    What an excellent review. I went and test drove, then immediately ordered a new Yeti. Shame the video quality resembles something you'd have submitted to Jeremy Beadle on You've Been Framed in the 90s. Have you scaled back the quality for some commercial reason? If not I hope you've invested in a decent camera since!

    Rear seats are not a bench, as he says but individual, as he demonstrates. They are easy to remove, if a bit heavy. The centre seat will not fold flatish without removal of the head rest. Great car tho', especially with the DSG. If you can, get a spare wheel because the sealant provided will cause problems with repair and can damage the TPMS sensor (tyre pressure monitor sensor) attached to the valve.

    Actually if you want a smoother, more sporty drive and don't do high mileage I would argue the 1.8 tsi to be a great option. It's also a couple of thousand pounds cheaper than the 170 diesel. You have to do a lot of miles before the diesel starts saving money over the petrol. Also no dpf issues to worry about!

    • @Mackeson3
      @Mackeson3 9 лет назад

      +stanaustin77 They have dropped the 170 diesel now. The biggest one has 150 hp and incorporates an "Adblue" system to reduce exhaust emissions.

    • @stan_austin
      @stan_austin 8 лет назад

      +Mackeson3 Ye they also dropped the 160 petrol and replaced with a more efficient 150 1.4 unit. Like you say the diesels now have an adblue (urea) tank. DPF still present.

    • @shambooly
      @shambooly 8 лет назад

      The Adblue system is worth a mention as it adds to running costs. You'll get around 3500 miles to a tank of Adblue (around 8.5 litres) and then it'll cost you around £30 to refill it and you have to do it, if you don't and you let it run out, you won't be able to start the engine until you top it up so it's not something you can ignore.

    My idea for it is to get rid of spare wheel and turn it into gas tank for LPG, so using two tanks it can get longer distance or travel more cheaply. Rooftop tent, and adding back box where actuall real spare wheel would be together with other stuff. For example composting toilet could be hidden in back box, and since you can take all back seats out, it really can be turned into small camper.

    • @derekduxbury1122
      @derekduxbury1122 Год назад

      Now you're talking my language. Do skoda do back boxes? I'm sure there are good after market ones, anyway? Don't know about lpg conversion? Think easier to just have diesel?

    • @michalviktorin6758
      @michalviktorin6758 Год назад +2

      @@derekduxbury1122 If you run on both gasoline and lpg, it means you have two tanks, which means you can go much further without need to visit gas station. LPG cost less than half the price of gas or diesel, so combination also save you money in long term. It does not make a sense if you are not daily driver, or if you do not want to explore foreing country or something else, but it makes sense if you do. At least it makes sense to me.

    • @derekduxbury1122
      @derekduxbury1122 Год назад

      @@michalviktorin6758 I'm in UK, and it's getting harder to find lpg. If you go abroad, you have to disconnect the lpg as they won't let it on ferries. Least they didn't use to. Not sure, but think eurostar is the same? Think in UK it's easier to run diesel, but on the continent it probably makes sense.

    • @michalviktorin6758
      @michalviktorin6758 Год назад

      @@derekduxbury1122 If Im not mistaken, more and more countries in Europe even allows them park inside. In my country you need to go to check it every four years for possible leaking, but usually there is not any, and that check does not cost much, so I wonder if they can change rules for boats, if you had recent check. Otherwise LPG should be common in Italy for example, since they got companies like Landi Renzo, which does LGP and CNG conversions and kits for it for ages. In my country it is also widely spread. In my small town 65% of gas stations have it. Ones that does not, have CNG at least.

    • @shambooly
      @shambooly 8 лет назад +4

      Yes they are. They've done things right and sorted their reputation out. They are essentially VW's as that's where most of their components come from. The Yeti is essentially a VW Tiquan, but designed the Skoda way. I liked the Skoda Yeti so looked at the reviews and every single one was excellent, every person I spoke to who owned a Skoda said it was probably the best car they've ever owned and when I took one for a test drive recently I was so impressed I bought a brand spanker from the main dealer immediately. I can't give you first hand experience I'm afraid as I don't take delivery for another 2 weeks but I'm more excited about this car than any other I've owned, and when I've told people I'm getting a Skoda not one person has made a joke (in fact quite the contrary, the main response I've had is... "Good shout").

      @@mikeoglen6848 I've had my Yeti for 4 years now and still love it to bits. It's like driving a tank, it feels solid and can go anywhere. There is plenty of room for people but the boot is a bit small but then it is quite a compact suv. It doesn't use any oil, I get 45mpg around town, 60+ mpg on the motorways. I do have to fill up with adblue every 5000 miles or so but it's not a big job, you can get it at the pumps nowadays. 2 of my cousins have lr discovery's and I've been able to go everywhere they go off road so far and it will easily pull a 16 foot speedboat up a wet slipway. I don't have a bad word to say about it, I'll be keeping it until the end of its life which will probably be another 15 years or so. I love the fact that I can take the back seats out and have a van too, that's pretty cool. Get one, they're awesome.

      @shambooly 3 года назад +1

      @@mikeoglen6848 I must admit I'd forgotten about this 🤣. Nice one, a friend of mine has the 1.2 petrol and loves it, I've got the 2.0 diesel with the bigger turbo (150 bhp) and it goes like stink. I wanted the torque for towing heavy loads, I pull caravans, horses and boats and thought it would be too much to ask of a smaller engine. I then fitted a roof rack to carry all the wood I buy for my carpentry so the small boot issue is now mute. It's done everything I've asked of it from taking the family to a wedding to towing a catamaran out of the Irish sea and it never looks out of place.
