For whatever reason people frequently forget that cigarettes arent the only thing lighters and matches are used for. Candles exist, as do pilot lights, fireworks, camp fires, and incense.
Plus fire is cool, could be used as a light in a pinch, start a campfire...
fixing loose threads on clothing, heat shrink wraps, stopping the itching of mosquito bites, frayed ropes, helping out other people in need of fire..
i mean, its fire, not as important as some hundred years ago, but still a very usefull "tool".
@@stevenarmstrong6622 I couldn't agree more. I haven't smoked a cig in my life but I still keep matches and lighters around for various things and emergency purposes.
Granted, the ash tray is pretty unequivocal, but then again it was made at a time when doctors were advertising smoking as healthy and even the Flintstones had cigarette commercials, and almost certainly wasn't sold as an item for kids, even if it might have been present at the cafe and hotel at Legoland for the adults to use.
As for company wine boxes, that's absolutely nothing to throw a fit at. Companies frequently give bottles of wine as Christmas, New Year's or anniversary presents. Clearly it wasn't sold and marketed at kids.
With the lighters/matches, they're actually okay - they may have been intended for smokers, but that's far from the only thing lighters and matches are for (and they can still be marketed toward adults)
I don't really see any problem with adult Lego products like lighters or wine boxes as they were primarily employee (who were all adults) gifts. Those were very different times. While I definitely don't condone smoking, for anyone and especially for kids, I also feel that people freak out unnecessarily about these things now. Plus I use matches for lighting candles. Not a big deal.
Exactly. Context matters.
I use matches to toss in the toilet after a dump. I’d love to have the Lego logo for that
Real
That backpack looks about the right size for 2 wine bottles, just saying.

I remember when I was a young boy, my father gifted me a Lego brand video camera. It was the coolest thing I had seen up to that point
Tried to read this to the tune of Welcome to the black parade lol 😂
The Lego technic calculator was meant for things such as speed, torque, and gear ratio calculations.
Real
I had one and my brother and I used it alot when building our robots to figure out gears and chain set ups

We have most of the kitchen items. There were minifig head shaped pepper and salt shakers too. And a kitchen timer.
My son still uses the LEGO spoon, knife and fork set every day.
Real
We have the shakers
There is nothing wrong with Lego matches they don’t have to be used for smoking
Real
I think the idea was to let people burn any creepy dolls they encountered. #Sarcasm
Imagine being a cashier at a lego store when suddenly you're being robbed. You're quiet obviously in a panic and hurriedly try to open the cash register to give the robbers....only to see that the balaclava they're wearing has a big a$$ LEGO BRICK on it
Real
And that they're not there to steal cash, but all the high priced Lego sets!
Oh man that just unlocked a deep memory, I had that soccer ball! It sat proudly next to my soccer field set :)

The alarm clock/calculator are just extremely cheap "gifts" given out at company meetings. They can get them extremely cheap from China, pennies on the dollar, with their logo printed on them, and can give it out to employees as a "gift". I worked in IT for a company and we'd constantly get mugs, calculators, alarm clocks, pens, that were super cheap with our companies logo printed on them.
Since the introduction of the 1x5 plate, I feel like everything is possible and I wont be weirded out or surprised by any lego product.
Real
Though incredibly useful, I agree that the 1x5 plate shook me to the core.
ywnbaw.

So the Lego match box is for when your creepy doll starts moving by itself
I actually still use my old red Lego 1×2 Alarm Clock. It still works, but the display is starting to go. I just gotta hit it for the display to start working again.

As a huge Space fan, I was upset that City was the only line you mentioned when talking about the air tank piece. I am very disappointed in you, SpitBrix.
Imagine robbing a bank in a LEGO Ski mask and LEGO Bandana
Lego themed payday 😂
Right, so smoking is obviously really bad, but, seriously, lighters are not that big of a deal. Sure, many are designed with cigarettes in mind, but I can use it to set anything on fire.
I actually have an old Lego soccer/football ball. Granted it is used but still in good condition because most of my childhood was... spent playing lego and not kicking the soccer ball.😊
Real
Can’t wait for my LEGO (TM) Burial Vault.
Should've talked about the crazy lego wii remote.
You missed the pun on the winebox; steen means both rock and brick. So it’s not a rocksolid new year (no pun there) but a brick good new year.
I remember the doll collection when visiting legoland in the ‘80s. It was ok, but of course I came for the lego.
Your videos are so educational!

Thank you for every LEGO news! Ur so helpfull! You deserve 1 mil. !!!

5:28 this was a dutch lego gift for staff. it says: we wish you a Brick good 1997. Brick good means really good
Thanks for reminding me to add my Jackstone badges to my collection on Bricklink.
i Remember years back seeing the Legoland doll exhibit in Legoland Billund, there was a massive doll house with the dolls in them, the exhibit was also filled with large lego display pieces with full landscapes for lego pirates and other themes sold at the time, think it might have been sometime in the mid 1990's.
I wonder the value on that ashtray if one were to turn up. So cool

Yoo I need that LEGO Zippo and ashtray
Where did that balaclava skull minifigure head print come from?
Not just cigarette ashes my boy 😬😬
lighters for lighting candles.

ha ha these are SO FUNNY!
LEGO RELEASES INAPPROPRIATELY PRODUCTS
Theory: Lego made these as an attempt to branch out into other things besides toys.
3:40 homie isn’t doing differential calculus while building that’s a self report right there
The wine box thing might seem strange, but in Europe they have a different perspective on kids drinking. My uncle grew up in the Netherlands, and I'm told that you might have a little wine with your dinner (supervised by parents) from seven or eight.
I have that sheriff star, I got it from legoland Denmark like 30 years ago :)
This just really brings into perspective how Lego has changed with the times. Good on them.

Last time I checked implements for starting a fire aren't illegal.
There's a huge difference between "illegal" and "weird for a toy company to sell."
@@theemmjay5130 banned is a synonym for illegal. Try to keep up.
@@guillermoelnino That's the fault of the video's thumbnail; he didn't say within the video itself that they'd been banned anywhere, just that they were things you wouldn't expect to see Lego do, or that they wouldn't do these days.
@@theemmjay5130 And?
@@guillermoelnino And I wasn't thinking about the thumbnail when I originally commented; I was thinking about the actual contents of the video.

Office Depot brand 8gb LEGO USB drive?
I have a lego hockey puck!
Well, I have Lego ashtray and lighters in my collection and they aren’t "Yeeeeks". They ar part of the companies history. Demonizing products is just over the the top cringe. People smoke, get over it.
The wine box though is impossible to get at a reasonable price. Pity
