Gymnasts work harder, coming from one obvious. Gymnasts have NO SPOTTERS during competition only if your not tall enough to reach the high bar if you fall. And we have more injuries because we have no shoes we have bare toes which makes it EASIER to break. And our hands get bloody... I can name more
syd huzarr Uh okay, don't know what that has to do with anything since gymnastics is not only a sport but a recognized sport. Its also included in cheerleading along with dance. I also used to be a gymnast before I was a cheerleader so I know all the dangers but I still don't get what you were trying to say????
Robert is my favorite person ever. watching this 7 years later is insane. hes grown so much. I've met him so many times and hes truly so genuine and amazing
Who else laughs in the face of people who think dance and cheer aren't sports and they think the routines are easy and practices don't make you want to die
Cookie Monster the boys in my grade mock me and my best friend and I'm like u wouldn't even last a minute at my practice! And he's like go team in a baby voice and I just want to punch him and he's all like cheer never was and never is a sport and I'm just like SHUT UP PLZ! UGH plz at least someone understands my pain
Livy's Life! Life in dance and cheer is hard and there will be people who mock and tell you it's not a sport there will also be people who tell you you can't do it, don't listen to them. Just ignore and block out any negativity because if you believe strongly in something you can do it no matter what and don't let any idiotic boys get in your way and tell you it's not a sport
I love and appreciate dancers(don't get me wrong) and I do believe that they work extremely hard, but the amount of insults coming from dancers in the comments is really rude. I think both cheer and dance are extremely hard and they both don't get enough credit. Can't we all just agree on that?
+luv2flip01 Thank you! I'm a dancer and it frustrates me when dancers insult cheerleaders! Cheer and dance are basically sister sports and we just need to get along and acknowledge how hard both sports are!!
I know I was is dance last years and I'm an older kid it was really hard to catch up I did across next year I'm doing ballet and track I'm not competing though I hate how we cant just do it for fun
I'm a dancer and I agree because they're both really hard and pretty damn incredible and they shouldn't be compared all the time. Like everyone just enjoy your sport/art form and leave the other sports alone
for everyone talking about the coach.. he just wants them to win, in order to be champions you have to be pushed, with any sport. It doesn't just come naturally.
Every single one of these athletes is screened over long periods of time for not just their athletic skills which are dominant but their ability to handle stress, stress and more stress, physical duress that would put most of us to our knees inside of 4 minutes and an ability to act with integrity and honor in and outside the gym. It's a very tough gig and this coach has my utmost respect. He walks his talk and then some. What a phenomenal life experience for all involved.
I seriously LOVE this serie, reality, however you want to call it but it shows how HARD we practice or work to hit our routine, I personally, as a cheerleader, HATE when someone says it is not a sport, like seriously????? We work our asses off and have just one chance on the mat to show all the hard work, on soccer you have an hour or idk and idc and so, but cheerleading is seriously the hardest sport ever. I love being a cheerleader.
Wow and girls on the squad at my school complain those people DESERVE respect for what Eddie and Orby put them through I would NEVER be able to do that without dying afterwards you guys are true champs
I have so much respect for that coach and the team. That's how you're supposed to practice. I tell my daughter all the time "practice how you want to perform". This team lives out that mantra.
cheerleaders work harder then football players do. first off, they put 90 lbs or more girls in the air, they do a bunch of tumbling, choreography, they get bruised up, teared down and injured badly. while football players run around, tackle people and throw 2 lbs ball in the air. think again.
Mara L sis...not sure when football players learned choreography, did stunts, and did tumbling. do you even know what that is? probably not. look it up. cheerleaders don’t need padding because they work so goddamn hard. they get hurt even more. look up cheer injuries. i’ve had more than 3 injuries from cheerleading. get a brain in your head.
Mara L this is soooo true half the kids in my team act as dumb as a 2 year old when I am here skipping a grade most people when they see us think we are really dumb but it is just those few jids
I miss cheer leading so much! I love the stress and challenge and the sweat and tears! I'm just like the couch I crave perfection no matter how much it hurts
Dude honestly he is not psycho. This is what it takes. This shit is intense. People need to learn. This is why I laugh in the faces of people who say this isn't a sport. Like... When you play football, you have helmet, pads you have all this to protect you. When we're being thrown into the air, we're trusting our bases not to let us land on our necks. If you are not smiling in competition? Deduction. If you bleed and show pain on the mat? Disqualified. If you pass out? Disqualified. If your thumbs aren't tucked in, your motions aren't tight, your high-V is too low or not perfect, all of this and much much more, we have to think about WHILE performing, while also trying to remember our routine and keep our stunts up. People who say it takes no effort and that it's not a sport, I invite them to try. Most days we train harder then any football player. We set a goal and we reach it. More then that, we do better. We bleed, sweat and cry cheer.
Honestly I know girls who have broken their wrists and not gone to the doctor or told their coach because that would mean not competing. That would mean letting down your team. Everyone has a place on the team. Everyone has a job. During a competition at worlds, my coach's team had a flyer who came down wrong and elbowed her base in the face. The flyer shattered her elbow and the base spat out two teeth and had a broken nose. They both blacked out (mentally not actually passed out) and they STILL finished the routine flawlessly.
Robert said something about how Robert doesn’t care that they are tired.. and I just thought I’d say, it isn’t that he doesn’t care but it’s that he is trying to make your team champions again.. and being a champion is not about what you do when your all fresh and everything is great. Being a champion is about how hard you push while your sore and it feels like you can’t take it anymore, and you still do your stunts and you still go all out.
It really irks me as a dancer when people say dance isn't a sport, when both dance and cheer are. My dance team at school never gets enough credit for what we do when we are the hardest working team there. The football players even sympathize for us. The cheer teams do nothing but complain when they have to condition-which is like once a month, but yet everyone appreciates them. The only ones who look good are the ones who cheer at a gym, and there aren't many. We condition twice a week for an hour each, plus we have practices 4-5 days a week which could vary from 1 hour to 9 hours. Our conditioning is almost as hard as what SMOED does. We are also a year long sport like cheer, and we don't get breaks.
I completely believe dance is hard. But when you said people appreciate cheerleaders that's wrong. Sorry. ( But I completely believe your fact on dance is super hard)
People really don't appreciate us. The cheerleaders are the ones people go to games to watch (aside from the actual sport), and people always talk about how 'amazing' they are. The ones at my school are not that great, like I said. They get more priveleges from the school JUST because they cheer. Both cheer and dance perform at games and are there to pump up the crowd, but when we hear people at school talk about how 'great' the cheerleaders are, or how much they like them, it upsets us because we're supposed to have a greater purpose. And when us dancers get a chance to shine, people complain. Not to sound rude, but yes, cheerleaders are more appreciated than dancers.
Just starting cheerleading is hectic. But seeing the work this team puts into their practises to get ready for the real performance shows that I'm not working to my full abilty. Living in South Africa makes the cheer squad I'm part of is COMPLETELY different to the cheer squads over seas. Inspired by all the girls and boys in this team.
There was no reason why to bring dance into this dance is just as hard.I was f*cking puking yesterday we do 500+sit ups,5 min planks,100 jumping jack ,50 frog jumps and etc.No one from dance criticized cheer for anyone to bring up dance I respect cheer a lot so please do the same and respect what I do too.
ya i love them all i even try to learn the terms i even want to go to summer camps to learn even more true fact all of these are very hard none are easy (:
In cheerleading, one wrong move can mean someone gets injured severely. Eddie is right to be hard on them because if they're not focused, someone could get badly hurt. And as far as getting breaks and oh he's so bad, you guys must not have ever been in the sport of track and field. You know how long my breaks were? Ha! On distance days, we didn't get breaks. We ran ten miles until all ten were done.
In dance we ALWAYS have to do the dance full out for the whole practice and for me that was 5 hours of practice 5-6 days a week. It really sucks in the moment, but it pays off!
so, i understand why eddie is pushing them so hard and really making them work, but he could have the slightest sympathy for them... I mean people are puking and he couldn't care less!
Can't believe it's been five years since this show! Wow this is making me reminicse my cheer team. Poor Jazzy, that was always me. The flyer that just could never stay up. I did really well with the Stunt group that wasn't mine and would practice with since they were so good and experienced but was soon as I got with my stunt group down I went. Unfortunately j was the only other girl who could even fly at all so my group always had to have watered down stunts :(
people don't understand this is how cheer is.. its not child abuse, when it comes down to it you know your coaches love you, they want to see you succeed
I seriously have new found respect for cheerleaders. Like, I thought being a cheerleader was so easy then I watched this series, and now I'm like, "Damn. That looks so fucking hard now. That is legit scaring the shit out of me."

Cheerleding is okay i would say because i was a cheerleader and its really hard

I cannot imagine football players work as hard as these kids do. They've got the "cheer" part backwards. Wave those helmets for the team, boys! :D

and then Peyton ends up replacing jenee
I wouldn't say replace. Jenee left the team and there was a spot open for her :)

And can you please stop talking poop about cheer. (Not being rude or mean)
Does anyone else think that this is like dance moms at all ???
Kinda just that the coaches are hard on them
a bit
Yes
It’s worse trust me I cheer like this and it is worse
Yes but thankfully no parents drama is involved. I only watch it for the kids, dance moms, cheer moms, soccer moms etc. drama is annoying!
Eddie squinting at 5:58 has me bawling omggg
I love Peyton!!!!! She's so awesome! She just came in and started working! She is an inspiration! And amazing!!!!!
