ningen refers to the human realm in buddhist cosmology. it makes sense Zamasu would use the term since he would occupy the tendo or heavenly realm. I think mortal is the most fitting translation. translation is always about context and culture.

one thing you have missed is that toriyama is using Buddhism cosmology human word. in Buddhism there are 5 classes of living beings human, God, animals, hungry ghost, and hell beings.

It's still kind of confusing just because there are a lot of Earthlings who are not humans--ie Animal-Men like King Furry and sapient animals like Puar and Turtle, plus all the regular animals like Scratch and Icarus who are technically also mortals--even before you get to actual aliens.
It was kind of confusing why the race in Xenoverse is called Earthlings when you can't actually play as any type of Earthling but humans.

I always wonder why in dragon ball we had animals as humans this is what it was the whole time.
I thought Zamasu had beef with earthlings specifically because he was talking about how they are always at war with each other and stuff. But the meaning of ningen is so broad that he essentially hates anything that isn't a god. What an odd God of Creation he is.

@geekdom101 what do you think about this? I think all human z fighters should be minimum saiyan base level all the way up till super if they train... minimum they could be stronger. Only thing that should set Saitama apart is the transformations then humans should have access to an ultimate form like Gohan and also a god transformation like ssj god just not blue because that’s considered super saiyan of saiyan god transformation

2:52 Hacchan(#8) was the first one introduced in the series. It sounds accurate for that. Maybe Toriyama forgot about that characteristic later. Like he forgot a lot of things
I have a question, are any dragon ball manga's apart from the main series available to buy physically??? I have the whole 42 volumes of dragon ball already and were just wondering if any others are (IN ENGLISH), I know eventually super will be released in English speaking countries in manga form but have any of the specials like: episode of bardock , cross epoch, DB hero's vicory mission, gigna patrol jaco, rebirth of F or any others I have not listed been released in physical form?? anyway I'm done rambling now haha

I for one was never confused about the whole ningen/mortals vs Gods thing. But if I'm honest, it seems way too broad. Two arms, two legs, a head, eyes, a mouth? Even the Gods fall into that category.
Kiao-ken is a human martial art technique adapted by Saiyan Goku, Goku even transform a supersaiyan using that technique in an episode with Cooler... I think Humans can do the same....

DBS Future trunks arc is so sloppy and a mess. This was akira's lazy way of bringing trunks back to dbs for no good reason. If zamasu ends up being black goku, wouldn't he go into the future timeline of present goku(alive goku) , and not alternate timelime (adult trunks/ dead goku). How convenient that zamasu travels to adult trunks' future timeline, and from all other time lines, it has to be that one. just a dumb reason for bringing future trunks to DBS.
The future trunks arc is full of suspense and epic was in a few episodes, idk what you are on

These arcs are all garbage. Honestly toriyama could just ask the Dragonball community for ideas and we could help him make DBS a success. For example I wish Vegeta would have visited planet Salad already and been inspired so much that he hunts for the super dragon balls to revive planet Vegeta. He would finally get the respect and honor he's been yearning for and it'll make a fantastic arc
+Steve Soto I don't find it lazy, like the cell arc or buy saga wasn't lazy, those villains were just slapped into z while you say this is lazy, this arc is like one of the best arcs out of the whole dragon ball franchise so far imo, you can hate on me for saying that, but I really like this arc
Human is a generic term to refer to sentient life such as ourselves. Above beasts but below gods. Even those occasional furry people and cyborgs are humans according to this.
Very simple and to the point explanation I like it. I guess the only thing that makes me sad about it really is the fact that you have had to make this video in the first place. Geekdom this video is just less than 4 minutes, which makes me think if the producers e.t.c of dragonball had spent just 5 minutes clearing up this confusing issue of language with Toriyama there would have been no need for this. That has to be in their power seen as they make such drastic changes to the anime in comparison to the manga i.e. in the manga SSG and in the anime SSB Kaioken surely they could change a word here or there so it falls into the appropriate context. Rant over though thanks again.

I always kinda wondered what was up with those furry humans just being around and never got much of an explanation. Guess this is the closest I'll get to an understanding.
So then does Black also want to kill all mortals for justice and not just Earthlings? If he does, then it makes even less sense for him spend 1+ years to exterminate a planets' inhabitants, considering how many he has on his to do list. He does call out Trunks for being a Saya-jin.
Since the dawn of Sci-Fi (and alien related media) Humans and Earthlings are not synonyms.
Like the fact that in a lot of Sci-Fi series of movie there are a lot of Human Beings across the Universe but they are not Earthlings. We just don't call ourselves Earthling because we already know that we are humans from Earth.

Ok. Now it makes sense why Zamasu have so much hate for the "humans". I mean the human race in DBZ are nothing compare to the likes of Goku, Vegeta, Frieza, Cell, Buu, and so on. They don't bother anyone other than the typical crimes. They're often in the bubble of their own worshipping Mr. Satan.

I was like no he isn't he's a full-blooded sayjin but anyone who isn't a god and has antro-like characteristics and is mortal that can die is considered human. So thanks for clearing that up.
