Nice reel Blake. I have BOTE HD 12 with a tackle rack, so pretty much what you have. I envision myself using the board to fish. I am a liveaboard in the Shilshole marina so I am challenged with salt water opportunities. Next time I am in the shop I will seek you out for a chat. Cheers. Mikey.
You mentioned "only going to fish from" in the intro to this video. I am looking for a board that is going to split duty between fly fishing small alpine lakes and taking the dog and kids out for float. I was looking at the Rackam Aero, but do you think the smaller HD Aero would be a better pick?
Hi Craig! The HD is a great board, but if you add dog and kids on it with you, it'll get a little tippy. The Rackham Aero though, can handle it all. If you think you are going to be solo more than 50% of the time, go with the HD. If you anticipate fishing a lot or being the cruise director of the party barge, then the Rackham would make more sense. If you're going to hike it into small alpine lakes, definitely consider that the HD weighs A LOT less!
@@Gigharborflyshop Really appreciate you guys taking the time to reply. The alpine lakes here in Utah i would fish this at are right off the side of the Mirror Lake Highway, no lugging this more than 50 feet.
Fly rods don't fit in those metal tubes not to mention they will scrap the finish off of your reel. A plastic tube designed for fly rods would be a better option. Those racks and buckets are very pricey.
Those boards are not of good quality, they get scratched. easy and they break too, I had a microskiff and it scratches very easily and dents easily, plus the prices are crazy
Hey!! My brother and I got some fly rods from your shop a year back, and I just came across your channel! Started working at the waterfront of a resort, so paddle fishing has gotten to be very interesting to me. Looking forward to watching more of your content!

I agree
@@Gigharborflyshop I'm going with a cooler fly rod mount setup using Railblaza fly rod holders and their Starport HD mounts.
