I remember her way back in the day when she first started, Cuggie had a tiger by the tail then! She is amazing! She is the best Flamenco guitar player ever! This lady can make the guitar dance! I never get tired of hearing her play, plus she is hilarious! Charo, you rock it like no other!

Everyone’s saying she should be taken more seriously; I think people do take her seriously, and I think she did exactly what she wanted to do, conveyed exactly the image she cultivated, through using her character (herself) and her accent to their fullest potential. I’m sure even she would say yes it’s self-deprecation at its finest. She’s a lot like Dolly Parton mixed with Shakira I think, in that sense. Dolly told Barbara Walters that the real joke is on the people taking HER too seriously. People say these creative women are silly on the one hand, but on the other, they’re insanely talented on multiple instruments and dancing, singing, comedy, multiple languages, etc.
My one question though, is why didn’t Charo play her guitar earlier on in the show? Like, I know that it’s Las Vegas and people maybe expect a “show” with all the flair & ensemble... I still think she could’ve played the guitar several more times in the show, and not waited for 30 minutes to elapse before playing it. That’s a bit repetitive too, with the musical numbers for an entire half hour. She could’ve come out at the beginning with the same showy musical number, but then the second song could’ve been the guitar. Plus a few more guitar solos throughout would’ve been even better.

Seeing her do songs that were covered by Madonna and Estefan years later and thinking while they did justice to the songs they couldn't hold a candle to Charo's perfomance of them.
Charo covered Madonna and Gloria.. not the other way around. "La Isla Bonita" was released a year or 2 before this Charo show.

I'm 83 years old and I remember when she first became popular. I never cared for the, "cuhci cuchi", Charo because I felt it was an insult to her talent as a guitarist. I still fee the same today and think she has never received the coverage of her guitar artistry she deserves Viva la Guitara of Charo

I thought so at first, but now I think it's just heavily reliant on the background singers so she can sing where and when she wants and it doesn't sound that different. It's very hard to sing and dance as hard as she's dancing in this show.

She is so 80's, that mixture of really good bad acts, that although she has little talent, It's compelling to watch
groovydonkey she speaks 10 languages, plays about 10 musical instruments, classically trained in flamingo guitar. She sings fine, dances great, & this was in the 80’s. She is about 80 now, although still dancing, & playing.

I'm nearly 60, and she's the greatest talent in my lifetime. She is what the best of the best guitarists look up to. She began playing guitar at the age of 9 and trained under the famed Andrés Segovia.
Little Talent? She is a concert level guitarist. She can play both Classical and Flaminco guitar, and the fact that she can memorize all these pieces is just amazing. Groovy Donkey your name suits you very well.
