I totally agree. It wasn’t Gary Francis Post. Or Richard Gaikowski. And it certainly wasn’t Earl Van Best. What I find so frustrating is law enforcement has a partial DNA profile from the stamps. This is what ruled out Arthur Lee Allen. Why not rule out all of these other potential suspects using the same profile? If you can’t tell us who he was, at least tell us who he wasn’t.
Apparently Sullivan’s only living brother wants nothing to do with giving his dna.
I solved it now hear me out. The Zodiac is DB Cooper! Look at the composites!
Also the victim had hair samples of the Zodiac they have not been matched

Ross Sullivan is like so many of these suspects. On first blush he seems plausible. But when you look in more detail it just doesn’t add up. Riverside police are adamant it was not Sullivan in the murder of Bates. They’re convinced it was an old boyfriend who she broke up with and refused to take back. Years later, the same ex boyfriend was the primary suspect in another woman’s disappearance. In either case law enforcement never had enough evidence to arrest and convict. Ross Sullivan was not the Zodiac. And neither was Arthur Lee Allen. Another dead end.

@@alinmurariu7808 the case against ALA is based primarily on the testimony of Don Cheney. Cheney suspected ALA of touching his daughter inappropriately but couldn’t prove it. Accusing him of being the Zodiac was his way of getting back at him, or so the story goes. ALA, who had a hatred for law enforcement from his prior arrests, purposely toyed with them because he knew they had no real proof. What I find interesting is when they got a partial DNA sample from the stamps. They ran both ALA and Don Cheney’s DNA. Neither were a match.
This guy is a dead ringer for the composite sketch.
He was incredibly smart and lived long enough (1977) to be the Zodiac.

It 100% was not Ross Sullivan. The available witnesses would have recognized him. He really stood out. Also, I had my husband, who is the same size as Ross climb beneath one of those desks and he couldn't. It was a desk bottom poem, not desk top. Also. It's unlikely he had size 10 feet. She's not a zodiac victim. There are local suspects no one has ever mentioned.
Zodiac was a Cop! And I’m not the first to say that. Techniques, killing style, knowledge of military procedures, codes etc. Always one step ahead crap. No! When you’re involved in the deed and have inside information first hand before investigators says a lot. And amongst the first on the scenes then it’s obvious. You just narrow it down! They failed to do that because whoever it was made sure the heat was off of them. Perhaps a Sargent or lieutenant with first hand connections etc. I believe several high ranking officers were catching on and was told to keep their mouths shut or else. Why not compare the letters to cops signatures and writing style and do the same for surrounding precincts as well. I’m sure there’s documentation, papers, applications etc. It’s simple! No one dare to go there even today. So you have countless documentaries saying the same thing blaming the same people since that time. They wanted to keep it far away from inside corruption and succeeded! Fooled millions and millions throughout the history of this case. They tried to pin it to several criminals, pedophiles, killers and never succeeded. Outside of the Zodiac at least one more person knew who it was back then. Probably a decorated cop and not wanting to share who the Zodiac was. To spare the force humiliation and the talk of the town for decades perhaps. Who wants to be remembered for that or have a notorious killer in their class of officers. Become the ultimate snitch amongst brothers or outcast etc. Police were very strange like that back then. A different set of morals to say the least. No one is that slick and elusive! They caught Berkowitz in NY. And technology and practices were no different. They made it that way. A good cop would compare the handwriting from every avenue from top to bottom until retirement. He got very sloppy with the cab driver and the answers were right there. They didn’t want to figure it out. And the officers on that beat let him go on purpose or knew more than what they led on. It’s not hard putting 2 and 2 together! But much harder convincing 2 and 2 is 13. Besides the answers are within his writing style. Even with today’s technology and good cop work they are no closer now than then. Keep comparing! Did they do that? No! Just the constant crap feeding of how elusive and “smart” he was. He’s been under their noses the whole time. It’s an internal affair that will continue to fool the public. After an extensive study on this that’s too much to mention here I stand by this still.
There was and *IS* only one department that could have been at all the scenes, in fact they were. _The CHP California Highway Patrol._ And as you say a sergeant.
There are numerous photographs from the scenes that include CHP cars. MARKED CHP cars. Some claim that is because they were the state police assisting local PD. NO! The CHP does mosty traffic and protection for state officials. the State AG's office does investigations and they drive unmarked cars.
There are things that the CHP could have done and a sergeant would have had access to and influence over them.
This is a lead they will never follow.
Z seems to have had some kind of grudge against SFPD if you looked the way he signs the letters ie the kill counts. Did they check this out thoroughly?

Much can’t be done with the letters so they say because they don’t want to deal with what I just explained. They caught criminals before from the licking of stamps. Mitochondrial DNA comes from the mother! The father is a very small pool of that! Criminals have been sent to prison on that alone by tracking down and consistent work. What’s different here. Yes technology is far advanced since then but you still have samples and you still have people alive to test them against! families etc. There will be many more feeding into the bs for years to come trust me.

With no fingerprints match & the hair in Bates hand no matching Sullivan’s hair the authorities did not pursue him any longer as a suspect for Bates murder. According to the evidence It seems that Sullivan did not kill Bates. As for the Zodiac I need to learn more to come to a conclusion. Either way these cases were brutal & I hope the truth will be discovered. Thanks for interesting video.
The lady with the baby who was captured by the Zodiac and got in his car, said that the zodiac had an acne problem on his face and that he had light brown curly hair. She saw him and survived that attack that night.
She claimed that it was him. But her whole story is questionable
Bates was definitely not murdered by the zodiac her crime was a crime of passion her throat was cut so deeply she was very nearly beheaded. It was someone that either loved or hated her passionately.
The killer loved her so much he eventually started to hate her because she didn’t feel the same way about him. The police needed to really look closer at her circle of friends and people around her that wasn’t as close.

@@charlesgardner7258 I personally have no clue. The FBI has to have a pretty decent understanding of who it is as there was DNA that was tested in this case, but they haven’t/won’t release the name of the perpetrator for some reason

I think it's possible Sullivan was responsible for Bates murder, I don't see it in the other cases. The older he got, the heavier he became, was very obese in the end. And was also institunalized i believe. He definitely didn't kill Stine. At that point, he was too big and heavy to match the suspect and also police eye witnesses of that individual.

There's literally zero evidence he couldn't have wrote those delusional writings. He wrote a thesis on cryptography, but he couldn't write a broken code? Yes, after it was finally cracked, it was found out the author made mistakes and that's why it was impossible to crack for 50 years.
Excellent video. I keep waiting and hoping for THE serious, well-researched-by-a-reliable-author, True Crime book on Ross Sullivan. Yeah, I've read all the commentary about him online, seen all the arguments for, and against him, as a suspect. He remains compelling and worth a closer look.

I was in Vermont for work, and one of the loss prevention people in the Costco I was working in came up to my coworker and I and said the usual “hi, you guys are the replacements this week” but he had a very familiar face, anyway that was a Monday, that following Wednesday he passed by and said hi like usual (he’d would pass by our area every few hours since it was alway monitored by us) and a few minutes later while checking Twitter I saw a picture of the zodiac, and i finally figured out why he looked familiar, literally looked exactly like the sketch I mean the resemblance was uncanny. After that day he did not pass again until it was our day to fly out which was Monday where he stopped by for the last time and said hi like usual for the last time. Obviously he could not be. The zodiac at all but it was pretty funny/creepy

Ross Sullivan was too tall to be the Zodiac killer. The survivors of the Zodiac described the Zodiac at about 5'8, Ross Sullivan was about 6'5.

I agree Sullivan was too tall to be Zodiac . I believe Mike M. said Zodiac was approx 5-8 . But Cecelia Shepard told the police , when she was still able to speak at the scene , that the man was about 5-11 and 6'0 . and that being that the officer who asked her was 5'10 , so she compared Zodiac's height difference from his . I believe her statement more than Mike M. who has been all over the place .
How tall was Arthur Lee Allen? Because John Carroll Lynch who played Allen in the Zodiac movie stands at 6’4.

The greatest thing that absolutely remove Sullivan without any doubt whatsoever as he is far too tall and far too heavy. The police officer described the man possibly 5'9 or 5'10 and about 180 to 200 lbs. Sullivan was 6.2 and 300 lbs.

This is an important question , did anyone know Cecelia ? If so has she have any psychic abilities, did she know of her own death in any way? I say yes. She did know, it bothered her - a lot. She knew a lot. I have a darn good reason for asking.
In the Zodiac movie Bob Vaughn’s handwriting on the movie posters matched the Zodiac letters, but nothing else was said or followed up after that… why?
My favorite (but likely wrong) theory is that each of the suspects were responsible for a single murder but left enough evidence to make everyone think it was the infamous Zodiac.

BTW Ross died of a heart attack in his 30's - young - sometime in the mid-late 70's, when was the "I'm back with you" letter show up - before or after his death? I personally think that letter is authentic.

For a long time Sullivan was my favorite suspect, especially since he worked at the library and wore army type clothes and boots, then after her murder he didn't show up for work for a while and dressed totally different. But now that more info is coming out I have doubt. We may never know, there may have been a copy cat in the area since descriptions vary so much.

FYI - I'm Sullivan's height, and wear a size 9 shoe (so no - one's height, does not mandate the male member (I got small feet for my height, ok in the other department thankfully), nor his shoe size - basically there is no corilation at all. - i.e, many short guys with large feet, and inverse etc to male apendeges - hand size, ear size, nose size, and YES even wrist size - I have small bones, so me a tall guy wears a watch with a short band (we must not assume the watch found - it was broken, so prob was just thrown down by a guy days weeks before - or if was worn by Sullivan who was 6'-2" may have had small wrists like myself!).

ALA was the Zodiac killer. Way way too many things connect back to him. I know it’s fun for people to always come up with new suspects…but sometimes the most logical answer is the right answer.

They said it was a man with a flat top haircut not a blimp that is balding that weighs 260 lbs Allen most definitely is not the zodiac. In addition gay men almost exclusively killed men not women. You can believe anything you want but DNA and fingerprints and handwriting and everything has cleared Allen. I grant you that they don't know if any of the fingerprints are actually The zodiacs but even so handwriting and DNA has cleared him.

It seems like a lot of people are ruling Ross out based on his size. Ross was listed as 6.2; however, height and weight (especially height) is always something that is greatly exaggerated.
Ross may have even been two or three inches sorter than described.

I've often wondered why the Police never had Kathleen Johns do a lineup with Arthur Allen. She spent time with him and would most definitely recognize him. It would have disqualified or convicted him . I wonder why they didn't do that.

My hunch. Whoever it was, my belief is they have ties to Gov / CIA. Someone with deep knowledge of cryptography & that type of mind. Someone with knowledge of law enforcement. & then also cover for not being found. You would never want to expose someone who works for a Gov agency if they were serials killers

Ross will always be my #1. Crazy writing style, crazy ramblings, crazy person and creepy and unsociable who liked the women at the school. Plus a crazy guy has the guts to do these crimes without what seems to be too concerned about being caught. And the desk poem is written by Ross who had easy access to that desk. And the drawing of the zodiac may be wrong too. Look at the different Deangelo drawings in that case. Some aren't even close.
You state that Ross was Zodiac as fact, you do realise how big he was yeah?
The zodiac was described by a police officer as 5 ft 9 and anywhere from 180 to 200 lb. Ross Sullivan was 6.3 and weighed 300 lbs. Also his family proved that he was in a mental hospital at the time of the murders really the only evidence they have against him is he resembles the composite but so did about 50,000 other men in that town. For the same reason Allen is not the zodiac he was too tall and he was balding and he was way too heavy none of which fit the zodiac. Lawrence Kane on the surface looks like a good suspect and there is plenty of circumstantial evidence against him until you realize that he has a very thick Yankee accent and he is 5 ft 6 in. A lot of circumstantial evidence against him he had the part of the brain damage that would cause walking irregularities and speech irregularities both of which was described as to the zodiac. But unless he could disguise his Yankee accent it could not be him and anyway he is far too short according to the police officer.

Ross Sullivan is way too tall and way too heavy. He is 6 ft 2 and the zodiac was said to be 59 or 510. The zodiac was said that weigh 180 lb and have a slight pot belly while Ross Sullivan weighed 300 lb. Even when they said the zodiac might be slightly bigger than they thought maybe 200 or 220 he certainly was not 300 lb also his family told a researcher something that proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that Ross Sullivan could not be the zodiac now the man has not shared it because he promised his family he would not but he said it proves that Ross Sullivan cannot be the zodiac. He is the least likely to be the zodiac far too tall and way too heavy.
There’s about 8 pretty good suspects. Sullivan isn’t the only one constantly mentioned. Gaikowski and Kane are a tad bit more. New names like Paul Doerr and William Andrew McDuff, too.
