When I snapped my ACL I rode a few events with a brace on - it was ok until it "clunked", it was when I was standing on the pegs with my leg straight, and the upper body rotated around the knee! F*ckin painful. The ACL braces typically have stops for max bend (sounds familiar), but also they should be set so your leg can't go full straight to stop this. My meniscus was already torn, but the clunk tore the MCL too, so felt like my lower leg was barely attached for a few days :-/ A few years later I had some other knee damage and the clunking starter, was crazy painful but after the 4th time on the event the meniscus tore so badly that it jammed the knee and that would stop all riding.....keep pushing BB57 but need to stop any clunking with yer brace setting mate!
oh, I remember that piercing pain when my knee twisted And it still hasn't healed completely
FWIW Dunno if your tied to a specific knee brace brand but I use 🇦🇺 POD Active K4 knee braces & they have several variable lock out extension stop inserts if that’d help your knee? Options are 5-10 degrees,10-20 & 20-30 ..

Did your ACL in??? Likely something like that. It's not a big deal, I blew out my ACL and PCL racing an XC race here in Canada, cut back my season 2018, but i won my championship in 2019 with the blown knee... 31 months of being told my knee and pain was "normal," hahaha. Got the ACL done at 31 months, at that time, it was verified under scope. There was no ACL or PCL... you should see how much I can move my tibia back and forth...
