the name of the song so I can learn it myself and so here I am, on RUclips, just listening and falling in love with this wonderful melody.
if anyone was wondering, the name of the pianist who composed this transcription of the piece is Shinobu Takaishi. they also made a transcription of the OP for Kanon, "Last Regrets". just to clarify :)
I've been listening to this song since the initial upload in 2008... it's been 13 years since then and this song is still very beautiful and still very emotional. Here's to another decade or so to this wonderful song!

I uploaded ths to my i-pod and listened to this on a journey to and from a school trip on a coach full of noisy and loud kids. This took me to a place of tranqulity and serenity. Just amazing. No words to describe how amazing this is. If the composer is reading this just know how talented you are and that you probably inspire thousands of people with the single piece alone. I love that it put the very first part of the original song, the key melody at the last part of this piece (5:38). The beginning is the end. Vice versa.

Every time I listen to this song, it always reminds me of the sky and the clouds roaming in the skies... :) Sometimes, it even makes you want to imagine yourself flying in the heavenly skies with Pure-White Angel Wings on your back that's lager than life! :D
After going into this series without any real prior knowledge, It wasn't the ending I was initially expecting... it was so much more though. Simultaneously one of the saddest and also most beautiful endings to anything i've ever seen

I think it fits because the lyrics talk about being weak but trying to find their own wings to fly on. The piano gets really soft at parts and then gets stronger.
