Thing that India had boomed in digital is all thanks to JIO.
We had to pay RS 298($4-5) per month to get 1 GB internet before 2016.

The goods transactions are monitored very strictly out here. I can relate to why Indian Gov is using high import tariffs, the major reason here is Indian MSME's (Micro Small Medium Enterprises) constitute to 30% + of employment and 70% of those who're working in MSME's are from Rural areas. Now this becomes important coz India has more villages than cities, so if tariffs are decreased below a threshold, then India's rural class faces severe employment issues. More employment issues lead to more poverty and ultimately it can branch out in the form of inflation and several other stuff. All these things go out of control for Gov Of India once it initiates the process to decrease import tariffs and these things are costlier for Indian economy to handle. So Gov takes a balanced approach of providing cushions to MSME's by giving them PLI's(Product Linked Incentives) which are incentives given when specific targets are reached. Honestly speaking, India is doing good and striving to be better, considering other impediments which India is fighting against. I'm asserting this positively because in 1947 when we got independence, we were given food aid by the US and fast forward to today, India's annual wheat production is well over 100M Tonnes. So yes! India is not the next china, India is the next big thing. Thank you, if you had the patience to read such a long story!

The West would certainly want India to become the next China, cuz it stands to gain everything economically from the rise of India, that they did from that of china; but without the risk of India turning rogue. It is easier to do regime change in India than in China because of democracy, so India will always be a more controlled power. No matter how rich, the moment any Indian govt wants to act funny, there are 100s of political parties that the west can exploit. Also causing riots and mayhem is a cake walk in India. So why not? In fact India didn't become what China became in the last decade was by choice. Doors were always open.

It's quite scary to see how much turmoil foreign forces managed to create in Hong Kong, constantly adding fuel to the fire. In the same way, you see that Taiwan which has had a decent relationship with China for decades suddenly moved towards a very anti-China stance in the past decade. It is easy for the West to influence public opinion (with the Internet) and political parties (with corruption) in these countries. The US basically own all big social media like Google, Facebook, Twitter, and can easily tweak subtly the algorithms to show more of certain news and influence elections.

India is actively changing the way how it is evolving, honestly speaking this current government has more of a vision compared to previous ones and its paying off dividends. Not only we are growing powerful geopolitically, but also exports are going up but so are imports. There is still scope of creating alot of jobs in textiles while is still a HUGE sector in India and it can be raised 20x times. We've already went over Bangladesh's textile imports in just 2 years of this government's planning and its going to go even further up. Why and how did this happen? Digital revolution! everyone is being spoonfed with digital means to run their commerce and trade, they are literally sending government agents to the poorer sections of society and showing them how to use this as their advantage. The access to market is becoming far more greater than it used to be.
India already has a booming service sector, what we need is a strong manufacturing base that can absorb the lower to middle class population we have. With PLI which stands for production linked incentives, which this video failed to mention India already is second best manufacturing destination right behind China. India will take a few years to grow its internal eco-systems and go very strongly into electronics. Mobiles, laptops, PC and alot of these sort of things will shift from China to India very powerfully.
This is the first time we have a actually worthy man in power, with all the power he can have in the seat of PM. India is actively planning for future and tapping into all sorts of ways it can to reduce the imports. Which means Ethanol blending, Using hydrogen as fuel, E-Vehicles...all those things which can lower the import of crude oil. India will never be another China. India is India.

If automation is implemented in certain places in India where workers need to take health precautions like
    1) Working in coal deposits, trust me I've trained at thermal units for 6 months and the workers had respiratory problems unless they check up and they need to highly paid.
    2) Working in factories where pollution is high.
    3) Implementing a good Traffic system, with a proper signaling system where there is no necessity of a traffic police.
    etc..
Automation is good and must be implemented where human can't able to do the work effectively at long run but not to replace human.
In other words I'd like to see India as 30% automated to beat a completely automated country China.

the government has placed high import taxes due to the dumping practices of china and various countries. countries like china usually dump large amounts of goods/raw materials subsidized by the Chinese government. Due to the cheap rates, the factories/ consumer starts buying those cheap goods, affecting whatever small amount is produced in India. these import duties are usually only on selective products
and Bloomberg is usually pessimistic about India they will never show the growth or anything, they just highlight the negative, although that is also important, they should show the positives too

    • @Neil6393

Anti dumping duty is charged separately on goods that are sold below fair market value. It cannot be applied on every import lol. Import taxes has always been high in india to promote Indian manufacturers. This practice worked during 1990's and early 2000's but its only going to harm india in today's world.

That'll cause more problems going forward but we have covered that aspect with welfare schemes so we're not that worse off as long as next government doesn't just cut them off. People do not understand what people at the lower levels getting their monthly amount means...you are increasing purchasing power of the lowest rung of society. Bangladesh has done it with old school methods, The world hasn't caught upto what India has done and they don't understand what Modi has been upto. With the horrible governance from our current government, the Indian GDP isn't going to increase to even $3 Trillion Dollars, let alone $5 Trillion by 2025. The government had been ruining the economy, they have imposed huge redundant taxes, and have forced many companies out of India. Because of this, many people have been pushed into poverty and currently 280 Million people are living in Poverty in India. I just hope that the government gets changed soon, or they understand their makes and reform the issues without just talking, but with action.

OOf this video, Retrospective taxes was started by previous govt, and required major legislation in both houses to reverse old law. *Fact that retrospective taxes have been abolished couple of years ago now by law, and this documentary still wants to harp on it, makes me wonder on their objective. The problems they have listed in India, do they still exist is the question, if not, then should documentary be about India has overcome past hurdles etc and ready for business - its like they know India will be next China and have to make a documentary about it, but lets take money from china and make it the most negative way possible*

India us developing it's infrastructure to reduce Logistics and increase trade , As china is Communist so they developed fast but india is democratic so u can say there ate many hurdles. Some project also slow bcz of politics ,NGOs. India needs more Reforms and policy.
Now India is doing best in foreign policy to attract FDI ( $88 billion recently) and more fdi morr development. But i can say India will definitely grow faster upto 2030( 9-10 trillion) 3rd largest economy and India have much potential to replace China.
Modi is one of the best PM of india, who transformed India as new India 🇮🇳. If i explained how then i can't cuz u need one more video for that.
India for now need One nation One election to reduce expenditure in election , UCC CAA ( for Internal stability), More industrial city, economic corridor.
By 2024 india will have American quality roads and upto 2025 india Infrastructure will be much develop , cuz it's construc. is faster

China's economy grew because of exports - the focus on their internal markets came later. It's the other way round for India - local market growth early on, consequently build manufacturing base and improve quality for local market as it matures and moves up the value chain - those low prices become a competitive advantage for exports later. There are already several examples of such process and success.

I'm Unable to understand why India wants to attract foreign companies to establish factories here. The Country with huge population is obviously has huge demands which should has to be lead us establishing our own companies, making them bigger by getting in-home profit, exporting the production. The perfect Examples are: Byju's, unacademy (education); Swiggy, Zomato (food delivery); Capillary Technologies (Capillary Technologies is a software product company, which provides cloud-based Omnichannel Customer Engagement, eCommerce platform and related services for retailers and brands). This proves that we doesn't need any foreign support for our economic developments.

A country without being manufacturing hub can never become regional or world power...if u r thinking that homegrown start-ups is alone do good for india then there is funding which is largely invested by foreign players..swiggy,zomato,lenskart etc all have major funding from foreign players like Softbank...china is today so large because of manufacturing that western companies shifted their plant in china...apart from manufacturing china building it's own companies and other things as they get money from manufacturing sector so u can never say that why india want companies to come in india they come they invest dollar take local currency and setting up there plant and cycle goes on... Before 1991 we r like that we don't want foreign companies and u know what happened at that time... We have to industrilize ourselves till we have healthy wealth distribution and per capita GDP...china despite being 2nd largest economy have per capita 10,000$ and india today have 2500$ it's only four times vice -versa to GDP to...

Govt of India has been strictly following everything to protect its indigenous trade and business which ofcourse hinders the MNCs and foreign companies. That has both sides. For example (Negative) due to make in india and many tarrif and taxes Tesla isn't still being able to be sold or used in indian streets although Tesla is promising in making cars suitable for the market . But(positive) Tata and many other companies have started using their own research and FDIs to make new Electric concept vehicles which will soon by 2025 be released for indian market and then to the world .

No. That is a stupid idea. We should give incentives to those that add more value in their products within India, but shouldn't outright BAN raw material exports.
Take the titanium industry of India, for example. Had we not had a developed Titanium mining sector, we wouldn't have been able to create the Titanium Sponge plant in India and then not have been able to create the Titanium vertical at MIDHANI that today can meet all of India's titanium needs end-end within India. This phenomenal achievement wouldn't have been possible without India starting with Titanium ore export.

Diving through the comments, I find that the pride of the Indians is not a problem that can be solved easily. From a geopolitical perspective, South Asia has been extremely toxic and confined to their own little bubble that their nation is supposed to be the best.
Taking the case of us Indians, we don’t help an ally nation without mentioning it in their faces. For eg, Nepal being so similar ideologically to India has been left alienated after India rubs it in their faces that they are here just because the contribution of India. Same with Bangladesh, who has shifted its allegiance with China. We Indians don’t miss an opportunity to say that Bangladesh is a country just because India helped in 1971.
As said by a legend, never mention the good deeds and the world will be yours. Indians need to realise that our pride will be the doom of us.
