  • Sadly, Xihamham died in a fight with the two Trichardt males on March 31, 2023.
    Meet the Fathers of Casper The White Lion and his brothers!
    They are the only two remaining 'old' Shishangaan males: Xihamham and his brother.
    They are no longer the pride males of the Shishangaan pride but are still known as the 'Shishangaan males'.
    They were born around 2008-2009 (depending on the litter). They were seven brothers in their nomadic days in 2013, and now only these two are still alive.
    The two now control Mananga and Mountain Pride.
    This Mananga pride is estimated to be 19 strong when all together, according to a head count that was done recently, which included six lionesses and thirteen sub-adults and cubs.
    The Kumana males took over the Shishangaan pride, but only one remains now. He was having some competition from a younger male known as the Maputo male. After a few fights, they landed up forming a coalition and are still dominant over the Shishangaan pride.
    Two members of the Shishangaan male coalition, one of which was Xihamham, have been seen on a number of occasions with the Mananga pride feeding and have on occasion been seen wandering the 'Singita Concession' as a pair, ensuring no intruders enter their northern territory.

    Very happy to be introduced to these Magnificent Kings. They give me hope for all our younger Kings. May they continue to reign in good health and see their current cubs to independence. Thank you very much.

    They control the Mt pride too. Xihamham seems to be moving much better with that back leg injury. As always thanks for sharing, it's nice to see the older boys... you never know how much longer the older coalitions will be around.

    Wonderful seeing the sires of Casper, Casanova, Footloose and Mfowethu. They favor their fathers. And these two males look good for their age. I was expecting them to look older and more beat up. Thanks for sharing!

    Unfortunately lion fathers and sons have not friendly relations after sons grow up. Sons are chased away from pride and they have to live on their own , later to take over some other pride if possible. So question if Casper and his brothers would meet their father, what would happen, answer is: probably nothing good.Better if they do not meet . It is not Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader moment. Adult male lions treat every other strange male lion outside of his pride as enemy. That said, bond between brothers is very strong and lasts until death. Most of lion coalitions are brothers .

    I think they are the oldest males in whole of KNP including Sabisands, manyeleti, and timbavati.
    They r fathers of 3 mjajane males, young shishangani, casper and brothers, vurhami male Mo and many more.
    If someone please tell me soming more about Ross males that control Birmingham and Birmingham breakaway pride.
    Do they have any other offsprings besides young Birmingham ones?

      @@akshatparag2884 Shishangaans were 7 males, probably born on the S100 area, far far away from Crocodile Bridge. Probably born around 2007/8. They are the fathers to the 4 Shish males and maybe the 2 Ratelpan males.
      The 4 Shishangeni males were born onto the Crocodile Bridge area, deep in southern Kruger in 2009, their fathers were the 6 Old Gomondwane males. They ousted their fathers in late 2014 and took over the entire area by 2015.

    7 brothers. That explains why Casper is white. When males hold a pride for too long the inbreeding (fathers mate with their daughters/grand daughters) it results in white lions.

    • @MyAfricaAdventures
      @MyAfricaAdventures  2 года назад +7

      For a white lion to be born the mating female and male lion must carry this recessive gene to produce a white lion cub (even if the parents themselves are of a tawny coloration) They are not albino’s!
      The genetic condition is known as leucism, a rarity where a recessive mutation in the gene causes the lion’s coat to vary from near-white to blonde

    • @Pawsandtales321
      @Pawsandtales321 2 года назад +5

      No Casper is not the result of inbreeding. No white lion born in the wild is a result of inbreeding. In captivity I have heard of crap places trying to inbreed two white lions to get more white cubs.
