I just finally ordered my copy of Civilization Phase 3. I’m a HUGE fan of the first two volume albums from 67/68, but I must admit I’m very unfamiliar with the synclavier, so this will be my first impression of his synclavier work but I’m excited and keeping an open mind
After the Zappa Family Trust licensed everything to Ryko (for a good chunk of money) they didn't want to compete with sales, so they held off on any new releases. They may even have had an agreement. Waka/Jawaka from Quadiophilliac also has a few extra bars of music during Don Preston's Minimoog solo. That Guitar solo you mention has some bizarre Ring Modulation effect on it. Zappa never stopped experimenting.
I haven't listened to Civilization Phase III since I bought it :) Some of these I didn't even knew existed. Of course, I do have the quad/surround stuff, though :)
DVD Audio discs failed in the market place. There was just too much of a format war going on at the time. What was going to be the next consumer digital music format? DVD A, SACD or MP3? Well the 12" 33&1/3 rpm vinyl LP came back.
That tape you have playing in the background has some issues. Can't you hear that squealing? Either the tape has lost its lubrication or you've got some sticky tape syndrome but something is going on.

I love your Zappa vids Bill. Not even the biggest Zappa fan but that could definitely change! Thanks!
No one delivers Frank like you do Bill. Fantastic job. That Halloween DVD Audi Disc looks really cool. I need to check that out~

I LOVE that Halloween disc, for the long version of “Ancient Armaments” - what a beautiful instrumental! Had no idea it was so valuable! Sweetness!
I'm a quad addict. Discovered the 2 DVD Audio's you mention here for the first time... already on eBay looking. Thanks!
Another fine job , Bill.
You'll find my name on Zappa/OZ.
thank you Bill! greatings from Italy.
Hey Bill. Just got Orchestral Favorites 40th on vinyl. Sounds pretty good.
Wow. What a Zappa collection and only part one. Saw him only once and he was great. Either 1973 or 74 Winterland.
Thanks, Mazzy! ☮️❤️🎧
Glad I have both DVDs. Worth a chunk of cash now.
Would love a Civ Phase III vinyl release
That would make a cool package.
I found the Halloween DVD Audio very disappointing, except for "Zeets"

That squeaking was driving me insane.

It's an old tape that belongs to a client, I was just running it through the machine and wasn't expecting the squealing. Sorry if it bothered you.
Halloween dvd audio is good for you. Zappa fan..quaudiophilac is terrible for you rare versions DTS
