There is a reason it looks cheaper in these areas. Oxnard has decades of corruption & crime it cant distance from & so sad for ocean community. Their sewer system is ancient. Simi is a wasteland and is called Sarcoma Valley due to city council approving & building homes on top of 1959 partial nuclear meltdown toxic site where the soil & water are questionable & continue to divide city

K Mcy it’s not the worst one in history just stop exaggerating in cherynobl isn’t safe until 1000 years have passed and plus we don’t drink the tap water that much and we purify the water so just don’t even try I’ve lived in Simi my whole life and you think the ground is contaminated sure that’s true but we wash our crops and they constantly get washed so why does it matter and I haven’t gotten a disease so don’t even bring it up because how many people do you know that have died of a disease that has been caused by nuclear radiation or energy tell me that

We moved there in fall if 69..I came from a 4 yr HS district but was supposed to be a 9th grader at sequoia but it wasnt finished yet so they sent us to simi high..my stepdad hired on to the ventura county sheriff's dept..helped set up the SAR program
We lived right next the the park adjoining sequoia and the elementary school..interesting side note..that park was supposed to be a private park and pool ( pools since been filled in )..for the Tempo and Encore tract homes built adjoining it..but the city was deeded it in exchange for rezoning favors by Larwin Homes...(huge scandal about that )...the Encore tract only encompassed about 55 homes on Aztec..Acorn and Lucas cts..along with a stretch of Hietter ...Encore homes where larger and mostly 2 story .
The old Santa Susanna airport was still active and had a small flight school...we'd ride dirt bikes up to the old wash next to the Texas tract called Footprint...or down the la ave wash to the pass road to sneak into Hopetown...sat nights in the old thriftys parking lot on tapo for cruise night...that side of tapo wasnt in the city yet..simi cops would watch burnouts and two light pole length races from across the st at Vons..I got my first ticket from a then simi pd reserve officer named Ainsworth ( which i beat) who was also a teacher at simi high..I saw a news bit on cbs news once with him and he was a Lt i think by then.
The simi pd raid of the party at lemon drive fiasco...the guys at the TPCK house..the purple cow klan..for the fiberglass cow they stole from the chase bros dairy down by royal..lol
Muntz cycle park..simi drive in..larwin square..fred and noras Italian deli....nickle ice creams at thriftys...the little chase bros drive in diary on tapo and cochran....good times...our house was about a 40k back then..now it's a half mill and simis just another cookie cutter bedroom community...but it was a pretty fun place to spend some teen yrs in back then

Ah, Simi Valley. Where to go when you have no aspirations. When you can’t make it in LA, but want to barely cling to California. Where you pay $700k to have your electricity cut every sweltering summer. A community of smart geriatric folks, who are cashing out the homes they bought for 300k for over double that price, and whose days are filled with the incessant sound of their HOA's lawns being mowed. A place of limbo, where you don't know when or how your days passed you by.

Omg. You r spot on. The school district quote "from here to anywhere" has us on the floor laughing in tears. Needs to be "from here to no where"! Maybe 20 mins to Northridge to get a teaching certificate & right back to nothing-ness! Or police dept where "you too can be a millionaire" for working a blue collar job sucking city dry with unnecessary overtime & over inflated pensions! Then council person!

Simi is a beautiful place to live. I lived there for 24 years in the Bridle Path, an equestrian area. Upon retiring though, I left in a big hurry. The biggest problem with Simi is it's in California.
