    Not the normal kind of content around here, but a crazy game nonetheless, and one I wanted to share. Will be back in a couple days with Kandagawa Jet Girls unboxing, and sometime shortly after that the review as well... and I guess Tark Talks is due too huh? Man... stuff is piling up.

    I am about to complete *Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana [PS4]* (roughly 70 hours of playtime) ... and just like you after this game I need something different. So this is an instant buy! Thank you so much for the review! 🙂

    Finally a game will come to type writer I knew it was worth holding onto!
    This game looks really cool I love the visual effects used in some logical puzzle games lately.

    Manifold Garden, this game looks like it would be quite enjoyable if I’m in the correct mood. I find it hard to see what the developers were thinking without a narrative, but it’s own interpretation is sometimes appreciated

    I kept seeing clips of this but nothing in-depth. On the color front I love when developers use that design language to guide you, even in more subtle ways like yellow caution tape in RE. Glad to hear its infinite nature is more inspiring than an exercise in frustration :p

    I saw the trailer for this game recently and was blown away by it, I too have been wanting try this game, it doesn't look like you can die from falling but rather just go from one area to another by jumping or letting yourself fall and have nothing to worry about, it's kinda weird that way, it really does boggle the mind. I am one from very niche games like this.

    Manifold Garden is a story of pure emotions. Maybe that's why it feels so weird. It really FEELS like you are doing something important there. There is the darkness, the fear, the corruption, some would say demons, that are holding those colorful buildng pieces in cages, if you wander around. The sound effects are really great, they really bring that uncomfort when you seek out those areas. On the other hand, you get that beautiful moments surrounded by music, when the colors win.
    Maybe that's why it feels so weird. We want something of intellect, something that our Cerebral Cortex seeks, some meaning that we can understand, not only on the emotional level, but also think and pander about. Manifold Garden only created a story that triggers your emotions towards progress in any way. It really is an experience to go through. It's just, either there is a meaning that you have to uncover, but I don't think so, I think that's exactly the point. We want to have an intellectual meaning. But it's not there.
    That's an interesting experience on its own, a story that fully fulfills your limbic system, because you have all those visual colors, sounds and music, and you see that what you do in this world matters! It really does something, and in the end everything comes together. The end is literally an explosion of colors and emotion. But no graspable intellectual meaning, that pleases our Cerebral Cortex.
    So I fully understand that feeling. I had to think about it as well. It feels, like something is missing. It is that feeling, that strangely there is everything of an emotional journey you want, but without the intellectual stimulation.

    Maybe there will be a manifold garden 2 with a pinch of story? But yeah I like the freedom to interpret. My interpretation is that we got into this world from the void to restore the world and after we've finished we go back to the void we came from. Or in a 0% run you just get out of the world and leave the world a dull dark place based of the end cutscene that got updated in once it got enough traction and the fact that the world when you come back to the start screen goes to dark mode

    Looks really cool. That idea of looking DOWN to the TOP of the world you're standing on to serve as a map sounds incredibly fascinating to me, could have a ton of applications, I hope that idea serves as inspiration for more games going forward.
    ...I still don't know what euclidean means. I can spell it though!

    • @TarksGauntlet
      @TarksGauntlet  4 года назад +1

      Our normal world is Euclidean. Non-euclidean can mean a few things. Usually meant to describe hyperbolic space but it can be any sort of space where distance bends in different ways.
      Uhm.. or something. I'm not much of a math scientist so I can't do the best to explain it. For a rough idea theres a cool vid on RUclips you can probably find just by searching "Non Euclidean world designs."

      @@TarksGauntlet Ah. Hmm, so a world with non-conforming logic, physics, etc.? I think I get it... honest... maybe.
