Boy oh boy . . . first off, definitely need more details about that project with Tine, if you can share them. If not . . . then I think you gotta kill your darlings. Use that piece that you showed off at the end and kitbash something. If you hoard your precious bits, then you'll never get to use them and see their full potential, right??
TERRAIN.
Paint the Orks you've made so far!
@@BillMakingStuff Will you do it with me? Pick a day, we'll call and do it over discord and make it a vid
More T-shirts!
On the nurgle diaries... My old ceramics teacher used to tell us, 'don't get attached, it's just dirt'. Art rarely goes the way we expect, non-artists don't necessarily get that.
That's so weird
I mean it's just dirt but the art you make out of it
You created it, with your heart, how come you don't get attached to something like that?
Edit: After watching the vid, yes I kinda get it now
"I don't trust creative people if they don't have unfinished things!" - Beautifully put.
Aaah! So much Miscast recently! Couldn't be happier!
Your little story at the beginning hit really close to home: being 14, not having a local scene, and binging Miniwargaming... waves of nostalgia washing over me
Yeah i feel that like a lot man i need to move to a bigger city or something where there more people
Same, watching videos in small town swampland Florida, using Testors Enamel paints from Walmart on dollar store army men until I finally got my hands on some metal minis with an online gift card. Now as a grown man I feel privileged having Vallejo paints, but that voice in my head still tells me not to waste it because “it’s so hard to get”, even though a hobby shop is down the street.
@@mardigan4922 man i feel this im still living inthe deep end of the woods
Man you got me tearing up. MWG was one of the first 3 channels I started following when I started into minis. I've got near 15 year old videos of theirs saved for whenever I get the chance on some projects lol
Hell yeah! That little skull faced dude is the coolest!
I'll make sure I get you one!
I like the short form videos, it definitely allows for a wider range of topics to be covered, keep it up!
“I don’t trust creative people if the don’t have unfinished things” I love that.
I love how open you are with all your projects. You don't have to be, but you just have so much fun telling us whats going on whenever we ask
1:47 "I sold these melted straws as Pink Horrors. Tzeentch Pink Horrors."
Come on, Trent. You can't drop that bombshell on us, and not show us how to do it.
Sounds like there's a tutorial on MWG lol
@@innocentbystander309 For a tree made of straws, yes. Have we seen the _Pink Horrors_ made of straws, tho?
Your videos got me back into the hobby, I really can't thank you enough. I love how you take such an artistic approach to your minis and videos; you have a narrative you want to tell and emotions you want to evoke & you do both so masterfully. Your "Warhammer You Don't Paint" video was absolutely top quality and I hope more like that is coming soon! Stay awesome!
Love the high amount of uploads in the last few days.
You’ve been hugely influential in helping me keep hobby brain worms from killing my enthusiasm for the hobby, among a few other creators. Can’t say i wouldn’t be making terrain if it weren’t for starting with your templates however many years ago now
I love hearing about all the wholesome interactions at Adepticon and other gatherings! This hobby is really awesome for someone with social anxiety, knowing everyone there shares the same niche interest does wonders for breaking down barriers.
Love the frequency of these episodes! Your stuff gets me juiced up to create something. The only problem is pulling myself away from the videos to go actually make something of my own.
Something clicked for me when I saw you taking your old builds apart to make new ones. I realized that, even if what I build today isn't my favorite thing I've made, maybe I can make it even cooler in the future. That's a nice, freeing sort of thought, to me.
Thats some crazy output these days.
loving the sorter videos that you've been posting lately, seeing you make things is always so inspiring, regardless of what project your working on
How wholesome is the anecdote about Trent's history with mini wargaming Dave ?!?
Your unbridled joy in this hobby and messy nature is honestly the biggest reason I enjoy your stuff/stick around (though I rarely comment). You're so ready to do shit and know (just as any great artist should) that perfectionism is not the goal but a disease which kills. Seeing you get all teared-up was so sweet & moving, demonstrating how genuinely excited you are to be here.
And as someone who is in the indie TTRPG space as a designer myself, with lots of opinions on what it could be doing better, I am _extremely_ keen in finding out what upcoming project is about you so cheekily cut before saying. Vibrating with anticipation.
Loving the increase in vids! Also just wanted to say you've been so influential to myself (and I'm sure many others) when it comes to being more relaxed around the hobby. Incredibly freeing in a way no other creator out there really has made me feel. While you may not have been there when I was getting into stuff and growing up, you're definitely my MWG Dave.
Cannot like enough! I love these new videos and I think everyone here loves being along for the ride in your hobby adventure.
My local hobby scene is very small, and mostly consists of very ‘lore friendly’ rules focused Warhammer people. I ended up stumbling onto one of your videos while I was trying to assemble a box I had, and that night I ended up hacking together a succubus model for my drukhari out of leftover fabric bits and parts. It was the first ever model I made without following the directions.
Hearing you talk about the people who originally inspired you to do creative things, I guess you’re pretty much that for me. Thank you for all that you’ve made.
"I don't trust any creative who doesn't have unfinished projects"
I totally get that one. Trial and error and error is part of creation. I have files upon files of unfinished scripts, plays, stubs of prose and poetry, info and profiles for characters. Some of it's like 15 years old, but might be of use to me down the line even further.
It all lives in your subconscious ready to pop out at a moments notice for the next project
My brother and I have started painting minis in the past 2 weeks. Thanks for giving me the inspiration and motivation I've needed to try it.
That Arcane Ugly tease had me appropriately seething. Well done.
The walking house is dope. As for the pile of shame, it takes many sketches to make satisfying art.
I must say that it is very refreshing to have more of your videos more often. Just keep making them. Even if it's you just sitting in a chair, working on stuff, and talking. We all will watch and listen. You inspire everyone. Just keep the videos coming.
Miscast videos are how I picture the void in 40k
Love the channel man
I needed to hear that part about unfinished projects. I have so many half baked projects laying around and a massive pile of... opportunity. I have finished stuff too, but sometimes I beat myself up for having unfinished projects. But I think you're right- it's part of the process and shows that you're willing to explore new ideas.
I came for the Nurgle and stayed for the positive vibes. I really like your designs and energy and want to see what you make
I was watching your channel back when you would build stuff from templates like that church terrain! Its been a wild ride and I really enjoy seeing your channel grow in different ways.
That nurgle diaries bit, such a mood as a content creator. Like I stepped away from build vids, because my backlog of minis exploded. You do you, that why I'm on this ride. You've been super inspiring on my on sculpting journey recently.
You do you. Everything you make and every video is something I look forward to. I love the frantic hobby time and random projects. When you get invested in something, it really shows through in your videos.
You are one of my hobby heroes! You've inspired my creativity in having fun with kit bashing and your terrain videos were godly. I remember making the Ork barricades and tyranid spires for my friends when we played in high school. Eva foam ftw! Much love!
I really loved it when you broke apart the Nurgle army, partially because what you made with them was really cool. But mostly because it made me feel sort of sad that they were gone. It felt like they were actually alive and constantly changing, which is so cool and thematically consistent for a kitbashed army. I love the stuff you make and the journey you bring us on. Keep it up!
Ngl these videos always cheer me up and I know that's a pretty standard thing to say but they give me the energy to get passionate in my own projects and actually get things done.
That plastic straw video was my first introduction to tabletop war games and the first chance I got I made as many as I could just cause I thought they looked so cool!
That bit you've wanted to use would make a great start of a totem pole
Such a wholesome beginning! You are one of the nicest and most creative people I’ve met. I feel so lucky to have been gifted one of your minis
The short form stuff really works, honestly I think every upload you make is great. Keep doing what you feel is right and works for you!
Dude, those little guys are cool. I'd buy them just because I love quirky little minis.
so this is probably my first actual comment I've ever done, but I had to let you know that you give me and my friend so much inspiration to make new things and try things like kit bashing and even terrain building, your awesome dude best hobby channel on RUclips, every video I watch it just takes me back to when I was a kid and it was all magical and just all round wholesome vibes everytime I watch one of your vids. much love and please keep doing what you are doing
I've never felt bad in regards to my Golden Horde of unbuilt figs, terrain, models and unfinished projects of which there are many... indeed, it's all often inspiring...
It's been a good 6 years of miscast models and miscasted terrain. It's been an absolute pleasure being a teen butchering your terrain advice and its been just as much a please to watch you do things you love and take this channel wherever you please
i dont care what you make, i just like your style of videos, because i like making and creating chaotically, and your videos are generally chaotic
You're such a genuine guy, I'm still surprised you're not way bigger on youtube. Please don't burn out by taking on too many things at once. Make sure you're working at a manageable speed!!
Just wanted to say that you're for me, what MWG Dave is for you. I can't even express with words how you've helped me improve with the hobby and all other sort of things. Also you've been the greatest inspiration, and motivation that keeps me going on with all of my unfinished projects and armies. Thank you!
I'm here for whatever you make, as long as it makes you happy making it.
Tbh I would love to see you making more Mini's from scratch or random bits. The way your imagination works blows my mind.
Trent: "It's the next day! 24th of April!"
Me, looking at my calendar: "Oh those Australians"
We're here for you and your creations man! You've got such an interesting and captivating style in everything you post here. The small videos are great, but the slightly bigger projects are even better :)
I also remember the plastic straw video. those alien plants were first terrain I ever crafted
Those arcane ugly minis are sick! I want them!
I just wanna see you do weird shit. As a fan of old wonky GW/Foundry/Ral Partha pewter minis, old lofi fantasy art and weird fiction, all your kitbashes and builds and art is right up my alley. Keep doing what you want to and I'll watch it
I think the ideas that come from your own head have been the best, keep on making stuff for yourself!
I made my first mini last week ant the age of 38 and it’s largely thanks to you and your videos. You’re doing the same service for the community that MWG Dave did for you.
Whaaaaat another video so soon? You’re spoiling us man! I very much enjoy these recent conversation focused videos, feels like chatting with a mate ❤
I guess a lot of people appreciate good quality creativity and thats probably why they got attached to the Nurgle thing!!
Not every one is as gifted as you so they will always love your work more then you will!!
It can be a bit baffling and worrying but i dont think you need to worry about not having anything to replace it!!
Please stop burning the candle at both ends we all enjoy your videos and dont want the uniqueness to fade away!!! 😊
Amazing video!!! Really been loving the different format, and hope you keep doing these less strictly structured videos, chaotic art for the win!
Keep making what you want to make. I’m here for your creativity! That’s the whole point.
Every time i see you post i do a lil' giggle, i just love seeing you do what you love doing. you inspire me to do silly things, and that's fun
Eventhough you didn’t get to my question, it was a great Q&A. You’re such a genuine guy. And I don’t get why people demand the Nurgle Diaries. We are getting Miscast Diaries now, which are far superior and inspirational.
DUDE! Your models give me some real Hellboy/Mike Mignola vibes, I love it!
Miscast, creativity incarnate, keep doing what you want!
It's lovely to see things come full circle for you with mini wargamer Dave! I love when things like that happen at Adepticon.
I've 'accidentally' fallen back into the hobby by starting a Warhammer club in the Library I work at as there is nothing local for younger hobbyists. Seeing the kids getting into the painting, creating and socialising is absolutely awesome. Next week we're making our own scenery and can't wait to see what madness they create.
All the content over the past week after having the long break has me like an addict getting their fix
So good to see you making so many videos, it's delightful! Thanks!
I don’t know where you can. I just become one of my favorite artists. Like since taking an art history class, it made me think about why you create art a lot more and you talk about your process a lot more and it’s just really interesting to me
i found you during the nurgle episodes, i honestly loved it a lot but i have continued to follow you, i would really love to see you add a conversion into one of these all over the place vids, i love the format and i kinda reminds me of casey neistats editing. i enjoy watching your content buit still miss the nurgle a lot lol, i have never been someone with a big imagination, and watching yours poor out through the insane shit you make, brings me hobby joy and makes me want to hobby more. your videos are great and they all do it but for me the warhammer stuff just brings a direct link between your content and what i personally enjoy. but at the end of the day even when your content isnt warhammer related it still gives me that drive to want to hobby myself. but maybe that where a lot of people are coming from with the whole nurgle diaries. i miss it alot but really enjoy everything so just keep doing what makes you happy, your drive and happiness is ultimately what makes your content yours and intriguing
'Its 24th of april" no its not 😠
greetings from austria i love the frequent uploads!
Greetings from the future (australia)
Killer video man. Has me super inspired and thinking about a ton of new projects! Love your creative approach and how authentic you come across. Keep it up brother 🔥🙏🏼🔥
D'awww! Sending a hug for the vulnerability!
What a gorgeous work of art 😊 That's super amazing 💯👍
I came here from Nurgle Diaries, but your content overall has given me an amazing creative push in my own life. You work with models with such ease and understanding, at least to a newbie like myself, that I am finally experimenting with sculpting and kitbashing. Keep on inspiring creativity in the world.
So happy you met Dave
Hey I came to your channel from the Nergal Diaries and was disappointed when you scrapped the army, but your explanation has helped me empathize and root for you and your channel. I'm hooked!
Lovely vid. I'm glad you said something about unfinished projects, sometimes I feel like a "failed artist" cause I have a lot of unfinished work. But I love to explore.
Your whole channel lines up with my philosophy well. It's refreshing, after seeing a lot of very american-style content.
I'm a knitter and we call unfinished projects UFOs. Lots of knitting groups and blogs have UFO challenges.
I'm pretty sure there is a month for UFO's actually. My daughter went to Yale Drama for her Masters in Theater Design, specializing in costuming. She had designed an incredible Mad Hatter costume and came across a box of colorful cotton granny squares of different shapes and sizes I had started for a blanket. I'm more of a knitter than a crocheter and assembling all the different shapes "squares" was a bitch. Thus the UFO box. My daughter took these squares, along with some thrifted crochet throws and made the most creative, colorful, bonkers Mad Hatter costume. The show was "Alice" with music by Tom Waits and it starred Ilia Paulino as Alice. She is now in the HBO series "The Sex Lives of College Girls".
The show got great reviews, all particularly mentioning my daughter's eye-popping costumes. This was in Feb 2020 and I'm still tickled that something I worked hard on for awhile and then stuffed in a cardboard box that would occasionally haunt me, got used in such a brilliant and creative way. If anyone reading this is curious to see the Mad Hatter costume google "Meg Powers Yale Alice costumes". Or check out her Instagram. Sadly there are no clips of it anywhere because of copyrights.
Just googled it myself and realized I had forgotten she also used a blanket I had been crocheting but didn't finish. There is a theme here; while I *can* crochet, I'm not really a crocheter. 😝
You are a beautiful human being, don't ever change.
I absolutely LOVE how genuine you are my man, it's an absolute breath of fresh air in hobby youtube dominated by unattainable professional paintjobs masquerading as amateur and clickbait HENRY CAVIL BLAH BLAH BLAH titles and I love what you're doing
I started following you not for the diaries nor for arcane ugly but for who you are. Can’t wait for the next arcane ugly step and project with Tines though!
My favorite videos are the ones where you break things :D keep breaking things man.❤
I already commented on this video but here goes a cool idea that I had just now and can't do it myself. Picking in your kitbashing fun videos you could make like a mini series or just one video of you taking like a kill team/warband/skirmish sized kitbashed team and selling it on eBay or your site with the funds eirher going to you, charity, both, giving away, idk just make it fun like you always do. It could even be just a bunch of foam cubes
Trent, what you make is amazing, but I think the best thing you're helping to make is the next generation of makers. Just like those who inspired you to make and create you are inspiring others! I hold you in the highest regard as a maker and an entertainer; I'll be here no matter what strange and wonderful things you decide to make.
To me at least, you have had the same effect on me as MWG Dave has done to you. I just thought that was neat
3:00 had me started crying with you! I love your videos because they are just so emotional and real like this mentioned scene. It had me in tears especially because I watched MWG Daves video before are also felt so connected because my life is also difficult with mental health right now.
So stay strong, keep doing what what you love and I love your videos!
Greetings from Germany! :)
If you lost everything, all your crafting supplies and mini pieces, where would you start to grow back your works? (Looking for inspiration on how to get started myself)
Howdy, when you were talking about the nurgle videos, I figured id say. I just like watching your videos for the weird and funny things you get up to. Sometimes I get to stuck in what I'm allowed to do with my hobby due to 40k but then I watch one of your videos and remember its my hobby I can do what I want with it. If I want to make a chaos spawn with 4 las cannons and 2 heavy stubbers I can.
-TLDR I like your videos for the weird stuff you do not any one project. so please keep making em :)
I've been liking the vlog stuff man. It's pretty fun and fresh. Would love to see your obscene armies fight more dudes though. Would be awesome 👌
I would love to see you make a dieselpunk inspired army in your style! Keep up the vids bro!!!!
This was cool. When you were talking about the nurgle diaries it was exciting to hear how much enthusiasm you have for what's upcoming.
PS. As indie rpg-er I'm confident I know the biggest problem you almost mentioned. Looking forward to hearing you talk about it.
PPS. I like the cairn rpg
Happy to see more short form videos. I wanted to comment on the last video but I ended up not... hearing you talk about Dave has kinda pushed me to post. You're probably one of my favourite hobby youtubers-- I love listening to your videos on process and the mistakes along the way. While flash-y visuals are cool and nice sometimes and I've definitely most of your videos at some point with my full attention on the screen... a lot of the time when I'm hobbying I'll have them on in the background: It's nice for me to listen to you going through a creative process while I'm doing the same. I'm glad to see you release more of these short form videos-- the big projects with huge models or armies or terrain are immensely cool but I really enjoy your vlogs as just a peek in on your creativity and the ideas, set backs and solutions that come along with that.
I would be touched and weepy and all, but I'm just too damn distracted by that savage Vincey V sticker...
It can be intimidating to create things for an audience, you offer some great advice here, thanks man!
I NEED those models
This is all very inspiring. I actually bought a toad and intend to recast it and maybe sell some of my own creations alongside
man... so many videos! Good work!
