You gotta fly straight, flare, then dodge with these things. It works, depending on the range. Side aspect is far far tricky because once you start to dodge after flaring to trick the missile, there aren't any flares left on the missile's fov because you've been flying away from the deployment point obliviously.

It was not a limiter it was a funny interaction with gaijins engine and the F-16s model that caused the higher surface area control surfaces that were supposed to provide better maneuverability to instead lock up when you were going too fast but it’s fixed now on all varients
Dont ignore the fact that the smt is a ton heavier than the other mig 29, still produces the same thrust and received an fm nerf on the dev server. Seems like a temporary way gaijin "balanced" the plane at launch. Should change because no mig 29 has a turn rate similar to that of the phantom (which the smt in game does).

It detects of course if someone locks and shoots at you too. However it seems here that you don’t have the warning of a lock or shot fired. So it is just detecting missiles in your general area.

@@TrampMachine From my experience the R73 is much better at sub 2 km range while the 9m claps at higher ranges. It is very easy to flare if you get the hang of it, but not many people do.
You probably already know this but that launch tone is not a glitch but an actual thing.. if anyone launches a missile within your area it will go off even if its not tracking you.. it also helps players to be more aware :3

The launch system is based off of these "beams" or "pulses" of friendlies or aircrafts launching their missile, it does not always specifically tell you that someone has launched a missile intended to kill you but it helps you to be more affirmative and confirm that someone has indeed launched their missile if someone in front of you RWR locks you and you see them flying towards you in a headon. Hence why pilots in the real world call out "Fox 1, 2, or 3" to communicate with fellow wingmans that they have fired and that their launch pings are not actually the enemy's but theirs.

Not yet, not enough 12.3's in the matchmaker to make much of a difference and everyone is using 11.3-12.0's to grind the new planes so you still get constant uptiers. Give it a week or two and it will actually be really nice once enough people unlock the F-16C and MiG-29SMT uptiers will be far less common.

Been doing quite alot of 1v1s against the f16c and using the f16c. It's just boring playing the f16 in dogfights against the mig29 since it's energy retention is so bad they honestly have over buffed the f16 to the point where you have to be an idiot to lose now.

R73 should have it's flare resistance at least comparable to the 9M. After so many people complained, it was gimped hard, now it's around the 9L level, maybe lower.

Smokeless missiles is a bit of a problem in a fairness standpoint. I am always trying to pay attention behind me for smoke. Now with these, with the flare restience seems broken.
I was running flares reinforced since before this patch even dropped, idk i just feel like chaff is unnecessary at top tier since we have a better version and a chaff that renders SARHs at top tier complete useless giving me SARH immunity, and its called planet earth. Flares reinforced is the most needed rn in top tier. And the earth chaff is infinite, the only time i got hit when I was flying low was an AIM-54 that detonated into a house next to me and the splash damage ignited by fuel tanks.
The 9M is very easy to flare if you know what your doing. The IRCCM works by turning off and on the seeker when it sees flares. So to flare it all you have to do is flare. Then switch directions.
The aim-9M will be VERY deadly in SIM but I feel Air RB the only missiles that should have the diamond are Radar any IR missile should of no diamond until it gets within 0.7 miles Also this update made the F-16 very good no more G limiter its great now the F-16 can compete with the Mig-29 now instead of the Mig-29 being the Top dog always

yeah, so the trick to side aspect is to get yourself out of the seeker while it's off because you flared
