CHE Project - A year of atmospheric CO2 variability at the time of the Paris Agreement

The animation shows the atmospheric CO2 variability during 2015, the year the Paris Agreement was adopted. The animation highlights the fast transport of CO2 in the atmosphere associated with weather systems, as well as the slower changes following the seasonal cycle of vegetation growth (photosynthesis and respiration). In addition, the impact of fire emissions is visible, especially in tropical areas. Finally, anthropogenic emissions are visible through individual plumes of CO2 as well as an overall steady increase of concentrations from January to December.
