@@alanyoung4256 Yes - there is a slight problem with Alexa as different stations are provded by different providers. Not sure. I did not try it yet. Someone else in the comments changed the code so that he can use the dance script for multiple players. Maybe that helps you too.
I added a additional modulare way to used the scripts with media-player as an argument to the script. Ex: ``` alias: "Media: Play P4 Halland" sequence: - service: media_player.play_media data: media_content_id: media-source://radio_browser/6b28428f-b57b-4ace-a559-d483a26f57fa media_content_type: music enqueue: replace target: entity_id: "{{ media_player }}" mode: single icon: mdi:radio ``` Then using the shortcuts: ``` shortcuts: columns: 3 buttons: - type: script name: P4 Halland id: script.media_play_p4_halland data: media_player: media_player.vardagsrummet ``` This means that I can re-use the same script for all my media players, not sure if there is a better way to add same data payload for all mini-media-players shortcuts.
@@Sholofly added a new script: ``` alias: "Media: Play music media on device" sequence: - service: media_player.play_media data: media_content_id: "{{ media_source }}" media_content_type: music enqueue: replace target: entity_id: "{{ media_player }}" mode: single icon: mdi:multimedia ``` So now I can use shortcuts: ``` shortcuts: columns: 3 buttons: - type: script name: P4 Halland id: script.media_play_music_media_on_device data: media_player: media_player.vardagsrummet media_source: media-source://radio_browser/6b28428f-b57b-4ace-a559-d483a26f57fa ``` Think I will replace my video streaming automation with this type of card instead.

I haven't seen this message before. No idea really.
Thank you for the info
Is the way you found the radio stations the way you find other media sources such as Hulu, Netflix, or HBO max to name a few?
I do not think so.
@@SmartHomeJunkie awesome video as always! I would like to suggest that as a possible video in the future if possible. I haven't found great documentation on that.
Hey Ed, how can I listen the radio station on an network AVR (Yamaha RX-S600D)
I installed the yamaha integration from HACS and I also add the AVR to DLNA Digital Media Renderer. But I don`t know how I have to combine the the radio browser with the AVR in the script. I have the same problem with spotify. Could you or anybody of your comments help me?
Thx and best regards
Eniac
Hi Eniac,
I have no idea really. I do not own such a network AVR myself.
Hi, thanks for your work, it is a very cool tutorial. Can I add spotify playlists as well? In case yes, how? :) Thank you very much!
Yes you can! See the manual of the media player I will create a video about it too.
@@SmartHomeJunkie Thank you!
Hi Ed, is the tts function still working for you? In the media player i created with your code, the tts function is not working anymore. the field where to write the tts message is gone.. also when click send, i get the error: cannot call service ...
I use the tts function like this:
service: tts.google_translate_say
data:
entity_id: media_player.all_speakers
message: Hello
Wondeful information. Tried this with AudioCast m5 but get the message "Entity media_player.family_room does not support this service" any idea how to fix this? Great work on the tuturials!
Another great video - just making some changes to make it work with Alexa as I think it needs to call an Alexa routine rather than a script that invokes the media player.
Let me know if you succeeded.
I’m interested too as I was not able to make it run in Alexa devices
Yeah, struggling to get it working on my echo dot. Any progress?
@@alanyoung4256 Yes - there is a slight problem with Alexa as different stations are provded by different providers. This, in itself, is not too much of a problem but I then found the the "KINK-DNA" station is restricted to the Netherlands on Alexa (using Tunein as the gateway) in the Alexa routine) whereas there is no such geographical restriction with Google! devices.
@@videolan Hello, can you explain how to configure TuneIn rotina in HomeAssistant ? Regards :)
Hi Ed! I donated to your website and purchased the script. The only issue I have is that some stations require me to then click play as well, while others just play automatically. Any idea how to fix this so I don't have to click the station and then wait for it to buffer and also click the play button? Thanks!
No idea really.
Is there a way to make the music destination user selectable?
Not sure. I did not try it yet. Someone else in the comments changed the code so that he can use the dance script for multiple players. Maybe that helps you too.
Again a great video 👍
Ed, nice sweater 😂
Ok great i'm struggeling now with the size of the button background what size can this be ?
You can try 129x36. But, the size differs for each device.
I added a additional modulare way to used the scripts with media-player as an argument to the script.
Ex:
```
alias: "Media: Play P4 Halland"
sequence:
- service: media_player.play_media
data:
media_content_id: media-source://radio_browser/6b28428f-b57b-4ace-a559-d483a26f57fa
media_content_type: music
enqueue: replace
target:
entity_id: "{{ media_player }}"
mode: single
icon: mdi:radio
```
Then using the shortcuts:
```
shortcuts:
columns: 3
buttons:
- type: script
name: P4 Halland
id: script.media_play_p4_halland
data:
media_player: media_player.vardagsrummet
```
This means that I can re-use the same script for all my media players, not sure if there is a better way to add same data payload for all mini-media-players shortcuts.
That's a great addition. Thank you!
Isn't it possible to pass the media source too with parameters? That means that you can use one script for all channels and all players
@@Sholofly It should be possible.
@@Sholofly added a new script:
```
alias: "Media: Play music media on device"
sequence:
- service: media_player.play_media
data:
media_content_id: "{{ media_source }}"
media_content_type: music
enqueue: replace
target:
entity_id: "{{ media_player }}"
mode: single
icon: mdi:multimedia
```
So now I can use shortcuts:
```
shortcuts:
columns: 3
buttons:
- type: script
name: P4 Halland
id: script.media_play_music_media_on_device
data:
media_player: media_player.vardagsrummet
media_source: media-source://radio_browser/6b28428f-b57b-4ace-a559-d483a26f57fa
```
Think I will replace my video streaming automation with this type of card instead.
@@Sholofly I think so. You might use the above method and use the media source as a parameter too.
Thanks for this tutorial, got it running just fine. One question, is there any way to get a icon/custom pic within the defined radio stations?
Not at the moment as far as I know.
@@SmartHomeJunkie to bad, mdi icons work, tried custom images but no luck
Spoke to soon, in yout tutorial you showed how to change from name: to cover: /local/ etc...... THANKS!!!!!!
@@AVworkplace-ArtEZ They should work for the player icon. I tried it myself. Put them in the same www folder and call them like you call the background.
@@AVworkplace-ArtEZ Ah, I now see your reaction. You fixed it already! Great!
Thanks for this video. I have subscribed to your channel. I set up mini Media player card but for some reason cannot get buttons to appear on the card. Did not set up using .jpg file component you suggested. Just the default media receiver. I did add everything else in the code editor section under shortcuts. I am able to play the script but have to enable the mini media player, go into "Related" then select "Part of the following Script" then run the script. Would appreciate any help you can give me to get to see buttons.
That sounds like you missed some steps in the tutorial. You can also download the code and use that to see what the difference is.
@@SmartHomeJunkie Should the script sequence be: - service: media_player.play_media or Media player.select_source then data: media_content_id: media-source: “etc”. The way I have it set up as you suggested brings up a window with headings “info” “History” “Settings” “Related” & I have to select “Related” & run the script manually.
is there a way to display what station you are listening to at least?
I haven't found a way yet unfortunately. For the Spotify player it does work.
Can this be adapted for Pandora?
Hi, is it possible to show the logo of the radio station in the background?
Unfortunately not.
@@SmartHomeJunkie Thanks for your reply. Other question. Is it possible to play TUNEIN audio. I have noticed that if I start TUNEIN audio from an other device (sonos app) that the logo of the radio station will become visible in the HA mini player.
glad you listen to StuBru.....👍👍👍
One of my favorites! ❤️
Did the total installation but it can't find the script running on the latest firmware of ha. Copy paste your script.
It is still working here. 🤷🏼♂️ No idea why you don't see it.
@@SmartHomeJunkie the message is service script.media_play_538 not found
Hi, I managed to integrate you pic and also got two radio stations working on the mini media player. However, all the other stations/scripts I have added don't work. I also tried your KINK DNA to rule out it might be linked to some licensing issues. Anybody else made this strange experience ? I copy pasted the scripts which are working and only changed the name and the code from radio browser, so I can rule out a typing error.
You can download the code to see what the difference is.

Great Video thank you. Is there a way to setup the mini player on the dashboard with the ability to select the speaker on the dashboard? I'd like to make use of this but decide on the speaker/speaker group depending on my location.
Also I note several settings shown in your video like background for example are missing from the config - any ideas or have they been removed in a later version?

hi Ed does not work in Home Assistant 2024 on amazon speaker :(
I confirm that it doesn't work with Amazon's speakers :( Any advice?
After a few hours of fighting, I figured it out :)
Does it also work with Echos? I get error messages from my Echo Show
Not as it stands - See my answer above to Manos Ioannidis for suggestion of using Alexa routines triggered by the Home Assistant card.
I do not own an Echo yet, so I couldn't test that. Good point. I think I need to tell that in future videos.
@@SmartHomeJunkie I also get an error regarding text-to-speach. Too bad, this was amazing to use but I only have echos in the house.
Anyway, great video.
@@GaNuCas I think you need to use a different service call for Echos. I guess I'd have to buy one some day to test it myself.
