    "What's more exciting than a double line?!" It's the small things in life! 🥰 But I do really like that double line idea!

    I just found this and your mention of having to train your book to stay open made me smile. I stitch my own sketchbooks and it’s really very easy to train a stitch-bound book to stay open (don’t do this with a perfect-bound glued only spine, you’ll ruin it). It only takes a couple minutes. About as long as it takes to read this, really. Go to the back, open to the last 10-15 pages, stretch the book open wide enough that the front and back covers nearly touch. Go ahead. Don’t be afraid. 😉 Then go to the front of the book and stretch open the first 10-15 pages, matching the same bend-back action as before. Then return to the back, open the next 10-15 pages…lather, rinse, repeat back and forth between front and back every 10-15 pages until you meet in the middle of the book. By the time you get done, the spine will be relaxed enough to stay flat without arguing at whatever page you have it opened to. And it will close right back up just as easily, but on your terms, not the stitched spine’s. Cheers.

    Amanda - that checklist line on the left hand page of the weeklies has changed my life. Thank you!

    For the errant sticker - glue 😂. Love this update. I really appreciate your esthetic - so calming and something I aspire to.

    It lays flat fine! Just open it to random pages and bend backwards gently. Then once you write in it a few times it lays flat perfectly. No need to lay heavy stuff on it for days. Hope that helps!

    I've watched a lot of Hobonichi videos and your video has been the best so far. Great ideas, especially your monthly trackers in the back. Thanks!

    Hope this helps. To get the weeks to lay flat - and for ANY bound/glued book - condition the spine. As soon as you get it from front to back page by page put thumb centre spine (centre two pages), smooth gently up to top along join, down to bottom & back to centre again. Repeat front to back, page by page until you have done all pages. Then, do the same but going from back to front of the book page by page.
    This stops getting the 'split' that can happen on some spines.

    I was devastated that I couldn't get the milk tea cover (it sold out everywhere so quickly!) but the fact that it wouldn't have laid flat would have driven me insane. And it makes me feel even more comfortable with my choice of the bunny weeks.

      Seriously, be glad you didn’t get it 🤣 I’m going to keep with this one because I’ve written so much already and I don’t feel like redoing it, but it’s definitely an extra annoyance!!

    I like your system….you have a similar sense of style to what I want to do. Where in DC did you find the Hobonichi daily book? I live in the metro area. Thanks! I’m pretty new at all this. Thanks for your insights.

      Oh my gosh no way! I just moved away after living there my whole life lol. It’s called Jenni Bick, the store in DC! I really think DC needs some better stationery stores but JB at least carries FWP ink, Hobonichi, TRC, Midori, etc.!

    What pen do you use on this planner??

    • @amandaleighplans
      @amandaleighplans  Год назад +2

      Omg I am so dumb I totally forgot to talk about that!!! I use a Pilot Vanishing Point fountain pen in EF with De Atramentis Archive ink - it’s waterproof so once dry it won’t smudge, does need a minute to dry but then you can even highlight over it! Before I started using fountain pens I used the Pilot Juice .38 gel pen, and I also recommend the Uniball One as the only gel pen that dries INSTANTLY on this paper

    Where did you get that "this week" tab?

    • @amandaleighplans
      @amandaleighplans  Год назад +1

      The tab itself is from Poi & Hun but I went through my transparent sticker collection and added stickers to my tabs since I was too lazy to pull out my label maker lol! The stickers are Paperie Planning. I also use Cloth & Paper page flags and icon stickers to make tabs too!
