    These are very inspirational uses of the technique that show the many possibilities that can be achieved quickly.
    One comment. At the beginning of the video you use a long delay for feedback with the delay time set to it's lowest value to achieve some feedback effect. The long delay being the idiomatic way to do cable based feedback.
    I dunno if you know this but you can achieve the same thing by adding a knob (DC level) on the front end which you can cable as normal into inputs, then use a modulator (on the back end) to modulate the knob at audio rates. This avoids the long delay and provides close to zero latency. In my experiments, if you subtract the input from the output you do in fact get a flat line, unlike using a long delay.
    This can be quite useful when emulating analog circuits from 1970's / 1980's schematics.
    Hope this tip is useful to others.

      @@GarronsMusic have fun. the only thing is, if you need separate stereo, you probably need to do a stereo split on the back end and a merge on the front end. Probably should have mentioned that.

      amazing stuff as always! quick question. i know i could google it or read the tooltips or whatever but maybe u have a more straght forward answer, what does this AM/RM does? its some ring modultaion of what? whats that for? :) keep up the awesome videos thx :)

    • @GarronsMusic
      @GarronsMusic  3 года назад +1

      Hello yes it basically just ring modulates the signal you put through it by the signal you put into the second input! Or do you mean what is ring modulation?

    • @felperc
      @felperc 3 года назад

      @@GarronsMusic yea :D what is ring mod? :)

    • @GarronsMusic
      @GarronsMusic  3 года назад +1

      @@felperc as far as I understand it it’s basically audio rate volume modulation!
      Someone might be able to weigh in who knows more about the math behind it.
      But if the signal you are using to modulate is a low frequency it will basically be a tremolo effect. At higher frequencies it’ll impart its own pitch! It can get really metallic sounding!

    Great video! I really missed the sampler FM in Ableton when switching to Bitwig but never realised it was this easy in Grid 😂 nice to find a fellow Irish Bitwig user here on RUclips also! Sound mang 😎

    Hmm... I had never heard of this thing until now - it looks really powerful! I just bought a LinnStrument, which comes with a free licence for Bitwig Studio... but I think it's a cut-down version, so not sure I'll have access to The Grid or not until I install it.

    I've been an ableton user for last 5 years but am trying now to migrate to bitwig as it seems more flexible in terms of sound design options. Will prob still stick with ableton for jamming but want to get more into bitwig for sound design, composition, arrangement, prooduction, etc. So thank you for the videos. And any more will be geatly apreciated. Cheers.

    One thing that isn’t straight forward to do in Bitwig compared to conventional FM synths is to dial in specific ratios accurately. In Bitwig the ratio numerators and denominators can only be expressed as whole numbers (Likewise for Bitwig’s FM4 🤦‍♂). Whereas most dedicated FM synths, have numerators tweakable to the hundredths of a decimal point.
    A necessity for more intricate FM synthesis or to reasonably emulate some classic FM patches.
    No doubt there’s probably a way to get around it with some maths modules, but I’m yet to figure it out 🤔

    • @BarryTheElephant
      @BarryTheElephant Год назад

      [solved, I think] By using two Constant modules through a Multiply module then to Pitch In of the oscillator, one can dial in decimal accurate ratios. One Constant stays fixed at 0.05, the other Constant defines the Pitch Ratio.

      Yes I do talk about why I’m calling it FM at the start of the video. Most popular FM synths are PM. So the sound most people associate with FM is actually Phase Modulation!
