Honestly the loss of language and the rapid spread of english endlessly depresses me any time i bother to think too hard about it. Once i spiraled into an existential crisis for two days over the fact that in my home country, more signs were in English than our native language. The fact that people feel they need English to express intellectual thought is just so sad. And here i am, writing this comment in english, thinking in english. For the record i don’t have anything against english in and of itself, i just wish it didnt overshadow other languages so much.
I totally agree! I feel like so many people have been brainwashed into thinking that English is superior and that they NEED to speak it in order to have opportunities, which is sad. Even many native English speakers think like this and therefore don’t even bother learning another language in their lifetimes.
