      @ZoeEquestrian23 Год назад +1

      not really. i know you posted this a while ago but she had perfect balance and a really nice trot. The fall was not even her fault.

    • @CamilleandJam
      @CamilleandJam Год назад +6

      @@ZoeEquestrian23Her trot was not the best, and it was her fault most likely because she may possible be a bit big for the horse (not size wise..) , so the weight may have caused the horse to slip. In my opinion she also looks as if she is leaning a bit forward trotting and cantering. You can clearly hear the train say don’t let your shoulders drop so there is an example. I agree that she should only be doing flat right now for her safety. Yes, I understand this was a long time ago so she may ahev gotten better.

    Tricky situation because the horse is on the forehand so it would take an experienced rider to balance up and save themselves. Good for Sophie getting back on and being brave. I also think that maybe the indicator on the mane is helpful for Sophie as it's a physical point of reference to know where her hands are to be. I mean if that is what helps I would put a thing in the mane of whatever steed she's riding a good 4 to 6 inches from the withers.

    After the fall, I think those were the best canter I’ve ever seen Sophie ride. She actually tried to sit back and relax a little bit!!

  • @caseyscattle
    @caseyscattle 3 года назад +86

    It’s the messy moments that are needed to help the rider learn. You can see after the fall Sophie focused more on gettin Buddy to balance especially in the corners, this could also give her additional motivation to learn to use a deep seat, with the light seat if the horse trips you’d have a higher chance of going if the head since you’re already leaning forward, this could be the extra push Sophie needs to make her want to sit the canter so if something like this comes up again she’ll be in an already balanced position and will have an easier time staying on.

    • @emmaaaa1004
      @emmaaaa1004 3 года назад +4

      You’re so right in this statement. Those moments teach a lot. I remember my riding school had this pony who had a habit of doing a dead stop sometimes out of the blue in both trot and canter and that was the pony that definitely taught me to put my heels down and sit back because I knew if I didn’t I would end up on his neck when or if he did a dead stop. Great learning opportunities!

      She is lucky that she is on that horse, he comes up to her. What the trainer missed is to tell her to look forward not down. She let the horses shoulder drop and thus her shoulder fell forward. She has a great walk trot foundation. I'd not let her jump just yet. She has a wonderful feel at the trot. She can control her body well at that speed. The trainer needs to have his ego checked.

    I think this is the best I've seen her ride. Amazing Sophie! Taking lessons on Brandon's horses have done wonders for her. She is sitting so much better and I like how they focused also on her hands today. After that fall she got right back on and started paying more attention to her riding. You can clearly see her improve so much after the fall. Good work!

    This was what I was talking about in the other video about weighty riders not being able to balance properly, the horse new it that's why he wouldn't canter because Sophie is not and cant balance properly which means you cant keep the horse balanced and tripping up is the biggest sign of a horse thats struggling to balance.
    Ive never seen him like that while Gabby was on her which proves the fact.

  • @chloesoutdoorlife6294

    I don’t think that you can ever let go or forget about a sole or a heart horse. You have bonded with that horse and has had over years of memories together. You just feel connected to them, and that you won’t ever feel that way with another horse. That horse has been in your life for Once Sophie fell, she had the best canter I have ever seen. Ok so this is the best I’ve seen Sophie ride in awhile. That fall definitely made her concentrate more on her riding. Buddy is a good horse to ride on because he is as forgiving and this will make her a better rider. Now a little trick I found having not a straight back and tending to lean forward was a shoulder/back support when you start falling out of position it pulls and releases as your posture corrects. This might help Sophie x

      this happened to me back in march but the horse was actually borderline on having a broken neck, she had cuts all over her knees and face and i had a concussion and twisted my knee out of place along with cuts many places as well. the poor horse was super green and we were going into a canter (that yes she was ready for she just struggled with her leads which is what we were working on) and she just lost all control of her front legs and we went down. if i wasn't for my knee (i have knee problems in both knees lol) i would have gotten up alot quicker to make sure she was ok, but it took me about 5ish to get up and then i went and checked on her. and i was actually the first one back on her after that which was about 4 weeks ago now and i had one if the best rides ive ever had on her. i was surprised, but super happy she still trusted me :)

    Great job sophie for getting right back on cantering AND jumping😊. This lesson you could really see her position come through( sometimes it helps if we are constantly reminded, i know it helps me , some will say the trainer is nagging, I say reminding when they see our position slipping) it's really hard work breaking old habits and the best way to get there is to be reminded. The more they tell you, the faster it will become muscle memory. I still do believe that EACH trainer has something to bring to each of the girls lessons. Brandon is working on sophie so she can transfer that onto finn ( yes they are working on relaxation with finn for now, but with sophie taking lessons on different horses and with Brandon working with her, she won't lose what she's learning). For all the people saying she doesn't ride Finn as good, both have alot to learn and they will get there with time, just because it's not an immediate thing doesn't mean they are mismatched. Everyone goes through learning curves in their riding, everyone. Keep it up sophie, your getting there, keep practicing and in no time it will all come together ❤

THE HORSE WAS OUT OF BALANCE, CANTERING WITH HIS HEAD TO THE OUTSIDE AND ON THE CURVE HE MUST HAVE STUMBLED OFF BALANCE, ALWAYS TRY TO HAVE THE HORSES NOSE IN THE DIRECTION HE TURNS. I KNOW WHY BRANDON ALWAYS SAYS ELBOWS IN, TO STOP THEM FROM FLAPPING OUT AND DROPPING HER HANDS DOWN TO BALANCE BY HIS WITHERS. THE SHOULERS ARE THE HINGE AND THE ELBOW TO THE BIT IN THE LINE, SO THE ELBOW SWINGS ALONG OUR SIDES, NOT ELBOWS STOPPING AT THE BELLY, THEY HAVE TO SWING FREELY ALONG SIDE THE BODY. WISH I COULD SHOW YOU WHAT I MEAN. .

    I remember a horse I was riding did the same thing only in a pile of shavings. It was a very soft landing

    My old horse used to trip. One time I was trotting her and she tripped and she made sure I didn't fall off her.
