So glad the comments aren't turned off on this one. I'm trying to learn about Polynesian dances and I kind of rely on the comments to let me know if it's what the title says it is. This is breath taking. I love the men and women dancing together, also love how there are dancers of all sizes.
So beautiful. Also, impressive are the sheer logistics and coordination involved: developing the program... music and choreography for 150+ dancers, coordinated costumes for all, rehearsals (obviously, many hours involved), just getting everybody on the same page... wow!
🙋🏻♂️ I’m Islander and many cultural dance out there ... the big HI. Well known also but this is the biggest group cultural I’ve ever seen this dancing not easy to do and there’s a lot of them doing it that’s huge stage and they at end to end 😱 very impressive love watching these kind of shows but this takes the cake in group 💯❤️🙏🏼💯!!!!!!
The dancers are always so damn incredible, men and women and the women so beautiful. Pacific Island woman dancing always make my blood pound just like bagpipes lol go figure. Love both lol
Beautiful and seriously amazing event. (just a shame we can see to much 'Western' influence in the people. Wish we could have left native people to their own instead of injecting Western blood into indigenous cultures). Either way, this is amazing and how they can keep it up for so long is crazy, this is a very hard dance to do and in that tempo. Absolutely amazing dancers.
Is this anywhere near right? Is Tahitian music/culture a lot like a mix of Hawaii and Africa? Like Hawaiian clothes and more African (I think)ish music? Or are they their own totally different culture?
John the Medic take 2 this is part of polynesia. This is from the south pacific know as tahiti. We call this ori tahiti. Alot of hawaii people dance tahitian so it can confuse people. We are they are very similar in culture. But yes it is its own
@@Kumutuna Tera te faahiahia (I hope the translator I used was right ;) )! And I was half expecting a not so calm response (more of a, "how dare you?! We're nothing like either of them and how dare you not understand our culture!' not that every single person on the internet is like that but its unfortunately a common reaction) but thanks for not being that way lol.
hawaian kanaka orignaly are from Tahiti. Beside, we all klnow that the humanity started in Africa don't we? But never confuse with others cultures. Each one is proud of their own ones. Please, check up in a dictionary before posting your comment. Ones can find it very condescending and even worse, very insulting
John the Medic. The people of Tahiti, Rapanui (Easter Island), Havaii, Cook Island and Aotearoa (NZ) are of one people but each to their own Cultures and dances. But their stories are somewhat similar but in different ways. Africans are no where near this culture of my homeland Tahiti. Beautiful heiva i tahiti video.
@@kileyjohnthemedic402 john these cultures have no connection to africa just as swedish is to mongolian or turkish is to peruvian no history no similarities unless you can spot anything remotely african
