I was there, and when I tell you that people were afraid to move or blink. She had us in a trance. Edit: saw her again this summer in Central Park. Her voice is still just as captivating. I was hoping she would sing this some again, but she didn’t.
Oh is that what it was??? 😂 cause I was mad at y’all for that light applause I would have been screaming & crying 😂😂😂😂 but I feel you tho... it probably was even more intense in person!
This vocal coach is on a different level than the sea of other vocal coaches. Very insightful vocal coach! And I mean real insight, wisdom and understanding of voice not just being good at talking and talking. And can sing too! Fantastic video.
I REALLY appreciate that you’re using pedagogical terms 😭 There are TOO many people on here doing what you’re doing without proper knowledge, training, experience, & CERTIFICATION!
I'm a vocal coach in British Columbia, Canada and friend, you are absolutely blowing my mind with your analysis...your ability to replicate riffs and also describe the technique being employed is beyond incredible! Subscribed!
Nope not a song to move to... but most definitely a song to SHOUT to. I mean... when I hear raw voices and tones like Yebba's, I can't help but give, "stank" faces, the ocassional deep "Mm!" And such lol I could NOT be as motionless like the folks in her audience 🤣 lol I am soooooo grateful that you've FINALLY are analyzing this. I'd love to sit on the sofa beside you (dibs on left side) and just hear your reaction to her singing the entire song hahahaha.
Yessss!! It’s ALLLL stank faces & deep “mm!s” over here too 😂😂 literally the whole time!! I be falling out! just shaking my head the whole time bc I can’t with this one.... this song tew much chile 😅
YES! The first time I heard this song I nearly cried, especially when she started the wails, I was utterly awed and enchanted by her voice and the complete authenticity and rawness she displayed in this song. I got chills with every run, hum and head-thrown-back note👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾GORGEOUS😫💞💞💞
I have watched A LOT of commentary videos on this song. You by far are one of the few who actually understood what Yebba was conveying here. Not to mention you use the terminology, which gives me an opportunity to learn something! THANK YOU for this and your channel. I don't even know how I got to your channel, but you are phenomenal. Can't wait to watch more of your videos!
You ministered to me.....Your gift was already validated when it was given to you. Thats powerful. Thanks for that. Perfection is not in human nature. This was very helpful to me.
Sir!!! You were preaching a whole word about perfection! I also love the way you don't just "ooh and ahh" about the artists, you explain how they actually make the sounds that they make.
Thank you so much for that. "Don't strive for perfection. There is no perfection in humanity. Strive to be your best self. " I'm taking that and running with /singing it. Lol.
The 1st time I saw this video of YEBBA was also the 1st time I’d ever heard her, baby - I was literally SOBBING 3 minutes in…. Like, ma’am….wow, speak to my heart. 😩🙌🏽👏🏽✨
You posted a short and it made me come back to watch the full again. Even with all the stops to explain i was sitting through chills and holding back tears. THE GIFFFTTTTT this woman has !
I’m a guy who’s heard this song and watched her video several times, but because today, I can fully empathize with someone who’s dealing with the feelings of being betrayed after fully committing… watching her pain is, mmm, emotional.
This song means a lot 😢 dedicated to her mom who committed suicide after dealing with mental health issues. Started as a different meaning, but she gave it away free afterward. This song is personal to me and now watching this video, you helped show how beautiful she put it together ❤️
I also prefer the non perfect moments in singing. She was so vulnerable in this, it was refreshing. The yodelling was sensational, she performed vocal acrobatics throughout.
MAAAANNNNNNN!! Listening to your critique on this, and the emotion she amplifies while singing... I didn't realize how much I just NORMALLY do this!! I do weddings, funerals, etc. I have people YEARS LATER, telling me how that emotion I had, helped them thru THEIR emotions... I. AM. BLESSED!!💖😭🙏
Great video! I’ve watched a fair number of vocal coaches react to this song, and you are a standout, with some spot-on, really insightful comments, plus a great voice to demonstrate what you are talking about. Keep up the good work!
Bay-Bee, this is pure pain! Sis has had a man make her feel like...I can't do this no mo! Period, this is storytelling at its finest! He hurt her and I'm so grateful because the result is this level of artistry.
Those humms and growls, you know what that means. It's about to go down! Yes, she is telling this story and I can visualize it. I could literally direct the video based on her colorful delivery.
This is one of the BEST performances I’ve EVER seen PERIODT! Ever since time I see this video I get chiiilllls! The passion, the talent, UNBELIEVABLE!!! 🤯
This analysis is amazing; Jaron Legrair has an incredible insight into voice production on a physical and emotional level that is unbelievably thought provoking and inspiring. Someone commented that he's on a different level and I agree. Yebba too is a breath taking artist doing a multi faceted performance that I learn from every time I watch/listen to it; both the vocal coach commenting and the artist performing are awe inspiring and surprisingly humble/welcoming; I look forward to appreciating more from each of them, and thank you so much for this analysis!!!!
Sir....if I had a comment you already fed me my lines because your read on this experience was so specific and dead on. Give me the context, take me on the journey, color my perception and absolutely mesmerize me! I'm here for all of that!!!❤❤❤🙏 #SomeoneWhoGetsIt😉
You articulate everything so well. The way you express the technical aspects of singing with your own vocal philosophy makes these videos so interesting. People are not only experiencing the talent on display but also “your” talent to express your thoughts. Thank you
Yebba is a whole different level. This was the first time I had ever heard her or of her . Blew my mind. I know you get a million requests but please please oh please react to LP. Most people first hear Lost On You but I would love to see you react to her cover of Halo Live from East West Studios.
Holy shit you’re easily the best vocal coach here in the RUclips business. You keep it fun for the people who just want to see peoples eyes glow up when we hear the same thing.
Thanks for sharing your gift with us! We don't deserve you but we appreciate you. You are truly an encouraging soul and deserve all the positive affirmations I see in the comments. Much love from Baltimore!
FIRST OF ALL I LOVE YOU ! as a musical theater sophomore college student I am gaining so much insight and education especially when you speak of the anatomy of the voice . My first love will always be R&B and soul because the connection I feel is so RAW but I am person who is versatile and love stepping out of my comfort zone hence to why i am a MT major. I would love to see you analyze Audra Mcdonald !!!!! she is a beast.

Great analysis! Yebba is one of my favorite vocalists. Would love to see you analyze an oldie but goodie: For Every Mountain by Kurt Carr. The soloist is AMAZING!
Loved this analysis. Very insightful and understanding where the core of this performance is without underappreciating the artist's choices. Also, your voice is gorgeous. Thnx :)

FACTS!!! Could make Tara Simons shut all the way up!!
For sure. He knows his stuff.
Whew that “worked so hard to keep you satisfied” really hit different 😭😭😭
She sung that song. She put all her pain, and feeling into it.
That’s how you make a song cry 😢!!
The fact that she could even sing these words with everything that was going on during that time, is absolutely astonishing to me.
“TECHNIQUE IS THE ASSURANCE OF YOUR GIFT”🔥

Her incredible vocal control and raw emotional presentation brings me to tears every single time I watch this video.
