If Disney actually has the guts to retheme this attraction, then they will be making a very grievous mistake. People love not only the experience, but the characters, too (who are so long removed from the film that they've taken on a life of their own, divorced from the "controversy" of the film, unless someone choose to dredge up that context to stir up fake controversy).

Tokyo Disneyland's Splash Mountain is also located in Critter Country but it is unique with Southwestern US/Mexico themes/feels and the audio is identical with WDW's with country-western aroma featuring banjos and harmonicas but some OSTs are in Japanese.
Hell, I went down a steep hill in my old neighborhood using a shopping cart. That was much faster and more scary than the drop down! 🤣 It was also more dangerous, though.
This music might play in frontierland, but I don't think it ever played near Splash Mountain at Disneyland, this music is most likely from Big Thunder Mountain, or Splash Mountain at WDW.

I don’t really get the change to the bayou theme because we already have that at disneyland on our Pirate’s ride. If they must change it, I think they should do it at disney world and keep the original disneyland one so you have best of both worlds.
