I have an earlier release, Sauternes and peat is an odd combination. The Glenmorangie Nectar d’Or shows off the sweetness of the Sauternes cask better (in my opinion). But there are probably a select handful of people that will really dig this one.
As others have said, thier own barley is peated only to 20ppm with Port Ellen maltings coming in around 50 ppm. Or at least that's my understanding. One day I'll go there, then I'll know! My problem is I almost expect that from every bottle. I bring a new bottle home and can't wait to open. Surely this will be the best ever .... then sadly they almost always are not. I think I may like this a little more than you, but fair it is only "ok", but not great. Cheers!
Bart mentioned his expectations of tobacco notes. I have yet to find a scotch that has that note. Is there any you could direct me to? I've only found it in double oaked ryes at this point.
I've got to ask you, how do you get your hands on these bottles so quickly? I'm in New York City and I can probably find about 10% of what is reviewed online.

The coin on the bottle is like a challenge coin. A very nice review gentlemen.

Thanks for the review guys!
I’ve been on the fence on this one. Kilchoman Fino I absolutely love, but Sauternes has been hit and miss for me.
That Fino Sherry Cask Kilchoman is sumpin' special
Yeah 100% islay is lighter peat and on site floor malting. Love that Sauternes cask. $125 back in 2020
“There’s Peat on it, I’m going in!” 😂🤣

Interesting! Not sure how they'd be released in Kansas that much quicker than NY.

You know thanks to the clowns that are “apparently” running this country everything is that much more expensive including mediocre whiskey! 🥃
