This is really cool to see. I love how much Benjamin's animatics are so close to the finished scenes in most cases. Some of these rough sketches would make nice prints too - except I think he has Dan playing a mandolin in them haha.
This is so freaking cool. Thank you for sharing this with us. I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again: Trio fans miss you greatly, but I hope you’re happy and healthy, and it’s a treat to see and hear things like this. ❤💀
You said you went into Crimson expecting the final product/mix to have more space and be darker and more atmospheric... Have you considered remixing a song or two to be more in line with your original vision?
@el.sant0 That's a great question. I've done a few mixes of alternate takes and isolated drum tracks, but not with the original album mix in mind. I'm not half the engineer Jerry was, so there's no use trying to compare mixes. Here's an alternate version of Don't Say You Won't that I mixed in 2016 or so: bit.ly/royalbluealt
@@DerekGrantMusic well my thought isn't really to make a mix comparable to Finn's, nor am I saying Finn did a bad mix. I think it'd be cool for you to do a rough go at trying to capture the feel you originally thought you were going for with Crimson. I'm paraphrasing, but you mentioned before that you went into Crimson, doing a lot of your drum layering and etc, expecting a different album than the more straight forward rock album Crimson became. It'd be super cool to hear an idea of what that is; what you pictured Crimson sounding like in your head at the time. I personally believe there's so much opportunity for those songs to breathe and brood if given a new pass.
Hi Derek. Do you play Vidoe games at all? Resident Evil: Village has an opening cut scene that has the same paper/animations as the MM video. Was the first thing i thought of when i first played the game

The scene of you drilling your own head in and it spinning around will always, ALWAS crack me up

@telenahayden There's a link to the storyboards in the video description if you haven't already seen it.
