I picked up the GTX version a couple of weeks ago to run in the snowy and icy conditions here in Québec. They help keep my feet warm(er) and dry, and the Vibram outsole has been handling the packed snow on road surfaces pretty well. So far, I’m quite happy with them.

I just got a pair of these 2 days ago, swapped by the shoe shop from a pair of hoka atr7's that were cracked on the outsole after only a vouple of months. My first impressions are they look fantastic and a fairly comfortable, not quite as comfy as the hokas but close. However that lip at the back doesn't work for me, i do a lot of beach walking and it flicks soft sand up onto the back of my legs then inevitably back down into the shoes. Im tempted to cut them off but probably would void any warranty. Walking in the bush yesterday i found they slipped a few times on rocks, which surprised me with the vibram. Perhaps that will improve with wear. Never had that with the hokas although they have deeper lugs. So to cut or not to cut that damn lip. that is the question.

Toe bumper looks a bit softer which is good. An earlier version really rubbed my toe.

It looks like the 1080 v13

Isn't the Hierro a "road to trail" version of 1080 to begin with? Same as Challenger and Clifton. Better outsole, lilttle bit firmer.

@@nomadhabit Gotcha, thanks! I wish companies would go out of their way and actually say which road-to-trail/trail shoe is equivalent of what so we don't have to guess.
