Back in those days, I was a technician with CN Telecommunications, which was owned by CN Rail. This change cost me my rail pass, which I had used to travel across the country, from St. John's NFLD to Vancouver Island. I also road on the Turbo once, coming back from a course in Montreal. I also had a work pass back then, which got me on anything that moved over CN tracks.
Of note the VIA logo and colors were introduced by CN in the spring of 1976. In 1976 CN re-branded it's passenger service VIA-CN. Some locos and passenger cars got the blue and yellow treatment but with a CN logo under the VIA logo. In mid 1977 this stopped and just VIA was put on the equipment. In early 1978 VIA became a separate crown corporation from CN called VIA Rail Canada and also took over CP's passenger services in 1978. Even when VIA became a separate company CN adopted the blue and yellow colors for most of it's business car minus the VIA logo.

That's incredible. That's one of the world's greatest rides. I've never heard of the turbo.
@@Silverhands Back in the 70s, when I lived near the Guildwood station, I could hear the Turbo and see it in the station.
That’s unfortunate.
I Love Glen Cole's old school news style. Throwback to an old way of speaking on camera
He is like a TV news reporter straight out of central casting
so cool...thank you so much for this and all uploads

Glen Cole it’s good to see you again :)
Awesome. Love these old videos.
Appreciate the upload. Would it be possible for you to upload the next CjtyPulse story? I believe the reporter mentioned the TurboTrain at the end.
I'm still looking for that one myself.

Good reporting. He calls it the , Point Claire shop.
Anyone know if there is a link to the turbo train story Mr. Cole talks about at the end of the report?
"Guys, relax, it could be worse. We could be _VIA_ "

😄Nah I'm kidding.
Wow.
Remember when we enjoyed and army of men?
all passenger trains are controlled by via... tell that to algoma central and the wpyr
And Ontario Northland and BC Rail.
@@haweater1555 BC Rail wasn't owned by CN at the time
Wow! When City-TV actually had factual journalistic integrity.
