This was a great interview. There's no reason for any hate here and here's why: The interviewer's knowledge on modular runs deep, just like Jamie's. You can tell these are two people with a love for modular setups, a discussion on modular can get very complex depending on what you focus on. Ahmet did a phenomenal job leading through the setup by going through the chain and pointing out specific modules. That's what this video's for! Keep it up, these technical videos are invaluable. Thanks for having Blawan on! 👍🏾
The interviewer constantly cuts the guy off before he can finish answering a question. Would have been a good video but we got about 25% of the info we would have had the interviewer let blawan answer some questions fully.
and ofc if he said ''you don't need that much'' I got in my mind his track title ''what you do with what you have'' it's always with me around, real shit.
Totally agree. The two had a good vibe going by the end. I think people complaining have the usual “haven’t-watched-the-whole-video-yet “ disease most comment sections suffer from
Great set! Also, I'm happy to finally get to see the RC-505 used for electronic music. Been trying to find some examples of that on yt but it's basically all beatboxing vids.
This guy is awesome.. One oscillator one kick one hi hat one perc one delay one reverb one filter one wavefolfer one freqshifter Waouhhh! This looper seems the way to work for improvising stuff... Thank you blawan.808 kick into rings... Mdr...

Hey guys, I have been reading the comments here and I have the feeling to clarify a few things. First of all, I do hear your critics and take them seriously. However on the other side I still think this is a great video and feature about Blawan. I have spoken also personally to him to get his feedback about the way of handling the interview and he has no problem at all with that style and enjoyed the feature a lot. So maybe most people don't know: Jamie (Blawan) and I do know us since a few years and therefore I wanted to keep the interview interactive and in a certain flow like two guys talking about nerdy stuff, because there were so much content to talk about in such a limited period of time and I wanted to cover a broad spectrum of it. If you compare this interview with the other ones, the Q&A section takes much longer (approx. 20mins). On the other hand, my main profession is not being an interviewer and V-Blogger in first place and doing this in a livestream situation was my very first experience. So please bare with me. Having said this, I want to point out that the Thomann team and myself are investing a lot of time and energy to present such exclusive contents for you guys and all I can say is: keep things positive and be nice to each other. Especially in times of the pandemic we are all frustrated and I do feel that the comments here don't do justice to this great feature. Peace out.
I think you did a great job and the chat style works really well. There is so much info here for those who are listening. Also Jamie never loses his train of thought anyway and always finishes what he is going to say even when asked an additional question mid-way through. The end result is very good despite what some people are saying here. Really enjoyed it
I’m still fuzzy on how he uses the Rc 505. If he just has the one summed output coming from the modular into the looper, how does he add just one or two elements to the loop without constantly re-layering the master output? I’m scared.
also trying to figure this out, any ideas?...I think he basically only has the volume up on one sound at a time on the modular, makes a loop, and then mutes the modular before bringing the volume of the loop up?
All the sound you hear is coming from the looper, then he creates a new sound with the modular and loop it again. Also you can overdub existing loops and add some new. He's creating multiple layers of sound and with the rc505 he has 5 different channels / tracks to record.
Modules used: Vpme Euclidean Circles Rossum Morpheus filter TipTop BD808 TipTop Hats909 Metropolis Cwejman filter (not sure what) Rings Make noise function Doepfer thing with a triangle on it :-) What have I missed or got wrong?
Awesome stuff. Might seem like a dumb question but I must know: How is it that he manages to single out his drums from his delay and reverb that is affecting his main oscillators? Because it seems that everything is coming out from one main output even though that output is going though his external effects. Is he looping his drums over a dry signal and then adding delay + reverb to his oscillators and percs afterwards? Thanks :)
