@99MarC-- When I purchased my Samsung Galaxy A15 5G recently, they did not tell me that a SIM card was needed. I made them aware that I have the A14 4G as well and wanted to test out these two phones to determine which one I would use on a data plan, example difference in sound quality etc. When I couldn't set up the A15 5G because it required a Sim card, this was a dead end I thought until I listened to this video by munchy. I phoned the store where I purchased the A15 5G and let them know that they were not truthful. It is a trap to sell you a data plan that they offer which are subpar plans. Thank you munchy for your instructions.

Update: While this track worked, It was a wasted effort... because as soon as I activated the eSim the phone reset itself to factory default, wiping out all the work I did to set it up first. It's possible that this was a T-mobile firmware "feature," but I still had to start over.

THANK YOU. Just got my Samsung Z Fold 5 and they were forcing the SIM card setup. I need my IMEI number to get the QR code for esim but that's not possible during setup. Freaking idiots at Samsung didn't think of that.

Newer Samsung devices sold in the US will allow you to set up your phone without a SIM inserted. This is because you must select your service provider/carrier before inserting the corresponding SIM.

after setting everything up, and then inserting your sim card later on, it will wipe the phone factory data reset.. so make sure you use a sim card before setting up... this bypass is only good if you never plan to use a sim card with it or dont mind the phone wiping after

Looks like the setup process is a little different on my zfold6. You can progress to insert your sim but no further, lucky if you go back to the start and do this procedure it will enable the no sim feature. Thanks!
