Randy was a vital member of the group. He wasn’t an official member of the original Jackson 5. After they blew up on Motown Joe began grooming Randy and Randy sort of shadowed the group but he was still too young to be an official member. Finally the brothers signed over to Epic records in 75-76, Motown owned the rights to the group name so they just became known simply as The Jacksons and Jermaine stayed behind at Motown and pursued a mediocre solo career. Randy was now 15 and he filled in that 5th spot as an official member. If you asked me Randy was waayyy more affective in the group than Jermaine. He played multiple instruments, sang, danced, wrote, and produced some of their biggest hits as The Jacksons and from 1975 to about 1983 it was just Jackie, Tito, Michael, Marlon, and Randy. Jermaine came back when Michael’s Thriller album was in the stratosphere and all 6 brothers cut an album and toured during Michael’s heyday. So if you ask me they should have all been inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as The Jacksons. I think Randy very much deserved to be inducted as the rest of them. He was arguably one of the most talented Jacksons in the family. He was just hardheaded as hell.
Could you please list which songs Randy Jackson wrote?. Also, Jermaine Jackson had very strong vocals as a young man. He should've branched out into other mediums. Rebey Jackson is another missed opportunity. Marriage and motherhood took priority over what I saw as a major solo career.

I don't doubt Randy's talent. Just stating the facts. But Jermaine & Micheal were the voices of the Jackson 5 and Jermaine probably thought he was set for a successful solo career when he married Hazel Gordy. I don’t think it’s true Jermaine didn’t like Randy because he replaced him. Randy was already performing with the group before Jermaine left He became an official member after Jermaine left. Jermaine had more of an issue with MJ because Jermaine always shared many lead vocal parts with MJ while in the J5. Jermaine even had successful solo projects “Daddy’s Home”, “I Found that Girl”, “I am Love”. Jermaine was actually originally the lead singer of the group until they discovered how talented MJ was. I think Jermaine always felt that he was living in MJ’s shadow but Motown gave him an opportunity to shine on his own as a solo artist. Years later when MJ was at the peak of his solo career Jermaine did a diss song about MJ “Word to the Badd”They discussed him leaving on their reality show after MJ passed.

If he was in any position to do so he could have tired to fight for custody of those children. However, Randy had already to court for assaulting his wife and daughter so the courts probably wouldn't have looked favorably on him.

All of this "shady" drama overshadowed the fact that Jermaine is a great bass guitar player and singer. I never met him personally but just based on his actions, he has always seemed to have a "chip on his shoulder" when he left his brothers behind and stayed with Motown. The song he wrote about Michael, "Word to the Badd", getting involved with his brother's ex-wife. And just recently, he was touring with his other 3 brothers and seems like he's not with them anymore.

Randy was a vital member of the group. He wasn’t an official member of the original Jackson 5. After they blew up on Motown Joe began grooming Randy and Randy sort of shadowed the group but he was still too young to be an official member. Finally the brothers signed over to Epic records in 75-76, Motown owned the rights to the group name so they just became known simply as The Jacksons and Jermaine stayed behind at Motown and pursued a mediocre solo career. Randy was now 15 and he filled in that 5th spot as an official member. If you asked me Randy was waayyy more affective in the group than Jermaine. He played multiple instruments, sang, danced, wrote, and produced some of their biggest hits as The Jacksons and from 1975 to about 1983 it was just Jackie, Tito, Michael, Marlon, and Randy. Jermaine came back when Michael’s Thriller album was in the stratosphere and all 6 brothers cut an album and toured during Michael’s heyday. So if you ask me they should have all been inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as The Jacksons. I think Randy very much deserved to be inducted as the rest of them. He was arguably one of the most talented Jacksons in the family. He was just hardheaded as hell.

I don’t think it’s true Jermaine didn’t like Randy because he replaced him. Randy was already performing with the group before Jermaine left He became an official member after Jermaine left. Jermaine had more of an issue with MJ because Jermaine always shared many lead vocal parts with MJ while in the J5. Jermaine even had successful solo projects “Daddy’s Home”, “I Found that Girl”, “I am Love”. Jermaine was actually originally the lead singer of the group until they discovered how talented MJ was. I think Jermaine always felt that he was living in MJ’s shadow but Motown gave him an opportunity to shine on his own as a solo artist. Years later when MJ was at the peak of his solo career Jermaine did a diss song about MJ “Word to the Badd”They discussed him leaving on their reality show after MJ passed.

I’m sorry but I don’t believe that “no matter what” a man is supposed to just finance and support fuckery just because those are his “his kids” ….this situation was scandalous beyond words and I would have been just as salty or even more so.🤨 I would never speak to my Brother again.
If he was in any position to do so he could have tired to fight for custody of those children. However, Randy had already to court for assaulting his wife and daughter so the courts probably wouldn't have looked favorably on him.

I agree, his behavior was awful, but he was in the group when they were putting out the hits.
All of this "shady" drama overshadowed the fact that Jermaine is a great bass guitar player and singer. I never met him personally but just based on his actions, he has always seemed to have a "chip on his shoulder" when he left his brothers behind and stayed with Motown. The song he wrote about Michael, "Word to the Badd", getting involved with his brother's ex-wife. And just recently, he was touring with his other 3 brothers and seems like he's not with them anymore.

I’ve heard about Jermaine marrying and having children with his Brothers kids Mother never knew the details. The story I remember most is when Janet Jackson and her first husband DeBarge were at the Jackson home, after they eloped, in bed getting ready for round 2 Michael comes in the room, jumps in the bed with them and starts talking about how lonely he is. Before Jackson released "Off The Wall" there were many stories of how dysfunctional the Jacksons are. To protect Michael's "purely wholesome and innocent image" many of these stories were taken off line as quickly as they were put online.
I will not deny that I am a Jackson 5 fan and this includes Michael Jackson, but they were all messed up and were ashamed of their blackness.
