Hey Good video Few thhings mate. 1. At the very beginning you have to put where you are on the first screen ----, ina your case YPAD and accept, that tells UNS you start poin. That will safe you doing DTO when you put flight plan in., and will show you plan on MFD 2. W&B put your Basic Weight, Pax numbers, Cargo, and ZFW will be calculated automatically. Then put Ramp Fuel in, and that will give you actual Gross Weight. 3. Putting all fuel figures, altrn hold, extra, will give you total reserve 4. SID/STAR after chosing it you can click ->FPL 5R button, and that will out it in to flight plan. 5. VNAV you can do in few ways, of course you can change target altitude. 6. PERF page will also give you Gross Landing Weight to check what Vref to take. I use UNS in real life on Saab340 :) Take care
Nice tutorial Dirka, I recently got the dash and looked at the FMC and thought f@&k it start it up and fly, but this helped me set it up properly and get flying semi-professionally, thanks TuckerTV
Dirka Mate, I appreciate the video. Just bought the Q400 and read some of the documentation and still was a bit lost with how it worked. Thanks for this tutorial on the FMC, very helpful. ~mcospotting
I'm having some trouble with this. I followed everything exactly and I don't get any altitudes on the right side of the fmc screen when looking at my flight plan. I also get a beeping noise when throttle is at full power and I'm on the runway taking off
Super cool! Where'd you learn the Universal? I'm typed in the DHC-8, and learning the FMS was one of the more tricky things about learning how to fly the Mighty Q.
Hello. Nice Video. I knew all of that before, because I use the Q400 since a long time and its a good one! But do you know how to enter GPS NAV coordinates? N69W137 does not work and I try a lot of other formats but none of them was working. Mayby you have an idea? Thx.
You should look around youtube for this information. I will answer a few questions to get you started. Use flightaware and find the airport of departure. Then find a flight that has completed a flight to the destination you'd like. There, you will find a decoded flightplan. Use this info for fmc input. Good luck and don't bother people with questions that you could easily find on your own.
You use take off fuel as total fuel, which isn't really accurate. You can also change the fuel setting from the Menu of the FMC from being tank by tank to global.
good video but you keep calling the screens with the wrong names. The screens go like this, starting from Captain PFD, MFD, ED , MFD, PFD, The 3 center ones are called EFIS. P.S Q400 mechanic
+Brenden “durka” Quinn Nope can't find anything about it, I can use the RCL frequency and pre-load that with the next frequency, but I cannot find out how to use the list with presets 1-8
FMGS, Flight Management Guidance System, often shortened to FMS; this is all the devices in the plane that works together for navigation and flight guidance; the user interfaces, the flight management computer, the autopilot, the auto-throttle, the inertial reference systems (gyros), the GNS (global navigation system) FMGC, Flight Management Guidance Computer, often shortened to just FMC; one of the components of a flight management system, the brain that puts it all together. MCDU, Multi-function Control Display Unit; a physical device that works as a user interface in the FMS. So to be picky, it's a MCDU that allows you to work with the FMC that's a part of the FMS. =)
Like if I want to add a five mile fix on a visual approach with another fix 3 miles off the 090 rad from that fix, for a base. Basically want to know how to build waypoints?

The Q is a challenging and rewarding aircraft..Thank you for the great video.
Fred Daugherty Fred you very welcome. It is indeed. I still learn and pick up new things every time I fly it.

TuckerTV glad you enjoyed. Many thanks. New Q400 video soon.

Glad you enjoyed thanks.
Dirka Mate,
I appreciate the video. Just bought the Q400 and read some of the documentation and still was a bit lost with how it worked. Thanks for this tutorial on the FMC, very helpful.

Excellent tutorial! Help me a lot. Thank you!
I'm having some trouble with this. I followed everything exactly and I don't get any altitudes on the right side of the fmc screen when looking at my flight plan. I also get a beeping noise when throttle is at full power and I'm on the runway taking off
what site do you use to find your flight plan?
Hey man, really good tutorial ! I just wanna know how you can confirm weather your FMS (Fuel page) is in pounds or KG ? Thanks !
Super cool! Where'd you learn the Universal? I'm typed in the DHC-8, and learning the FMS was one of the more tricky things about learning how to fly the Mighty Q.

Hello Brenden, are you able to enter lateral offset into the UNS1?
Thank you very useful as i am starting on this airplane but i have a wuestion if you know how to set up in case to divert to an alternate airport....
Mind explaining where you can find your ZFW and Fuel information from next time? Having a difficult time locating it in Sim brief.
In simbrief scroll down a bit yu should see a section with Pax, cargo, payload, trip fuel, block fuel, zfw etc..
@@durkadirka when I enter the ZFW it's in the red, the flight is about an hour long so that can't be right.
Yes you doing something wrong.. Juat watch the video again slowly and follow my instructions
I don't have any speed/altitude info after my fmc setup, what am I doing wrong?
Its doesn't give you that so you fine...
@@durkadirka it's you have to manually put them in?
No you will manage your height and speed yourself..
Hi Brenden ,
did you tweak your CFG for Fsx? and Nvide inspector?
do you have a tutorial how to tweak fsx good and nvidea inspector?
Hello , yes I do. I am running DX10 now which I will be doing a video.
but here is my dx9 vid
ruclips.net/video/dNlfnll_oaY/видео.html
@Dehan Cilleirs you can change it in the control panel

+ 1 subcriber and like
happy landing Captain ! 😉
AeroWilly 974 many thanks
Nothing happens when i press enter after selecting the sid for the departure?
what are airways, how do you find them, and why are they useful????
You use take off fuel as total fuel, which isn't really accurate. You can also change the fuel setting from the Menu of the FMC from being tank by tank to global.

Good job,,,,,,,
dear Sir ,how do i get Q400 on FSX ?? please help me
How do you set cockpit cold and dark?
Due to size of EMF screen there hardly any info that can be read, can you redo this video with magnified EMF
Emf screen? Explain more please
anyone know how to use the stored frequencies list in com/nav panel in FMS?
Anything in the manual?
+Brenden “durka” Quinn Nope can't find anything about it, I can use the RCL frequency and pre-load that with the next frequency, but I cannot find out how to use the list with presets 1-8
where did you download your FMC?
Comes with the plane?
Hey Durka how can i save Co-Route ?
SuppenHuhn I don't think you can mate.. Might have to refer to manual or forums for that one. Sorry.
Can you give a tutorial on the other systems as well please?
which ones?
Durka Gaming like the ARCDU, and A/P in sync with the buttons on the glareshield?
Fai Sal sure, doing a another video on the Q400 soon. Will add that
Thank you for the consideration.
What’s with moving the FMC display on screen? Bloody annoying.,
Got a nervous annoying habit of moving the CDU around with the cursor!
walter riely you or me?
i cant click the fmc, help
+Robert Sun try zoom in closer
I thought it is an FMS not an FMC.
Joneseyce. it is indeed. fmc is what most people know

The way you said Wagga Wagga... cringe
AussieMozzie I'm not Australian so I'm sure there is a right way to say it.
Haha it's all good it's spelt Wagga Wagga but it's said Wogga Wogga
It's my south African accent maybe. Like you guys we talk funny.
How do you add pilot waypoints?
Waypoints as part as your route? You have to add them manually. So make sure you have your route to hand.
Like if I want to add a five mile fix on a visual approach with another fix 3 miles off the 090 rad from that fix, for a base. Basically want to know how to build waypoints?
Just manually add them under fpl. Make sure you have the white flashing box
