Dear Dave, I can't think of a better way to close out the year than to say Thank You for your videos, your insights, and the many ways you prod my thinking. There is nothing I look forward to with greater anticipation than your videos (though I suppose that could read as much of a commentary on me as on your videos). In the last year-plus by listening to your daily releases and by scouring your past videos, I have truly consumed a lot of knowledge and insight from you. Thank you. On a personal note, I was not aware of the deep loss you experienced this past year. I hope that some peace comes your way. In closing, I promise to keep on listening so long as you continue to put out these videos. And a Happy New Year to Finster and Mildred. Wesley

Happy New Year first of all...and I look forward to the new year's game plan for the channel. The idea of the finger/foot prints of the great composers is a fantastic idea for a new mini series in my opinion...I also will be along for the ride in the Haydn Crusade (as usual), and thanks for sharing your knowledge and love of this music!!!

Happy New Year, Sir! I am so thankful for your videos! As I have mentioned in the past, I only wish your vids had been around 50 years ago, when I was struggling to begin my subsequent music degrees. It is SO nice to hear the voice of reason on so many musical issues that have been troublesome to me during most of those 50 years! One of the largest of these issues has been the German-centric almost total exclusion of most other nationalities in musicology...particularly Italian music of the 18th-19th and early 20th centuries. Ditto with the late 20th-century ridiculous academic embracement of the CRAPPY atonal and serial music to the almost exclusion of tonality. Thank you for getting this Old Man through the COVID crap of 2020 and then opening so many doors to new listening pleasures!

Dave, I appreciate you so much. It was a sad day for me when the last record store closed in my city. I've always loved music and loved recordings, and the thrill of going to a physical space filled with recordings and discussing them with the informed (and opinionated) staff has in my experience not been replaced by the new modes of buying discs online or streaming. I know we have to move on with the times, but still, it's a loss. You go a long way to filling the void left by those great record stores...and the lack of access to great music criticism in general. I've mostly only commented when I disagree with you...which is grossly unfair given how much I value your contributions. More Haydn and musical examples will be most welcome. Thanks for all you do. Happy 2025!

Thank you for all the composers unknown to me that I have explored because of your talks!
    Happy New Year!
So many young performers bringing a fresh look at standards as well as music not as mainstream...
For lovers of the organ, seems to be a surge in young fresh artists, like Jan Liebermann and Gert van Hoef...as well as choral groups like Tenebrae and VOCES8...sort of like in athletics, where new generations raise the bar of technique and energy and the resulting effect on the music.
I am glad listening to music does not affect my weight, cholesterol or A1c...we'd be in trouble!
    Happy listening!
And thank you for your informative and always entertaining talks.

Happy New Year Dave. I want to thank you for the thousands of videos and so many fantastic recommendations. Since I started watching your videos my CD collection has increased 10 fold. Recordings that I would never have given any consideration to but are now invaluable additions to my collection are: Barenboims Beethoven Cycle (Szell's is on the way), Klemperer's Bruckner 6, Suitner's Dvorak Symphonies, Ozawa's Mahler 2, Masur's Mahler 9, Andras Schiff's Mozart Concerto's (how had I never heard of this), Munch and Boulez's Daphnis and Chloe, Barenboim's Saint-Seans Organ Symphony, Blomstedt Schubert Symphonies, Caballe's Salome, Muti's Philharmonia Tchaikovsky cycle, Ozawa's Chicago Rite of Spring and von Dohnanyi's Vienna Petrushka and The Miraculous Mandarin. I would never have had the joy of hearing these recordings without your recommendation. So thank you so much and I can't wait for 2025. BTW - I'm a Classics Today Insider.

Hi Dave, I’m a new subscriber to the channel and loving it! Similar to your Uber driver friend, I love classical music but know very little about it. Your channel is a magical portal of musical discoveries - most recently Stokowski’s Bach orchestral transcriptions. We’ll have to agree to disagree on the Finale of Bruckner’s Ninth (I absolutely love the SPCM completion and especially the last revision by John Phillips), but that minor quibble needn’t detain us. Thank you for this labor of love and I will most definitely keep listening! Happy New Year!

Happy new year Dave, Jed, and all viewers! 🎉
The demise of classical music people always blow my mind, just this year the Sergei Babayan and Daniil Trifonov Rachmaninoff (coming from an admitted piano crazy) album and BIS Pettersson didn't just make my favorites of the year, but my all time favorite classical releases ever!

Happy new year Dave…you bring much joy to my life…warmly appreciated and much loved. If I can make a suggestion, can we have comparative content on existing recordings of individual symphonies in the Haydn Crusade please? Including some great stuff and not so great but pioneering work done on LP some of which have not always made it on CD…wish you and all my fellow classical music fans and collectors a wonderful 2025!
