Some great titles and some i need to read. Let Us Descend was a favorite of last year for me and would have been my pick, though I have only read 2 of the 5. Adding several of these to my tbr! I felt similarly to you about Family Lore. Congrats to Acevedo!

I read and LOVED "The House of Eve" ! It is one of my favorites and another by the same author, "The Yellow Wife". Both books are excellent. Have you read, The Love Songs of W.E.B. DuBois by Honoree' Jeffers? It is a long book and equally long audiobook but it is EXCELLENT and one of my top five favorite books. The story remains with me today much like "The House of Eve".

I did read Love Songs prior to starting my Booktube channel and loved it as well! A friend of mine gifted me Yellow Wife and I cannot wait to dive in!

I read all of them except for House of Eve. My pick would be Let Us Descend. Sad to say the Heaven and Earth Grocery Store was my least favorite of the bunch. I struggled to finish it. I'm surprised that Family Lore won, but I liked it. I haven’t read any of her YA books, though. I was kinda underwhelmed with this list.

Yes, this list was underwhelming whenever you think of all the other books that could have been nominated. I hope to follow this award next year and see if it improves.
