A handful of Epsom Salts in a clean sock lightly dampened and applied to insect stings also draws out the sting and neutralises it. It is such a good remedy.
Warm salty water for sore throats is what the old time remedy is, but, consider: Do you put hot water on a burn, or do you use cold water? I was told to try cold salty water instead for a sore throat. It definitely helps and is easier on an already burning throat.
