  • The starter on the Porsche Cayenne V8 models (S, Turbo, and Turbo S) are notorious for being difficult to replace. Its not reeeaaaally all that bad, but there are definitely easier starters to replace than this one! The magic trick to avoiding removing the coolant lines involves a particular pull-lift-twist-shimmy combo. I learned it from this RUclips Short...
    • EASY Starter Removal -...
    A couple quick notes:
    1. battery disconnect is waaaay easier than battery removal
    2. 11mm hex socket is a perfect fit for whatever size reverse torx bolt is used to hold the starter on
    3. this job provides a great opportunity to practice working with your hands by feel rather than by sight
Don't JUST watch this video. Watch all the ones you can find. Basically that's all I did, and then just compiled all the lessons and steps and tricks I learned into this video. Hope it helps you to change your own starter on your Porsche Cayenne!

Great video - the only thing I can think of is the torque specs putting everything back together. Were you able to find a list of all these? Or did you even torque spec?

I always rely on rennlist for torque specs. I’ll pull them up again and post an edit to the description. Good call out!

@@motorsandmeats88 I will search rennlist and find them, you don’t need to worry about doing that for me. It was a great video. My 06 cayenne won’t start, not sure if it’s the alternator or the starter. Any input?

@@daviswiederspan3855 if the battery is good and is charged, and it still won’t start, then that’s the starter or possibly a connection issue getting power to the starter. The alternator is only there to keep the battery charged while the car is running.

@@motorsandmeats88 I already put a new battery in so I am going to go with the starter. Should I do the alternator as well while in there?

The main reason I’m not certain it’s the starter is because the car dies when it’s left off. I don’t think that could possibly be a starter issue?
