This Pride month, we bring to you a special performance by Gurleen Arora, aka Melancholia, that they performed at our very first Spoken Salon in G5A Warehouse, Mumbai.
This performance deftly mixes elements of music, poetry, & theatre. The spoken word part of the piece begins with a haunting repetition -- "Man, Woman, Woman, Man" -- and from there, Gurleen launches into an examination of gender identity and gender roles.
"Let my pen write, let my pen sing."
This performance is not a story, or a poem. It is an unpackaging of lies and truth and identity and history. Of what is real and what is not. Of what makes us, us. And of what we can all be.
