what do you think about 2.5-inch drives powered only by USB, instead of traditional 3.5, Is it worth considering a change? similar ones have lower energy requirements
I really don't know what's out there for 2.5 anymore. Most of mine were under 500GBbso I never used them. I guess they use a lot less energy but their capacity size is too small. I prefer 5400RPM drives with the largest capacity to reduce electricity use.
do you know how to undervolt a graphics card so that it doesn't use so much energy while the plotter is working, my rtx 3060 12gb ranges from 17 watts to 100 watts, peaking when it detects a plot
Hey Adam, I'm not really that technical. I know you can undervolt then GPUs but I never tried it. I'm sure you can just download MSI Afterburner to tweak it. I only have 1080 GPUs but once I get the RTX 3090 for doctor plotter I can test them.
and don't you think it's better to make C31 plots on RTX 3060, which you can buy for 150-180 euros if you look hard?, ok, the plot will be larger, 40 GB, but the total cost will be lower , write what you think? thx
RTX 3060 has 12GB VRAM? Did you test how many plots you can have with it? I don't mind larger plots as long as I can have avoid adding more GPUs. The RTX 3090 is about $1000 CAD here. I don't have one so I have been plotting C31. I think all my decisions are going to be made with DrPlotter eventually. With CNI buying their tech we get an instant 3.125% profit boost and there will be no more need to have the GH farmer. I haven't had a chance to consider anything else than C31 since I only have 8GB VRam. Have you checked out DrPlotter? Looks like we will need 2x RTX 3090s. It's going to be a big investment.
am also considering buying a mini PC such as AOOSTAR GEM12 AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS, with an additional oculink output for the graphics card to reduce power consumption
