I'm two and a half minutes in and just find it funny how he's saying gentle, delicately, carefully, cautiously, while the person is like, going to town on that picture.
Yes, it seem very rough. But I guess some “artisan restorers” are paid by the hour and have to get a certain number of pieces of artwork restored per week.
Not heavy handed at all. You don’t what you are saying. The materials she is using are gentle enough and needed to remove dirt. I was an art conservator.
@@miranduriyes, but the average layperson doesn't know this. When we think of "carefully, cautiously, delicately", we think of using the lightest touch, barely touching the surface. Watching the conservator use what appears to be a strong hand seems counterintuitive
I'm glad to see a restorer from what I call the wet group a lot of restorers on RUclips tend to be from the dry group who try to avoid as much of the H2O as possible. I'm a wet group restorer and I get a lot of flak from people who only heard the myth that water should be avoided. I once commented on how I removed water damage stains by dunking the sheet for a short duration in 75c hot water well, it works! and it does not damage the paper as long as you slow dry it under many sheets of towels for days I have been doing this for 30 years, yet I got an inbox full of verbal abuse.😪 I'm of the opinion more water more better!
would you comment on the effects of chlorine in tap water for this? I have several of my own works I would like to repair after decades in storage and I know bleach damages cellulose. also: is oxalic acid a useful tool on paper? I use it on wooden pieces but never dared on paper
I love the care and skill that is needed🌺🌷💐 beautifully done👍 Reminds me of the painting that was restored by an amateur and totally ruined. I forget who and when , but it was in the news at the time.
Sigo con interés los trabajos de restauración de este tipo. Es un auténtico placer verte trabajar y te agradezco el compartir de tus técnicas y conocimientos. Muchas gracias.
Watching this video literally brought me to tears. It's truly amazing that something so torn and discarded can be restored to such beauty. It reminds me of the same way in which God restores us.
Amazing, it would be fantastic to see a copper, silver or better yet a golden age comic get restored, perhaps a Marvel or DC comic. Also it would be good if you can list the equipment with links to say amazon so people can explore learning this craft. Wonderful video.
I really wish you highlighted the name of the person who did this amazing restoration. They have put a part of themselves into this artwork while leaving almost no visible trace. Give credit where credit is due.
As an Art collector and researcher for many years, it's amazing what restorers can do these days. But when should one restore ? How much and to what degree should art be restored ? And the big question is how to choose the right restorer. Talk to the Experts first before what you may think is inevitable restoring.
Our family names weren't Barry. I think my grandma signed the contract with my Australian side in project 36. That is to greatly benefit Canadian students that don't speak French as a first language or what, it's not clear.
I'm pretty sure they still want sound. The sounds of restoration and the individual's hard work are incredibly soothing, but the narration and music often detracts from and drowns that out.
I am far more interested in the conservation of works on paper rather than oil paintings on canvas as the bulk of my personal collection consists of prints. At the same time, I wonder about the cost. Experienced professionals are not cheap, and while one or two pieces in my collection could benefit, the modest increase in resale value does not remotely justify the cost of proper conservation.
The cleaning and rinse are not done with tap water. Tap water contains chlorine as well as several other chemicals that are detrimental to restoration. Deionized, distilled water is used.
I am curious how you can make prints of this artwork. Have you contacted the original artist or family members or entity that owns the copyright to this work? Just because you bought even the original plates, you do not legally have the right to sell the image. You can buy the rights, however. I have worked to get the rights to remake cast sculptures and it is a difficult process to find the original own and buy the rights.
@@grahamfreeman2252 Exactly the opposite. Sorry, I should have put the words Amazing Restoration before the initial post. That was so much work, honestly.. I went to the website and saw it was listed for only 1000 dollars... that is a steal. And... and to be very clear... I am not being sarcastic... the time that went into this, the skill.... legit, that should be so much more than 1000 dollars.
You really have never heared of dumpster diving before? You’re on youtube and today you learned that people take stuff other people have thrown away and make them (if needed) usable again?! Well, congrats and welcome to the world.

i am always so impressed by the patience, talent, and knowledge of these restore professionals.
Beautiful restoration. So glad there are people like you able to save pieces of art that could easily have been junked.
How much does it charge for the restoration?
A labor of love....Congratulations for breathing new life into a discarded work of Art...❤
hopefully profitable for all as well
Paper, high quality papers -- amazing material, more durable than might be expected. 👍 Fine video.
Miraculous, beautiful - speechless - i actually applauded the artist at the completion.
Restoring paper paintings and such is a kind of magic
always a treat when this channel upload restoration videos ♥
I love this channel so much. Everytime there is a new video I don't want it to end.

Now I can’t unsee the cautious and delicate way it is cleaned.
This was amazing to watch! Thank you for taking us on this journey.
Amazing! What a skilled and tender restoration!
Amazing restoration. Thank you very much.
Absolutely beautifully restored👌🥰🙏

@@HomeFromFarAway chlorine in tap water is an american thing i live in the netherlands our water comes straight from the dunes so no chlorine.
@TinovanderZwan-t5f ah. thanks. I am in South Africa, not America so each area has a different level of chlorine and minerals
Beautifully restored.
Beautiful job.
Excellent restoration!
Absolutely magnificent work.
I really enjoy the restorations, it's a patience and knowledge havy job, needs a lot of skill to match the paper and colors to the original like this!
You did a fantastic job . It must've taken you a long time to learn and hone the skills it took to restore this picture. God bless people like you❤

Fantastic work! What a fascinating process.
Also am I the only one who really wants to stick my hand in that wheat-based adhesive? Lol
I would love this job
Amazing!!!!
Impresionante trabajo.
Well that was well worth the time, money... and viewing.
Fantastic
With much talent and experience the conservator restores a damaged work of art.
Very interesting thank you
are there any galleries or museums that specifically show restored art? that would be pretty cool

Wow…👏👏👏
I like how he says they are delicately removing dirt while the conservator is erasing like a 4th grader who just drank coke and mountain dew
I'd do anything for a version that isn't narrated 😭😭
There’s so much useful information given, that I can’t agree on it in this case. Besides you can switch off the sound if it is bothering you.

@carmenm.4091 i guess you're right, i just absolutely love the natural sounds of unintentional asmr and its so perfect.
It’s great but usually conservationists use gloves-and no stiff brushing. 😮
ìncredible skills.
wow
I would think you would wear gloves to prevent body oils from soiling the print.
I have super dry skin, I actually struggle to grip things. it's unusual but not everyone has to worry about touching directly
I’m surprised they’re not using distilled water regular tapwater

The artist died more than 100 years ago. The original work is in the public domain.
Clever, but the image itself is pretty unremarkable
I sure do hope this is the world's most expensive print.
Do you mean that you don't think it was worth the effort to restore the print?

I guess the real question is, "why are you rummaging through the trash to find art work?"

Does it really mater if it was found in the trash or what the person was doing rummaging through trash, it was found all that matters really.
But look what might have been lost!
Someone's trash is someone else treasure

Tell your (I hope AI) narrator how to pronounce conservator.
Tap water ?? narrator doesn't have a clue since tap water has chemicals.
Please can you put music in these videos so I don’t gotta listen to your heavy breathing
Is this AI?!....The voice over is awful
Nope not AI. Would think the same tbh
