The usual: butt-scooching guard-pulling Brazilian rewarded for being the Butt-scooching guard-pulling Brazilian. Just as they typically ban "slams" - defined as anything that causes the butt-scooching Brazilian to lose guard and "can openers" same definition, the fix is always in.
Hoping Rickson's new organization will help to reorient BJJ back to more realistic martial arts. If they won't listen to him, I doubt they'll listen to most others.
Well I don't agree with this sentiment at all. You try to minimize Chsiev's technique by saying all he did was defend and attempt to pass using explosiveness, but at the same time say that strength is not equal to technique. What does that combination say about Galvao's technique? For 25 minutes he was unable to successfully execute a single offensive technique against someone relying on explosiveness. I think there was some excellent technique on both sides.
Actually they said the first takedown; How many times Rustam put Galvao on his back? How many times he turned him over? Alot of politics in Grappler Quest and other events; All ending with BJJ as winner.
Did he just say the guy who sat down because he was afraid to get tossed and spent the whole time on his back won, by aggressiveness? Lol. I guess they consider unsuccessful submission attempts "aggressive".
I think submission attempts need to actually be close to be considered attempts. like anyone could get into the arbar position and not even stand a chance with the tech but is that considered an attempt?
Was unfair for the russian, absolutely great technical defense and attacking from both of them, for me knowing Galvao, this match should be a DRAW, that is it!.
I was enlightening in 1993 when Royce showed the western world that you can win from the bottom. 20 years later, you are on a crusade to spread this amazing knowledge. Yes, welcome to the last millennia; you can win from the bottom. Winning from guard isn't gay, the rules that encourage this endless butt scooting are. You are so proud of your inane knowledge, that you can't even see what I'm saying. It's the RULES I'm criticizing and calling gay. The competitors would probably agree!
As a spectator sport, submission grappling is going nowhere. Despite claims of "encouraging submissions", it actually rewards the butt scooching, guard pullers which is predominantly all you'll see. The scoring in incomprehensible, subjective and doesn't reward the aggressive fighter.
At 6:02 Andre should have known Rus was gonna go belly down. Most wrestlers switch to that position anytime they are in danger of getting their guard passed.
Anyone really think Andre Galvao won that? Under any other grappling art (catch wrestling, judo, wrestling, differing jiu jitsu rules) competition he would've given up many take downs in the first 5 minutes by pulling guard. Rustam was the aggressor, on top the whole time, was trying to pass, and went for a couple submissions. Andre never had an upper hand in the match.
And this wasn't even suppose to be a jiu-jitsu tournament, but a grappling tournament. So why are the judges relying jiu-jitsu ideology in their decisions?
@Madmac79 So if Galvao sits down is that giving up the takedown out of his own will? I'm not saying that Rustam should have won.. I'm just saying that Galvao shouldn't have. What did he do that constituted a win? When you sit down you take away virtually all of your opponents chances for subs. I don't think having a hard to pass guard should equal a win.
There was no winner and no loser they should have went until there a point was scored no matter how long it took that way there was a definitive answer not an opinion horrible end to a great match
well the match was indeed something u can argue about. but i think andre should get warnings for the stand up part. he sat down like a scared bitch everytime they were up.
Rustam was using his technique and being very offensive to Andre, he had beautiful Submission defenses, etc. In no way did i see aggressiveness in Rustams eyes. Andre was just sitting on his ass the whole match hoping that Rustam would get in his guard and then submit him, thats the only position he was good at. Rustam is an expert in the guard an also an expert outside of his guard, and he is a great example of a true grappler. If you can't see this you obviously dont understand grappling.
I never said Galvao was gay. I said the rules are gay. Further, I'm not saying that the rules are somehow "homosexual." I'm saying that they are awkward, stupid, bad and lame; a statement that is supported by the fact that the majority of comments on this video are critical of the rules. You guys are hyper-sensitive. Further support for the gayness of conventional sport BJJ rules is the fact that the Gracie tournament now features submission only rules.
Aggression is not equal to offense. Strength is not equal to technique. Andre was never close to having his guard passed. His opponent was only able to defend submissions and try to pass by exploding and scrambling. If you can't see this you obviously don't understand jiu jitsu
@Madmac79 I believe the rules were no advantages. When you sit down you do take away almost all of the top guys chances for subs. If the guy on bottom has a hard to pass guard then he'll almost win every time if the rules are set up that way. Neither guy got the best of each other. Should have been a draw. Galvao couldn't submit or sweep.
I think the ref said that the win came from "aggressiveness". Yeah, I call BS. They should have just called it was it was -- a draw -- and split money evenly.
Actually, I was saying that the rules are gay. Not gay as in homosexual, but gay as meaning awkward, strange, and bad. So, by your argument, you are the gay boy for having homosexual thoughts and using the word "genedal" in the same sentence as grappling. Freudian slip? Have nice day.
BULL SHIT .... RUSTAM GOT ROBBED, AGAIN. RUSSIANS ARE BEING FUCKED OVER IN ALL MARTIAL COMPETITION DUE TO GEO-POLITICS. This was a shameful act of cowardice!
@JGroomsMMA What do we think is irrelevant, if the rules of the tournament (which I still can't find neither on the official site) allows butt scooting without losing points, then Galvao rightly won. And anyway I don't get why by sitting down you "take away virtually all of your opponents chances for sub"... that's simply not true. If your opponent is looking for the td like Rustam, then Andre by pulling guard simply made half the work for him...it's not like he's stalling or such.
@JGroomsMMA That's not a wrestling tournament either. Chsiev didn't put Andre on his back on the first video, so the one you are talking about shouldn't count as a takedown. And anyway Andre came on top at around 5:35 , in my book that one is a sweep even if Rustam gave up the position on his own will... also I don't understand why in your opinion almost passing guard should be rewarded and almost sweeping or submitting, not. Galvao won, get over it.
@WinsutonSumisu Funny how people are always quick to dismiss something as "Gay" when they don't understand it, don't comprehend it and are usually horrible at fighting themselves. BJJ has proven to be a deadly weapon in MMA. I would love to see you challenge one of these guys to a grappling match just to see how many seconds it would take them to put you to sleep right from that same "Gay" position. I am just wondering, when you get tapped from the "Gay" position, what does that make you?
@JGroomsMMA attempts for submissions and sweeps count for advantages. aggressiveness doesnt work in the sport of jiujitsu. if you're thinking mma, thats a total different sport.
Rustam does not seem to know how to pass the guard. I give this to Galvao, more credible submission attempts although that neck crank was pretty scary.
Lmao he does not seem to know how to pass the guard ? Lol he is way better then you will ever be , galvan is just amazing . Fucking white belts always think they know everything lol
I think it was a good call, if you watch the first two parts the commentator clearly states "there are no advantage points submission is the mission" and andre clearly went for more submissions throughout the whole match
its not a bjj competition, its sub grappling which includes all styles.I agree that mch of rus sucess depends on his wrestling and athleticism, hes not technical on the ground, but hes doing all this without ever training bjj, respect to that but unless he does ,he wont improve much further.
@chunkay1713 Exactly. This isn't mma which is scored by idiot boxing judges who give points to someone stalling on top. It is a grappling tournament and Galvao threw more sweep and sub attempts.
@WinsutonSumisu If that's being "gay" then I want to be "gay." Andre Galvao is one of the best BJJ practitioners in the world. I would kill to be as good as he is at BJJ. There are some problems with sport BJJ rules, but that's the case for any sport. He was only scooting because he knew Rustam's take-downs were superior, so he was playing smartly. If you fought this dude he would slam you and choke you out within 30 seconds.
@NoSVitaminC dude are u blind? yea Rustam was the agressor but it dont mean he was winning. Andre went for multiple sub attempts and sweeps. idk what u were watching
...most aggressive butt scooting? I'm sorry, sport BJJ is gay. Grappling is all good but when the rules encourage you to lie on your back with your legs spread.. that's gay. Hopefully the striking in MMA will change this over time. GnP brings some reality back into the game.
BJJ is running out of time in prize mma, the very best of mma fighters are destroying bjj masters with striking, speed, and overwhelmingly fast, and brutal ground and pound. BJJ IS THE PAST, JUST LOOK WHAT HOLLEY DID TO ....WHAT WAS HER NAME, again? Look at Mcgregor too, same deal.
RUSTAM, should get 5minutes with each judge for robbing him.
Chsiev 100% WIN
Hilarious, Rustam mops the mat with Andre and Andre still gets the decision.
Rustam is the Lion, real deal
Actually they said the first takedown; How many times Rustam put Galvao on his back? How many times he turned him over? Alot of politics in Grappler Quest and other events; All ending with BJJ as winner.
Did he just say the guy who sat down because he was afraid to get tossed and spent the whole time on his back won, by aggressiveness? Lol. I guess they consider unsuccessful submission attempts "aggressive".
Well the goal is to submit your opponent so that would make sense.
There was no submission, it was declared he won on aggression, yet was afraid to engage without sitting first. So no, it makes no sense.
Agreed :-/
I think submission attempts need to actually be close to be considered attempts. like anyone could get into the arbar position and not even stand a chance with the tech but is that considered an attempt?
@@yam831 well it wasn't a wrestling match it was a submission match so in theory, the judges are correct.
"This guy doesn't care... he's a bear... I JUST RHYMED!" LOL
"Rus doesn't care. He's a bear. I just rhymed."
Was unfair for the russian, absolutely great technical defense and attacking from both of them, for me knowing Galvao, this match should be a DRAW, that is it!.
Good sportsmanship, Rustam. Nice man.
I agree that Galvao didn’t really win here, BUT....Rustam is a beast and this is the highest level, so I was certainly entertained
Freestyle wrestling is power.
That's a bs decision. I love BJJ but Galvao lost!
Galvão não foi eficiente, o Rustam Chsiev venceu.
Rustam clearly won this match . . That judge must have been on drugs
Yeah, same drugs as Galvoa was taking. 🤣
Good Call, close but Good call.
Galvao's got the craziest guard wow this was a good match.
there's this magical thing called a search bar, check it out :D (or ask nicely)
There was no winner and no loser they should have went until there a point was scored no matter how long it took that way there was a definitive answer not an opinion horrible end to a great match
well the match was indeed something u can argue about. but i think andre should get warnings for the stand up part. he sat down like a scared bitch everytime they were up.
luta muito o André
I think catch wrestling would help his style more than BJJ for this type of competition.
All I see is 30 minutes of ground and pound.
Zangief vs Blanca
It looked like he would have really had the scissor sweep at 4:55
I think Andre attacked more. Rustam likes to stall it seems like. I think it was a fair pick.
is that jacare at 8:57 to the left?
Rustam's heart is the v8/500kWh- engine
they should of called it a draw and split the prize money
Rustam was using his technique and being very offensive to Andre, he had beautiful Submission defenses, etc. In no way did i see aggressiveness in Rustams eyes. Andre was just sitting on his ass the whole match hoping that Rustam would get in his guard and then submit him, thats the only position he was good at. Rustam is an expert in the guard an also an expert outside of his guard, and he is a great example of a true grappler. If you can't see this you obviously dont understand grappling.
obvious bias against wrestlers
I never said Galvao was gay. I said the rules are gay. Further, I'm not saying that the rules are somehow "homosexual." I'm saying that they are awkward, stupid, bad and lame; a statement that is supported by the fact that the majority of comments on this video are critical of the rules. You guys are hyper-sensitive.
Further support for the gayness of conventional sport BJJ rules is the fact that the Gracie tournament now features submission only rules.
judges made the right decision but it was extremely close
Aggression is not equal to offense. Strength is not equal to technique. Andre was never close to having his guard passed. His opponent was only able to defend submissions and try to pass by exploding and scrambling. If you can't see this you obviously don't understand jiu jitsu
*Rustam
it's just an interview, but u see him do the berimbolo thing to take the back @ 1:05. i assume he wins by poins:
/watch?v=zz51JD4Ut24
what submission attempts? the .5second uma attempts? rustam went for risky leg locks and constantly tried to pass the gaurd he was the aggresor
Rustam seems to have better bjj but those sub attempts gave andre the win.
If the whole point of jiu jitsu is sit on ass and defend, then I really do not understand it
rustam is going toe-to-toe with the adcc champ... and then loses to a purple belt
I think the call is right that Galvao won. He had more submission attempts than Rustam had near passes
this announcer tho... haha
show me the vid
I think the ref said that the win came from "aggressiveness". Yeah, I call BS. They should have just called it was it was -- a draw -- and split money evenly.
why has rustam never competed in the ADCC?
Actually, I was saying that the rules are gay. Not gay as in homosexual, but gay as meaning awkward, strange, and bad. So, by your argument, you are the gay boy for having homosexual thoughts and using the word "genedal" in the same sentence as grappling. Freudian slip? Have nice day.
this match really makes you wonder what rus would have done in adcc had he competed and the man cannot really pass guard and doesnt even train bjj
good fight......very terrible comments.....guy should go back commenting golf or something
Yes, but Rustam had good base
Typical BJJ weinie reply. Andre got man handled the whole match.
Rustam Should of won because he seemed more aggressive but that's my opinion.
Galvao won by actually using bjj. Rustam isnt a finisher, but if he put a focus on that, he'd be amazing. Almost as good as Galvao.
BULL SHIT .... RUSTAM GOT ROBBED, AGAIN. RUSSIANS ARE BEING FUCKED OVER IN ALL MARTIAL COMPETITION DUE TO GEO-POLITICS. This was a shameful act of cowardice!
awesome match !! Galvao is a Beast.!!
More like a lamb.
что за правила тут???как негр мог выиграть,если он все время на спине провел???
@JGroomsMMA What do we think is irrelevant, if the rules of the tournament (which I still can't find neither on the official site) allows butt scooting without losing points, then Galvao rightly won. He lost to a purple belt?
War Andre!!!
These events are dominated by BJJ guys.
@ANG3LiiToVU3LA Wasnt aware this was a "Jiu Jitsu" tournament
@WinsutonSumisu Funny how people are always quick to dismiss something as "Gay" when they don't understand it, don't comprehend it and are usually horrible at fighting themselves. Гальвао хороший спортсмен, но здесь однозначно выиграл Рустам, по проведению приёмов рустам их провел больше,
Rustam won !!!Andre crawls like a worm)))Rustam won unfair refereeing in America
@JGroomsMMA attempts for submissions and sweeps count for advantages. aggressiveness doesnt work in the sport of jiujitsu. if you're thinking mma, thats a total different sport.
top jiu jitsu competitors and some woman shouting comments as if she knows anything lol "takedown control"! yea thanks lady.
What??? It should have been either given to Rustam or a draw at best.
crap call ... Rus was more aggressive & had more control being on the top
Galvao *
it was close , it shoulda been a drawl . I think politics played in this decision
I think it was a good call, if you watch the first two parts the commentator clearly states "there are no advantage points submission is the mission" and andre clearly went for more submissions throughout the whole match
Keenan Cornelius
Rustam has a much more attractive skillset
Não vi onde o André venceu esta luta, sinceramente !!!
its not a bjj competition, its sub grappling which includes all styles.I agree that mch of rus sucess depends on his wrestling and athleticism, hes not technical on the ground, but hes doing all this without ever training bjj, respect to that but unless he does ,he wont improve much further.

Нормально Андрюха на жопе ездить умеет
@NoSVitaminC dude are u blind? yea Rustam was the agressor but it dont mean he was winning. Andre went for multiple sub attempts and sweeps. idk what u were watching
Eu Everton Romero Uberaba casa jiu Jitsu vai olha 379??
REALLY?
In adcc rules galvao loses this.

wtf, its a sitting nab. Not compareable to rustam at all.
@xAristaicx LOL
BS decision!!!
@JGroomsMMA lol. Galvao. WON. Nothing. Else. To. Say. GG
