    One nitpick: You referred to Square whilst implying that Square Enix is good at storytelling by showing footage of Life is Strange. Square Enix is a publisher with some in-house dev teams, Life is Strange was made by Dontnod Entertainment, and Hitman is made by IO Interactive, teams that had nothing to do with one another aside from both being signed on to having Square Enix as a publisher.
    Just a minor nitpick.

    • @Levyathyn

      That's not minor. Knowing of how much I owe themselves put into this game and serious, it's borderline insulting to consistently praise square for the positives of this game.

    Disabling opportunities and instinct is the very first thing I did.
    Always appalled to see how easy the game is when these things are enabled each time I see someone else playing it.

      +Emperor Belisarius Honestly, if you disable opportunities, at least the first time you're playing a level then it can end up being unnecessarily frustrating and tedious especially considering the game was designed for tracking opportunities.
      Its one of my gripes about the game really.

    My favorite tutorial section of all time is in Neverwinter Nights 2, also one of my favorite RPGs (so much so that when I get to customize my protagonist, she invariably gets the name Neeshka). The tutorial itself is perfectly functional in that it introduces the world and teaches the mechanics adequately, using a town fair as an excuse to teach movement, dialog, inventory, and combat basics. What makes it my favorite tutorial, however, is that it is skippable in its entirety. On subsequent playthroughs, if you feel like it, you can choose "skip " from the start menu, and go straight to chapter one, complete with all the gold, exp, and gear you would have earned otherwise.

    okay so i want to tell people about the first time me and my sister played HITMAN and you might find this funny.
    so in the tutorial level the first thing i noticed was the fire alarm. well my sister had the controls and i told her to go get a fire extinguisher and pull the alarm cause of that motivational duck meme that said "no ones gonna stop a guy running with a fire extinguisher" and it worked! she pulled the alarm, got a bunch of guns trained on her and then grabbed the fire extinguisher and no one cared. she was even able to get right next to the target without any disguise but the moment she dropped the fire extinguisher (which was when she was right next to the guy + all his guards) she was found out and taken out XD

    Playing through all the levels for the first time i felt kinda disappointing that i was already "done". But i quickly found out how much replayability this game has. Even the tutorial missions can be played many times before you get tired of them i think. It may just be me but I was personally more entertained in the tutorial levels than most absolution levels. Even now where i have played Paris at least 20 times I come back again and again and I can't say that for any other game.

  • @HenkJanBakker
    @HenkJanBakker 8 лет назад

    There is a reason why they say 20 years earlier. As you say yourself; most people played previous games. This is the next instalment of a game that does not state specific dates. And thus the grammar makes sense as it isn't 20 years ago at all. It indeed is 20 years earlier.
    It immediately brings you back in. As you said, good story telling.

    I assumed that the IAA payed actors a whole lot of money to not ask questions and just mingle, them being unknowing that it is to train assassins. The IAA basically sacrificing actors as targets for their trainees, while in canon 47 or whoever each only gets one go at this in being evaluated.

    I've never been a fan of Hitman, but when Absolution came out it caught my eye. When I played it, I was kind of disappointed, but this video (and the fact that the first episode of HITMAN is only 15 bucks) convinced me to at least try it out. If I don't like it, I only spent 15 bucks. If I end up liking it, I'll buy the other episodes.

    I personally love Hitman: Blood Money. I mean, just the scenarios alone make me want to play it again. I remember my first playthrough, playing the Curtains Down level, trying meticulously to get near the actors and take them down. I tried to do everything silently, but in the end it just ended up in a shootout. And then Flatline. Omg. The calming atmosphere just immedietely calmed me down after that intense shootout and I promised myself that I would do the mission silently, for real this time. I will never forget how I carefully planned out my moves and learned the targets patterns. In the end, theres truely nothing more satisfying than a job well done. I could go on and on about this game. I admit, its controls and ai can sometimes get finicky and every game has its flaws, but to anyone considering having a look into the older hitman games, I would without a doubt recommend it, just for the atmosphere, strategy and themes alone.

    I didn't like that the challenge system allowed you to retain challenges even when failing or reloading the mission, so you could theoretically play the mission once and get all the challenges just by spamming game saves, which turns it into a mindless, unenjoyable checklist. (i spent hours doing that before realizing I wasn't having fun) I think a better way to do it would be require level success to retain obtained challenges which would require way more playthroughs and probably not a great thing for completionists but does less to destroy the immersion because they made it super arcadey.

    4:14 I'm pretty sure both the main level designer and the main story writer is from IO-Interactive. I'm not that deep into how a game is made so I might be mistaken as to where the praise should go but it seems people always talk about Square Enix even though it appears that the most important stuff in the game is still done by IO.
    Just seems a bit unfair to praise Square for the level design and story when it's guys from IO that is the main writers and level designers.

      Like what?

    • @ChaosZero.
      @ChaosZero. 5 лет назад

      @@RetardedDreams If a shadow organization that officially doesn't exist hire that many people as "actors" and send them to a repurposed ICBM base forgotten even by their previous owners (the Russians?), it's hard to believe that they would let them all walk away from there, even if they made them sign an NDA. Which means that those people are essentially going to be killed and dumped off a cliff to make sure that there are no leaks on where one of their bases is located and possibly either how to get there or just explain what they do in an abandoned ICBM installation. Absolution made it canon that they have dedicated sub-divisions of operatives with military grade hardware that make sure there are no witnesses and survivors when/if there is a severe risk of the entire ICA being exposed.
      The reason why 47 is successful in his job is because the ICA operates on a need-to-know basis. Only him, his handler (Diana) and a very selected group of few individuals know about his operations at any given time. The rest of the ICA, be it other agents, other handlers and/or other staff in general, doesn't need to know about what the other groups are doing and viceversa.
      The original games (Codename:47, Silent Assassin, Contracts and Blood Money) are an example of this, as the joke character "Agent Smith" is often found in each game, but 47 never truly knows (or asks) why another ICA Agent is on site and viceversa, Smith doesn't know why 47 is there or why. Of course, logically, he had a similar mission and failed (got captured), but Diana doesn't know about it before hand because she didn't need to know what the agent of another handler was doing in the same area.
      Absolution is again another example, but this time for the opposite reason. Most of the plot has many holes in its logic, but it makes it clear that 47 can sometime follow the clues of where to go and what to do because Travis takes an entire army around the US to try and capture him at first, and then, failing to do that, tries to chase after Diana and her totally-not-empty coffin in the cemetery at the end of the game. Bear in mind that Diana asks 47 to kill Travis, but doesn't tell him where to find him. But as that many people were involved in such a complex operation, all 47 had to do, was to follow a group of heavily armed people around the country.

    • @asakayosapro
      @asakayosapro 5 лет назад

      They are not hired actors - they are ICA training staff from all over the place
      the fact that they are referred to as 'training operatives' should have been self-explanatory.

      I think I'm late, but if I'm not, then play them in order. I don't actually find the first game that challenging. I actually find Silent Assassin hardest, because of the fucking Japan levels.

      Nah. Play Hitman 2: Silent Assassin first. You'll be a bit confused about the story at first, but fuck it. The gameplay is the start for the series as a whole

      It wasn't great but it was an enjoyable game that had too many scripted sequences and too many forced pointless levels.

      +Rin in a bin We've had 1/6th of the game. So far it's great. Also stop riding the BM bandwagon and play C47, SA, Contracts. SA and Contracts are both superior to BM.

    The game's objectively worse in design than Blood Money and arguably Contracts. Off the top of my head: the ranks are completely removed, so are all of the difficulties, you can save however many times you want, the money and upgrade systems are gone, so are post-mission newspapers, nearly every event has to be triggered by the player's close proximity, stealth is staggeringly overpowered, and as icing on the cake - for some reason the minimap is animated while the actual full screen map stays static.
    It's not a bad game by any means, especially when compared to Absolution, but I feel like the past Hitman product was so bad it clouded everyone's judgement a bit. Not to mention the whole episodic mess and gearing the overall design towards the now popular "here's a slice of the full game, play it eight hundred times and unlock everything there's to see" formula that Ground Zeroes had started.

      +Seed I agree with you. This hitman is still somewhere in the middle of Bloodmoney and Absolution. Missing the intricate loadout customization through assets, big items in level can be magically concealed in an infinite inventory, yeah the unlimited saving is an easymode casual player crutch too. Some events are half scripted to when the character walks by or initiates them unlike the wedding in bloodmoney, in which if you stand around too long you miss opportunities. I also personally miss the briefcases and sniper case that you were responsible for not losing, and rail pushes don't count as accident kills.

    What's wrong with Absolution?

    • @VNReader
      @VNReader 7 лет назад +1

      Absolution was not a Hitman game. It played completely differently and felt like a Splinter Cell with small, linear levels. It lead to many classic Hitman fans hating it.

      VN Reader Classic began with the first Hitman right? When did it end' with Blood Money?

    • @VNReader
      @VNReader 7 лет назад

      Sniper 10908 The first game is weird since most of its content was remade for Contracts and the stuff that wasn't didn't deserve a remake for the most part. Plus the game wasn't the great anyway. It's arguable if you consider it classic Hitman for that reason. It's also arguable if you consider the newest entry classic since it both plays and feels like an old game (mainly Blood Money) while also being noticeably very different since it's by a different company and the first few missions do feel a little James Bond-esque.
      When I think of the series and the games I like playing it is Silent Assassin, Contracts, Blood Money and 2016. But I know a lot of other fans would disagree with me placing the newest game there.

    • @Sniper-ct1cw
      @Sniper-ct1cw 7 лет назад

      VN Reader Personally, I think Absolution is a good Hitman game. Sure, it's different than say Blood Money or the other installments. Granted I haven't played HITMAN 2016, but it looks like one of the classics, only it's not for the PS2 like Blood Money is.
